Hey Ron, Thanks for the tip on the Flight crank chainwheel. I now have a complete set. Now I'm looking for a sealed bottom bracket for them! It never ends.
redlineoz
does anybody remember the 2 cranbourne tracks? in vic...they were only public tracks, not racing, as i remember?

cheers brian

Glad I could help.

quicknomor, sorry mate iam late...no time... iam in nsw, sthrn higlands..

hey waza, i still have,nt got your email mate....cheers
Mr.BMX
RedlineOZ......yep, 2 tracks in Narre Warren & Berwick tracks, but I don't recall any within cranbourne itself....were they the ones you meant ????

The 2 in narre/berwick started as public tracks, but later held some races on them.
From what i discovered a few years back, 1 track is buried under new housing estate, but the other still remains in a paddock.
I was told the starting hill can still be seen poking out of the grass with the old gate too.

Speaking of *OLD* tracks, did anyone ride the knox/boronia (mac cycles) track back in the day?
(off Lewis rd/factories).
Did ya know it's still there? and still very much the same as it's always been.
I was pretty stoked to find that it still existed, and still looks the same.

Long live oldschool tracks.

Maybe we should hold an oldschool race at the boronia club track, now that WOULD be oldschool at it's best ;-)
Actually there's plenty of room in the area before the track for a bikeshow display in future....

something to consider......

sounds good marty, but yeah cranbourne had a track which is now red rooster, and the "old" track as it was called was on the south gippy, opposite the race track, around the area of casablanca receptions....

Anyone else on here ride in Queensland tracks? I have signed up with the Nerang Club and ride regularly at Ashmore. Both these tracks have been around since the 80's. Nerang track is a really cool track too. Fenced off so it's in top condition.
While I'm here guys, I bought a rear tuff 2 in black today for $30 and now I need a front matching wheel. It's a metal hub also. I also bought a Dyno today for a daily rider. Man I'm having some fun with this reincarnation of my youth.
quicknomore
Coastvl I race at Redlands which has been there since BITD but has a lot more jumps on it now, and I actually found some pictures from ashmore from about 87 pretty bad quality though.

Found some other pics of an open meet at sandgate from '89 I think when the world titles were in brissie, again not flash photos but a heap of us pro's were there and got some of them in pro practice. I scan them and send them if anyone wants to post'em.

Yep, I was a member of the "Mac Cycles" club and raced there bitd. I went past there a few years ago and noticed a cyclone fence around it and some factories in front of it, but it still looked the same.
I dropped into the current Knox track a few months ago and after sitting on berms having a chat with some of the young 'uns, none had ever even seen the old track....sad really.
The Knox track has absolutely massive jumps and barely any room to really get spinning. How things have changed.
quicknomore
Matt,
I'll send 'em to you saturday some time I've got the day off. But like I said boys don't expect too much, I think my grandad took the ashmore ones and the others are my work but not much better.

Mr.BMX
Rectangle, i was at the boronia track just 6 months ago, photographing it before it gets demolished (like all others)....trying to preserve some history
;-)

Yep, todays tracks are all about rythm'n'pumping jumps galore, nothing to do with speed and power like we used to be...

I wanna build an olschool track, all about speed'n'skill ;-)

Marty, I was really surprised when I found it still there.....doesn't look like anyone goes near it, but it's sort of tucked away a bit.
I reckon if one of the council knobs finds it, it'll be history.
It was/is a great track. I practically lived there....according to my mum

I'm going to go for a drive today and check it out again. Damn, now I've really got to get my finger out and finish a bike.

Hey Marty, I just took a look at your site.
Ringwood Bowl!! OMG, I'd nearly forgotten that place. I always wanted to drop in at the far end but never quite had the balls
We used to ride the bowl, then some would go lake jumping at Ringwood lake and then we'd go over the highway where there was a shop that had that game "Asteroids" where we'd blow our pocket money. Must've been 1979/1980 or thereabouts.

I remember hearing about the track at Warrandyte but I never went there. All of the rest were out of my area.
My folks didn't like me racing so I had to ride to the tracks which were mainly Boroinia, Glen Waverley and Lilydale. I know Waverley's gone but not sure about Lilydale.

I start racing again next friday night! I'm a bit nervous I can tell you. I haven't done any racing for over 25 years. Should be very interesting. At least I'll look the part. I bought a complete Redline racing set and Helmet for $160. Almost brand new. I can't believe how nervous , yet anxious I am.
quicknomore
Coastvl just remember the dirt they make the tracks out of these days is a lot harder. Well at least it seems that way when I hit it anyway.

Have a ball mate I know I did first time back.

Don't forget to tell us how it went.
Mr.BMX
Coastvl,

Don't focus on being nervous, just have FUN, and ENJOY wot you're doing.

I raced at last years (november) Vic state plate titles, my first race in 21 years, and won #3plate in 35-39men class.
I wasnt nervous or fussed about it, i had caught up with some old names and it felt like more of a social event than a race event.

My legs, heart & lungs never forgave me for torturing them so much, but i'm working on that ;-)
hehehehehhee.

Hi Aussies,

I wanna know what you guys would prefer when you navigate thru my museum on my site (or any site).

Currently the museum is divided into 150 brandname categories, so if you're into redline, mongoose, SE, GT then you goto that menu, and check out all the items from that particular manufacturer.

I've made changes at home but havent uploaded to the site yet, and have changed the musum to be approx 50 categories (less menu browsing for you), based on TYPES of parts, so now you would be looking at options like frames, forks, bars, seats, pedals, wheels, jerseys, pants etc etc......and each of these categories would have ALL the mixed manufacturers products inside.

I'm not sure what you guys search for more often, do you look by brandname? or parts?

I know i could have BOTH systems, but then it's twice the work to update new items, plus 2 menu structures, and possibly making it more confusing to navigate around.

Mr.BMX (Marty)

Check my "RETRO RIDERS" site if you wanna see the current museum
