Turramurra Cycles in Turramurra, was my favourite Sydney bike shop. I got my GT 24 from there, and my brother got his JMC Black Shadow, as well as lots of cool parts and gear. The guy running it back then was an ex Kiwi.
Thats where I saw the only GT 26 I ever saw in real life, hanging up in the shop.

Great memories....

Just scored this in Sydney - 3 x NOS Mongoose frames:

Martin
mcam
Wow, how in gawds name did you find them?

I have yet to find anything remotely oldschool in any bike shops...
v8ute
hey martin are you back in town?
www.martin-bike.com
I've been buying bikes from this shop for nearly 30 years. Bought my first BMX, a Redline MXIII, and a Hutch Pro Racer there. Later my first mountain bikes.

They don't like selling to people who will just onsell. They now I collect. They have a stash they never let anybody near. I try every time I'm in Sydney and today I was lucky.

Scored this there 2 years ago - 1980 JMC Standard long in rare original blue:

Yep, back home now but only until next weekend. Going to my 20th year school reunion next Saturday night - that will be funny.

Will list stuff for sale here over coming days before I go to eBay.

Martin

What a nice welcoming home present those frames are. I knew they were there but they were asking silly money for them previously. Caught them on a good day. Persistence pays . . .

Martin

Nice... That shop sure sounds like a rather nice place... I need to holiday in Sydney again...heheheheheeee

Oh no, after that photo of you with the machine gun smiling Howard, YOU are the last person I want on my bad side

Martin

Anybody trying their luck at this bike shop will need ALOT of patience. I've been at them for years. I get lucky because I don't hassle them regularly - only every few months when I'm in town.

Martin

I'd pay you to do the dirty work Martin....LOL

Can't do it Mike. Not a bad bone in my body! LOL

Now.... That is nice.... REAL nice...

What was the cost to ship it from the US to you?
www.martin-bike.com
It was USD $75 and had other items in the box also.

I keep a spreadsheet with all my stuff I've ever bought recorded including the shipping. If you knew how much I've spent on shipping you would freak. Sucks to live down under for certain things.

COASTY
Hey Martin, I think I know the shop your talking about. I never had a problem with them. I know a lot of people do though. Very nice frames too. That Patterson is beautiful.

PM me your cell phone homie.. ALSO interested in afew Tange goodies before they all sell-out? I have Tange Tx-1200 Red and gold forks for those Mongoose's..
Jarvi
Wow Martin, looks like you've had a fun couple of days. I can't believe there is a number plate around that you don't have though.

I've written down all the purchases and frieght etc but haven't been game to add it up, and I've only been doing this for a few months so your numbers must be mind-boggling.
www.martin-bike.com
Luis,

Cool, might take you up on those Tange forks. I have some also but not red or gold - yummy!

Jarvi,

Yes, been fruitful so far.

There are a couple of plates I haven't got yet. My holy grail is the large stadium older non-mesh Aero plate that John Crews ran on his Proline.

Best not to look at those numbers. Some things are best kept under the carpet.

OZZYBMX
hey guys , there is a topic on a bike someone found on the street , i started typing a full story on how the "ram looking" bike was from new zealand , and it was so when the new zealander left his sheep to ride his bike it still felt like home !

but then i thought i migh be offending our kiwi brethern , so i decided against the post .... take a look for yourself - http://www.vintagebmx.com/cgi-bin/ultimate...ic;f=1;t=023197

BTW , lovely cruisers osamaie !
mcam
Haha, takes more than that to offend us...

I mean, you could say we prefer to ride Quicksilvers or something....hehehehehehe
velocidad
Hey Martin - good to see your back in da house - love the patterson.
and great pics Luis. i'm figuring not... but please tell me you didn't ride both those bikes yourself? lol.

We all had a great day today two- our first race meeting out at Sunbury club. A big thanks go to Trev (signup & callup) DaveC (pa) and that poor bugger that lifted the gate all day (name unknown) - I hope someone shouted him a beer at the end of the day. was a great friendly low stress day and a very good track, totally rideable for everyone. thanks guys - my kids had a great day and thats all that matters! thanks waza too for the stickys - cool mate. sorry i couldn't hang about.
Jarvi
Sounds like a good day. Bit bummed I missed it but then the five kilos of Japanese food I had last night wouldn't have helped the race weight.

Mark - did you get the DVD and cable? I took a punt after texting you and was on the way home when you replied.
QuicksilverBMX

velocidad
yes thanks James - all good. sorry for the brief sms, meant to call you but got sidetracked.... remember clubbie next saturday ok.
mcam
Hahaha.... Lambswool seat cover... thats damn funny
Kurt.
Man that's a beautiful Patterson Martin - great pick up. I always loved the low slung look of those bikes - but only from the magazines - never got close to one. And who would think you could find 3 NOS geese frames nearly over 25 years down the track. Nice.
www.martin-bike.com
Yes Kurt, nice all around.

Ok, first item for sale is the red Tuf Neck in this shot on my Skyway TA. It is mint and I treat and handle my stuff better than I do a new born baby.

I want to replace it with . . . yes, you guessed it, another Tuf Neck. I'm asking only what I paid for including shipping - not a cent more. I have the original auction page saved for your reference.

It's not 100% era correct for my build (I think) - so want to replace it to make sure.

Yes it was expensive and it's the only one like this I've ever seen on eBay in this colour.

email: martin@martin-bike.com

bullyhotrod86jh
hey i was just wondering what you guys think I got tange forks on this mongoose they seem to be the correct ones for it but there chrome and a lotof the chromes flaking and bubbling so from what i understand I'd either have to strip most the chrome off it and get all the rust off the and polish them with autosol, or strip them and spray them myself or have them painted or chromed, I cant really afford to do that but.so what i was wondering is ive also got some early redline forks the guy said there about 79-81 so they'd be pretty erra correct and they have a good paint job but probably wont match the coloursceme so i'd still have to repaint them probably. so im just wondering what you guys think might be best to do well thanks for any input it would very much appreciated.
Joel H.
mcam
Martin,

1983 Nora Cup Expert Frame and Fork? Hmm..... I have Expert bars here....hmmm.... NO! I cant think like that! LOL

Those Impact Santa Ana pads are the yellow ones? I dont need them now, as I have the whole colour range

That T/A sure is a nice bike
www.martin-bike.com
Joel,

Just buy my NOS Tange forks cheap. I forgot to mention that in the previous list.

I have TX-500, TX-1200 and a couple of other ones. Need to check.

I have source stuff needing restoration before. Sometimes it's unavoidable but getting it redone is a real pain - especially if you're busy.

I've had chrome stripped only to get the frameset back pot holed with too much acid. Nearly made me cry. Spent more time fixing the damn holes.

For an item like that, you're better off just buying a new one. Mine will be cheap - I'll post some photos here on Tuesday. It's my Dads' birthday tomorrow so got to go out and spoil the old man.

Martin
www.martin-bike.com
Hey Mike,

I want those Santa Anna Expert bars for the Patterson cruiser. Are you selling them?

Maybe swap the expert and some cash if you're looking to let go of one of your GT cruisers???

Martin
KOSY-MOTO
I can't sleep... Im BMXed out!!
Kurt.
Hi Martin,
I'd be interested in the DK cruiser stem for my XL24.
Cheers
Kurt
mcam
Martin,

If often thought about letting the Expert bars go, but I want to hang on to them, as I have considered doing a "Rob Fehd" replica on the 24. The bars would be perfect for that.

When I saw you had the expert up for sale, I thought how cool it would be to have a expert, pro, 24 and 26.

Yeah, then I'd need to find a mini, a pit, and a junior cruiser....... fat chance hehehehehehe

I couldn't bring myself to let go of one of the cruisers. I know I would regret it.

Mike
COASTY
Bully , sell me the redline forks and buy martins new forks. Everyones happy then. Especially me!
AndyDiamond
I have a stack of NOS TX500 forks in warme red or silver (not chrome).
KOSY-MOTO
