Holy crap Brian, what a friggin mess. Our hospital system is completely hammered...I'm in awe of how much money is right royally pis$ed up with wall in this country and yet we also send our remaining tax dollars off shore to help other countries get there systems in place WTF..we need to get our own crap together here first!!!

I have nothing to complain about compared to you right now Brian, but my time will arrive with fury from all reports and I'll be busy ramming every possible pain killer in my system, if the pain is anything like what I had last weekend!

Oh and I swear the $2000 a year I spend on private health care is absolutely useless!!! I asked about the procedure to have my loose rock ultra sounded and I was told its not an overnight procedure so it's not covered. Might have to stage an asthma attack at the same time so I can stay in overnight while I get my rocks tazered!!!

Kicking soap box aside now...now can I blame the drugs on the fact I bought some gen 3 Profiles off the honorable Andy Diamond?? Thanks mate, can't wait to put em on something smile.gif

With being a pin cushion and all... and I was even a dart board sad.gif A mate who works at a well know establishment, told me years ago, Private health cover is a Huge scam... So no, I dont have it, and never will. Im sure it works well for some people...

Meh im not complaining... i found some oxycontin.. After being a dart board today... It feels ok right now...

And Stu, Andy is a great dude... Giggity... biggrin.gif sorry im high on pills... and the leg feels good to... I can walk!

Geez i need to find a good hospital...

I have private health cover too but they never let me in, last time I was hospitalised with a virus, they said they don't accept contagious people. rolleyes.gif

I used to go past the Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital when out running and it would give me the creeps. Felt like I could catch something just going past. Being the germophobe that I am, there's no way I could work at a place like that. Then again, I've found quite a few places I can't work in that are much more sterile...

hey was looking through my photo bucket, and saw these that you took, I love these pictures

Just got home from the pub and thankfully the week is over. I'm trashed again.
No worries Kurt. I hope it works out ok for your build.
Short story on health funds. Sara had our baby in the Gold Coast Hospital and her sis had hers at Alamanda. Both had the same doctor. Sara had a view of the Gold Coast from her bed and we paid for nothing. Her sister had a few of a bush on the ground floor and it still cost her over $2000. Why would you pay for health cover?
Looking for a Tange cro-mo spindle too guys.
Cheers.

Nice grab on the Profiles Stu. I sat on Andy's Pr200 when I visited him in Akl a few years back. That was one of the, if not the, best pr200's I have seen.

It's a real shame to see Andy part with his collection, but he is content doing so.

Every time you post a pic of that pub Coasty I want to go there more - especially in this weather

On the private health thing - when I busted my elbow and needed to have the radial head replaced, I had only been in private health care for around 5 years (as a family package including kids - lowest cover)

When I did the sums at the end of it all the whole lot could have ended up costing me $35,000.00, the implant alone is costs $8000!!!

The benefits I had were:

Almost immediate attention from private emergency department including a specialist, Surgery within 12 hours of consultation, overnight in a single room, sponge bath from a lovely nurse, 3 more consultations with surgeon, all X-rays and MRI were walk in walk out - no sitting in waiting rooms for hours, full rehab with OT and Phyisio as well, all to suit my work and need to keep running a business.

In the end I worked out that I had paid around $2500 for private health cover over six years - but had also claimed eye tests and glasses rebates over time and quarterly dentist visits for what could possibly cost the "free" system over $40K

I find it interesting that people have full insurance on a car, but not on themselves, although, the government won't fix your car for you if its broken

Oh - and I need a red Cook Brothers seat clamp - willing to swap for titanium elbow replacement

Jarvi
I'm looking for an oceanfront home rent free. Have a few BMX things to trade. Just putting it out there...

The health insurance thing is a debate like clips v flats. As we grow older it becomes a bit more important as the elective surgery type things (e.g. hip replacement) mean without insurance or the ability to pay, you can be on the list for years and in the interim your quality of life can be impacted. You can always head over to Thailand and pump yourself up with so many steroids that your body becomes a robot and no need for repairs.

Spare a thought for me about to run the health insurance gauntlet over here.

Hope you are on the improve Brian, or at least getting better health care.
Kurt.

Yeah Ben it's a great spot. That's why we go there every friday arvo for a few beers.
I hear what your saying about the big ops with health care. Rehab too. I just have to hope I don't come off ! LOL
Kurt.
Yeah on Health Insurance - I've been a Medibank Private member for 25 years. Although it's not cheap, the assistance we have received through having 4 kids (and all the hospital visits that come with raising kids) as well as the many health issues we have had with Julies back injury have absolutely made it worthwhile.

The State Government hospital systems have really been hit by the reduction in GST revenue with the downturn in the economy over the last few years. Even though the Mining Tax revenue will replace some of that, with an aging (and fattening) population, hospitals will continue to be under massive pressure. The Libs record on health funding is no better than Labour so that won't change anything. Medical costs rise phenomenally every year due to new advances in treatments.

So all in all looking forward to at least another 25 years of health insurance!!!

Each to their own I spose, but there is no way I would roll the dice and not have private health, peace of mind more than anything.

I have heard some horror stories in regards to our public hospitals and with a young family i feel way more comforatble knowing that we are covered.

Broke - I have a set of Cheng Shin Comp IIIs - is that what you wanted or the big knobby ones?
The set is the nice skinwall CompIII copies - 2.125 front & 1.75 rear - bought from Ginny Rini (RIP) and only on a show bike.

I've got a few more bits for sale - all over at OZBMX but hit me if you need a list.
