MMMmm! Maybe I'll try and get some beads!
Fantastic results Roberto. That white OGK is amazing and the red Z, wow! There was no indication of what colour that rim was.

Good on ya Ian. Yeah I think it was a pretty good deal.
Now all I need is a silver or blue coloured headset and the PK will be complete....I think!

I found tuffs have come out great if you leave them in WD40 for a week or two - then into the dishwasher for a cycle on the lowest heat setting which I think is 30 degrees on my dishwasher..... and for F!*$'s sake don't let your wife catch you.....
ROBERTO
Ha ha ha ha ha !
OldSkoolRoy
Hehehe...dishwasher...i've heard that works!! I think micoz told me....shhhhhh, don't tell the girls!!!! LOL.
Jet Black
I'd ease off the air pressure & use a really soft blasting medium for cleaning up those Tuff's , unless you want to put an Elvis style bullet hole in them... Matt turned a set of crappy looking yellow 16 inch OGK's into a slick set of black OGK's by simmering them in a black dye mix for a while.

I saw these 1990's mags on ebay & grabbed them today.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...item=7209240253
They seemed insanely cheap compared to what a set of campy hubbed graphites would cost me to buy & I don't think they make these THUG mags anymore..Still thinking on what bike I'll fit them onto.....I'll see how they look when they get here.
Matt & my stable of 20 inch BMX bikes covers from 1980 to 2005 , that GTA Rockstar bike I got is still looking really stock....

BTW

That .454 "roller" Howard has reminds me of a Ruger , that took .45LC rounds as well as the .454 special , brass , the Ruger was a 5 shot I think... you can have yer 9mm anyday , damm things are too noisy unless you put a can on the end them. Gimme a subsonic .45
single action or full frame 1911 any day

I miss my guns.....

So today wasn't a total bust. Mark and I had planned a MTB ride this morning and Melbourne has the first day of serious rain for a while and we cancelled. Anyway, if I'd gone I might have missed the delivery of the following.

Really just wanted it for the DX pedals which are in pretty good condition and maybe a few other bits.

Forgot to add, it's a Aussie made Supa Roo mini.

I've been busy today rubbing my fingers to the bone. I have almost finished the drive arm now. They are 170mm Shimano something's. The tuffs are being looked after as we speak. They are yellow alloy hubs so I am hangin' to see them finished. He done a little bit while I was there and they looked brilliant. I should get them back tomorrow. Thanks to the boys at Isuzu Nerang.
The redline stem needed a little tlc so I went hard on that too. The top needs a little more work but I'm happy with the results so far.

ROBERTO
Hi Glenn! Nice work on the polishing!
I found a pic of the same stem that I powdercoated for picklediddy. I like those stems!

Jarvi
I have a copy of those stems and not sure of the finish. See the picture below and what appears to be a chip in the silver. I say chip because when I run a fingernail over it I can feel the darker part is lower than the silver. What exactly is the finish because it is not anodised and not just polished. Bit afraid to start working on it even after reading the detailed instructions elsewhere.

Sorry the photo is out of focus, if I could be bothered reading the camera instructions I might then know how to use the manual focus etc.
COASTY
Hi Robert.
That white stem looks cool! The top part of mine has a few gouges in it that I need to fix so the blue will have to go. I was hoping to keep it blue but polished will look good. I'll leave the red on there and polish the lettering. Funny thing is I don't remember this stem from bitd. It was on my thrasher (that I'm rebuiling now) with Kuwahara V bars but I don't remember the stem at all!
COASTY
Jarvi, The redline stems are annodised top half and polished bottom half. I'd just strip it and start polishing. It's all alumiinium underneath.
HowardinOz
Good job Glen.
Looking forward to seeing the Tuff's.
Did you take some 'before' pic's?
Howard
ROBERTO
I found the pre restoration pic and as Glenn said, it's a pollished alloy finish on the bottom.

COASTY
I didn't but I'll try and get a pic of them. I'm sure theres one here somewhere!
Jarvi
Thanks Glenn. Decided to try and get a better photo and an answer before I had finished. The dark colour underneath just put me off a bit.

These stems were the only ones I used. Never had a problem with them and stong as anything but then I never really busted much apart from a Hutch frame in two places...
Jarvi
Well Roberto, if I stuff it up I might end up sending it to you to cover my mess.
COASTY
The yellow tuffs behind the tuff 1's are the ones getting done. They were painted and I stripped them best I could. They were really bad. I can't wait to see the results.
COASTY
I busted everything including a motomag frame! I've busted countless stems and the best one to this day is my MX2. I still have it on my goose. I have 2 more to use as well. Forks were another big drama. Thats why I have the Bottemas.
ROBERTO
I've never broken a part in my life... but that's because I don't ride hard enough .....lol.
COASTY
Oh and 1 piece cranks copped a lot of abuse too. I twisted the flight crank spindle too!(thank god for rini's) I liked to get a lot of height of my jumps.
Jarvi
I like to think I was easy on my bikes because I didn't weigh much and had good technique. Perhaps it was just a case of never riding hard enough. Have broken golf clubs and tennis racquets but my temper could be attributed to those breakages and I don't really remember losing my temper whilst riding.
velocidad
Yes i must say technique mustn't have been my forte either - twisted a few one piece cranks around to 7 o'clock dirt jumping... and no paper round was ever gonna pay for flight cranks lol!
OldSkoolRoy
Glen...i forgot to mention that the beadblaster that i use won't remove paint from the tuff wheel ,so if my tuffs had paint on them i had to strip all paint off first ,otherwise the wheel comes up great except for any paint i left on it. I've got it all worked out now. I can do a pair in around a hour. At the moment i got a yellow pair to do for a friend, but can't get into the workshop to get them done. I'll get there soon. I'm working on a excuse.Hehehehe.

PS. i forgot to mention to remove axles and berrings and when doing metal or alloy centre tuffs...tape up the centres with masking tape to protect them.
