Got home from work yesterday and my missus had driven an hour to get me a 50mm spacer for the supergoose.

All I need now is a cone wrench to fit a tioga beartrap 2 so I can get the headset right.

Anyone know what size cone wrench I need for a Tioga Bear Trap 2 headset ?

GTHODAD
Apparently td sent the misses straight back to that shop to get a cone wrench and noone has heard from him since. Is he still alive? Can someone go check on him ohmy.gif laugh.gif

Looks great Brena. Build to ride or build to show is all good. I too have more fun riding. smile.gif
Nothing wrong with taiwanese Flights, just call em new school flights.
COASTY
The fact you ride it mate is all that matters. I ride all mine at some point. This one hasn't been in this thread for about 5 years. Nothings changed !

There's the Bottemas biggrin.gif

Great collection of bikes Coasty.

My next project - assuming I can find one will be a 1979 / 1980 Robinson.

I had a about 5 mins on one back in the early 80's and have wanted one ever since.

broke L345
looks like you have a thing for Tuffs Glenn.

Speaking of Bottemas, I have had these for ages hanging in the shed, I finally have something worthy to put them on......eagerly waiting on the postie atm.

Love your og Goose Glenn.......looks tough!

LOL Christian, all my bikes have Tuffs except two. The one above with the motomags and my Dragsters with Steelies.

Thanks for the props guys. They're not much but they are all mine.
Ben, what's the new one? I can bet it is going to be a great build without even seeing it.
COASTY
Oh and the 07 Quad has some JC Bottemas (1 1/8th) getting chromed as we speak. Thanks to Troy for supplying the courier service he does for me.

As always very nice Martin!

Glenn, I will post a few pics up early next week when it arrives, i just tracked it and it is currently @ Miami Fl about to jump a plane..........It has been a bumpy ride with this one, secured it 3 years ago this August so its been a long time coming........

Martin: Thats the best Robinson I have seen. Perfect build.

As for me: Went for a ride before work this morning.

Pedal strikes and chain rub which is par for the course on any mongoose.

Chain alignment is good but the newschool tuffs have the freewheel just a little too close to the inside of the frame.

Hopefully a washer between the hub and the frame will fix the chain rub.

No known cure for the pedal strikes but it does bring on flash backs to 1981 when I first experienced it.
broke L345
my shins feel like a rat has been gnawing at them from all the pedals that have hit them.

Being a 70's freak and lover of Rat traps I have plenty of scars. Lots and lots.

Sure do. I wish I bought more than one set back then. They cost me $149 shipped.

Don't let James do the accountant calculations on that...he'll suddenly tell you that is would now be $1398 in today's money laugh.gif
Jarvi
Very funny Stu. Probably closer to the cost of a speeding fine in today's money. How much was that again?
84profile
Boom! Now twist the knife!

Be careful, I'm not the dude driving the fancy car! smile.gif
COASTY
Depends on the speed I guess. Kid at work just lost his P's. $366 +4 points.
He thinks he's cool now. I told him about all my previous fines and losses and shut him up real quick !LOL

That Robbo is insanely nice ! Love that model.

I have been waiting anxiously for my postie, today he came through.....

Holey Moley Benny!

Stu,

When I get off this iPhone (hate typing on it!) I will break it down but in short I secured it off Jeff Haney three years ago this August, it was a little worse for wear and needed a repair, An original down tube was sourced from the og fab shop (true radius) and Jeff went to work organising the project......this is the og gold Nomura that was the "mothership" or template that was utilised to reprint the high res Nomura decals that Juan and Jeff got reproduced......I still have the og down tube and after three attempts Jeffs anno shop has nailed the colour, it is spot on to the original and I could not be happier.

Jeff has worked closely with me during the last three years and he has gone above and beyond with this project, he would not accept second best and in typical Haney style he nailed it.......

Will add more when of this bloody phone.

COASTY
Geezuz !! The heavens opened and a gold Nomura fellout !!
That is sweet !
84profile
Wow that is epic mate! I can't type on my ipone, the auto correct text gets me in all sorts smile.gif

Kidding, that is amazing, I was going to ask it was NOS. Very few of those floating around...can't wait to see you sprinkle your magic on it smile.gif
pr200
You know what the M1's are going on now Glenn!
pr200
Jeff needs to take the praise for this one Stu, he was absolutely amazing during the process (as mentioned it went back to the anodisers a few times as it was a different hue, until it was exactly matched to the og gold under the og decal on the og downtube------that's a lot of og's) his eye for detail is amazing, I knew it was going to be good but this blew my mind when I opened the box!!!!
broke L345
WOW, that is perfect!!!
COASTY
I can't wait to see how this turns out mate. Looks beautiful.

I don't know what pedals to buy for my mongoose. I had Odyssey plastics on but they didn't look right. I then put some VP-747 Bear Trap pedals on - which are complete garbage - they flex and look crap.

My favourite flat pedals are Straitline which I use on my All Mountain Bike. However, they look a little funky on a BMX.

Are any of the old school pedals even remotely close to being as good as what Straitline make these days or am I asking too much?

Some of the bullseye pedals look the business but I have never actually used them so can only go on looks.

cheers.
COASTY
Can't go past Shimano DX pedals imo. I have them on my Supergoose and they are still going strong after 32 years.

Thanks

I had red DX pedals on the bike when it was running the 175mm Mongoose 1pc cranks [Paid around $27 in 1982]. If I could find some black 9/16" DX pedals for a reasonable price I'd given them a run again.

Are parts available to rebuild them if I can only find a well used set ?
COASTY
The end caps were available years ago. I'm not sure if they are still around?
The pins I have seen replaced with welding rods? LOL true
tdunster
Someone just paid $875 + $35 postage for a 1981 Supergoose frame on that big arse auction site who's name I won't mention.

Is the Supergoose with the hole behind the BB more desirable ? [I'm not a fan myself] Or has the seller found the once in a lifetime buyer all sellers dream of ?

Welcome to the site Shane. Good to hear you still have your old school ride.

I purchased my Supergoose from Champion Cycles Baulkham Hills... and still have it.

You guys are kidding me?
I was sponsored by Champion at Baulkham Hills. I was there every day. That's where I bought my Supergoose too.
I raced at Blacktown, Liverpool and Minto occasionally.

Where is the area to add descriptions of my bike and can anyone tell me what it could be worth. Though I am keeping it.

Most of the Aussie guys just post the pics in this thread on this site.
We never took a lot of pics but one mate did. Lucky for me he has shared them with me over the last 8 years I've been op here.
Everyone has different values on a bike. Have a look at ebay and search the completed sales. That will give you an idea.
It's frowned upon on most sites to ask but that will help you out.
There are two Aussie forums where most guys hang out.

Welcome Shane. I'm not a former customer of Champion Cycles!

A few photos of what looks like a decent skatepark in Geneva. So many lines. Only skaters there so not sure if bikes are allowed.
