Dugga, that hole in the BB attachment tube (whatever its called) was in a lot of the late 81+ model frames - yes from the factory. my kos is that era and has it too.
KOSY-MOTO
YO Howie hows it hang'n homie.. good to see you again..

Well here's my Supergoose released back in 1981 Ausrtralia.. which was 1978-9 released in the USofA.
Enjoy
velocidad
Howard thats a good eye you have. I have noticed the same variations in quicksilvers too made here in Oz and i reckon that it boiled down too who loaded the components in the frame assembly jig and where they sat whilst being tacked.
re: mongoose I'm confident the frame assembly was going on in a few different factorys at the time too, so many different jigs being used would also add to the variations.
HowardinOz
I reckon you're right Mark.
Luis, that is one nice Goose (Gilchrist just hit two 6's in a row) and it throws my rear gusset supa/mon goose thing out the window!
BUT, it does have the high position rear triangle???
KOSY-MOTO
Thats right early Supergoose's had no holes on droptails.. here is the b4 shot..
HowardinOz
Nice job Luis!!!
KOSY-MOTO

Unfortunately Matt's foot injury put an end to our planned visit to the Monster Park at Homebush on the games day , Unfortunately Federal law requires that I must be accompanied by a registered handler when attending these type of public events & no other ppl were available on the day....

I haven't looked at the site since to see wether they have posted any pix of the day , login & password are in the
Monster thread somewhere...

JB
KOSY-MOTO
hehehe.. early Goose's pre-79 had the brake mount for coasters.. as you can see on this model.. after is model came the SuperGoose without the coaster mount..
COASTY
Luis youtrs is June 81. That looks good in white. I'm gonna paint my 77 I think. I'd like to re-nickel it but I can't afford that.
KOSY-MOTO
Whats the story with the federal law Blackie?.. are you on paroll homie?..
KOSY-MOTO
Thanks Glenno!! so its an Old school.. hehehe.. so that makes my White Goose a early early OldSKool! hehehe

COASTY
Yeah mate. I have a 77 motomag with the coaster tab too. I have a team here too, it's a 79 model.
AjayVBMX
OK Luis, the forks on the white Mongoose are weird too. They are no original BMX Products items I think...

They are familiar to me, but I'm struggling to name that particualr model. I' thinking some kind of cheaper Tange forks....(i.e. not TX-1200) am I right?
QuicksilverBMX
they are tange tx-1200, standard issue with mongoose products
QuicksilverBMX
The Quicksilver is almost ready!

Am not on parole Osama , or anything criminal like that , event organizers tend to panick or get scared when I turn up at their events , last time I was out enjoying myself at an event the supposed evil Australian underground computer hacking community sh1t their pants when I turned up at their little conference , I got a plain clothes Federal Cop into trouble for divulging his identity in public & a few other amusing things happened....all within an hour of me arriving there. It took their security goon squad another 2 hours to get me leave , no claret was spilt , but a ton of ego's got _hammered_ in front of their peers that day
My idea of fun often scare's the hell out of the ignorant & my sense of humor matches my name.If this often bored Electrician finds an easy target (like a security guard or similar goon) I'll push their buttons to try & make them spontaneously combust , especially if they rub me the wrong way to start me off.A ticked off Sparky can put a stop to things very quickly when he wants to.....So it's best to have a handler with me to keep me amused in public.

I grabbed some still's off the early experiments I did with MW oven's & plasma in the late 1990's , to get the feel of it. If I can chop videos of this stuff down to smaller avi's , I'll load them into putfile , the still's don't do the .avi's any real justice , the 4th state of matter inside a MW oven is best viewed live or at least moving....

It usually cycles something like this , only much much FASTER.....& with little blue plasmoids running around the roof of the oven.

<Next pix I post will be of a bicycle , promise>

AjayVBMX
OK, so it's a while since I've been here, but I need to throw back to Luis' White Mongoose. Presumably you can't find either ashtabula forks or decosters for that frame?
KOSY-MOTO
HEY Ajay.. have a look buddy.. same fork homie on evilBay: Item number: 7215623710

remember old scool is pre 90's.. well in my graff books
AjayVBMX
Another imposter! I am pretty sure that the Tange forks didn't even appear until at least 1979/80....I'll have to check my photos, as Competition Development were a Tange importer and we got the Tange stuff as quickly as anyone....

My Team quicksilver of late 1979 still has Decoster forks.....

And as a trivia item... that photo was taken on the morning of the day that the "Do the Right Thing" commercial was shot....

[ January 30, 2006, 08:08 AM: Message edited by: AjayVBMX ]
KOSY-MOTO
imposter? who me?.. what photo are you talking about??

You gotta remember we got alot of parts and aftermark stuff.. back in the days.. it wasnt like today that you order a Brand NEW Goose from the US of A. and its here in less than 72hours..
AjayVBMX
Yeah, yeah, I know. But I am still pretty sure that even in the USA the Mongeese still had Decosters in 1978. You bugger...now I'll have to dig out my BMXA collection....
KOSY-MOTO
hehehe.. you've just come off your moto-bika to many times.. hehehe

HEY good to see you back.. its all good..
AjayVBMX
And Old School MUST be much earlier than 1990 eh???

Surely it means at least earlier than 1985?

OK, I know I'm a real "old school" person, but as far as I was concerned, BMX faded into obscurity for a great many people in late 1983 due to varoius reasons an has never reached the same heights of popularity since. Some blame freestyle, for me, the races just got too big and boring, with literally hours between motos due to the number of people entering events. This led to everyone deciding at the same time to stop racing.....
waza007
This should help you sort out goose forks

78 bmx products catalog
AjayVBMX
Thanks Waza. No Tange forks anywhere there....(as I knew was the case!)
KOSY-MOTO
Dude.. hehehe.. my white Moto forks arent Tanges.. the ones I have on my mid 80's are Tanges.. NOW we are all Tangled up..lol..

Nice pdf Wazza.. but that was just a skim of stuff products that Mongoose had.. it kept changing as those flyers were made..
AjayVBMX
And contrary to what everyone seems to think, we weren't behind the times in Australia when it come to trick gear for BMX in the late 70s and early 80s.

In fact, when the Japanese factories started making stuff in volume for BMX (e.g. Shimano, Tange, Sugino etc....) we got the stuff just as quickly as the yanks did and maybe even before they did. But the Japanese didn't really get on the BMX bandwagon until at least 1980 as faras I can remember, maybe not even until 1981.

AjayVBMX
No, that was a genuine BMX products catalogue for 1978, in FULL. How do I know? Well it brought back some very old memories for me as I used to lust after some of the bits listed in there, before I became a sponsored rider..... and yes, I bought a Gold stem, Decoster forks etc etc... at the time for my race bike. I didn't get free bikes until sometime in 1979.
KOSY-MOTO
FREE bikes.. geezz matey..
AjayVBMX
And here's what my 1978 Quicksilver looked like. Gold Stem, Decoster Forks, Redline V-Bars - at the time the "trick" items to have and considered "state of the art". At the time I was shop sponsered by Chatswood Cycles, just prior to getting sponsored by Quicksilver.

KOSY-MOTO
You still own these bike Ajacs?
AjayVBMX
Ah no... unfortunately not! (bugger ) Te only bike I still have is the 1982/83 Team Quicksilver Helium....complete with 1983 Australian Titles srutineering sticker on the numberplate....
