James - LOL....my knowledge of Freestyle era is very small. laugh.gif

Kurt - Here's a pic of the drive arm stampings for you.

Kurt.
Wow. They are early. The conventional Shimano "Letter Letter" date stampings began in 1976, so it must be earlier.

So I'd say 5 E = 1975 May.

The symbol below the "Japan" is a bunch of three arrows - the family crest of Takagi. Which of course is part of the Shimano empire.

Sweetest set of Tourney's I've seen!
Volcano
Cheers mate...and I was thinking the same age (May 1975).... will go with the TX-200 Tange 1975 forks. biggrin.gif

Thank you Christian....lol biggrin.gif
Mr. Smith
Well after ten years of collecting all I can say is all you Australian collectors are good blokes in my book.
I've never dealt with more honest people in my life then you guys.

All you ask is for intergrity and honesty in my (our) descritptions and proper packaging to AU and you are happy.

I wish dealing with my American collectors was that easy. laugh.gif

I know exactly how most of them are .... I won't even go there as all it will create is drama. tongue.gif

So with that in mind I would like to thank everyone of you who has ever bought from me in the past and will do so in the future....

As well most of you befriended me not only as a collector but also as a friend.

Thanks to all and best wishes ... wink.gif

Rob

Kurt.
You are a good guy in my book Rob.

I was just up at Lewis' place a couple of weeks ago (he is about an hour east of me, in my old hometown) and just had that same conversation about you.

Cheers mate

digging those red wheels Mick.

Volcano
Thanks mate....pics dont do them justice (the Ambrosio red is deep & rich) drinks.gif
Kurt.
Man it is frustratingly hard work to sell anything on Oz at the moment.

Think I might just stick to eBay from now on. Not much seems to be selling from anyone really.

Please feel free to tell me if any of you guys thing my prices are over the top - I usually (used to at least!) have a pretty good feel for prices. And I remember what I paid for most stuff...

I hate to say it Kurt but I dont think theres that many people building bikes anymore. In fact, I think OZ has just become a place for dudes to hang out and chat about anything these days as most guys that go there are like minded in their day to day lives.

As far as your prices go, I think they're more than fair. I thought the tyres would have gone for sure as genuine old school tyres are getting harder to find. Mind you, porkchop has helped kill off alot of sales too with all the repop stuff.
Kurt.
Thanks Reece - I think you are right on the Oz scene.

I didn't even get lowball offers on anything, so it's like people are just not buying full stop.

Looking at most of the sale threads there doesn't seem to be much action. The economy I guess.

I thought about the pinched Tange forks however I would be putting them with my Mongoose Motomag frame and a shame to remove stickers to then put the Mongoose ones.

Hey Queensland folks - just a reminder about this HUGE event, get along and show your support....

QuicksilverBMX
I got this, but I have honestly never heard of it, i was like "um yeah thanks?"

COASTY
Looks good Reece,. While we're on the subject, do you think you could find me a JD white label? WA and SA only. Nowhere else in the world !
QuicksilverBMX
bourbon or merchandise? but yeah I can organise that if you like
COASTY
Apparently it's a bottle that is only made for your market. If your in a shop it would be cool. Depends what they're worth I guess.

Happy Birthday Pete - hope you had a great day

Fantastic River City run with the Brisbane guys today - the sky was totally cloudless and not a breeze

Great mix of bikes too, A couple of S & M's some freestyle stuff, A DB 24, and a couple of mad kids riding circles around us

I'll see if I can dig up some photos but from memory we had around 25 riders
Kurt.
Happy belated birthdays Reece and Pete.

Bit green today Reece!?

Looks like Pete got a vintage Colonel Ssnders sign for his Birthday. Mr Retro!!!
QuicksilverBMX
Yeah I pulled up ok, had the Party on Friday night. One of my mates into old school stuff got me an 85' Street Machine magazine!

Just got done with this little cutie...
It's a replica (very close) of a bike that belonged to a mate I went to high school with. It's a little short but It is surprisingly comfortable. Just been riding around the cul-de-sac like it was 1977 all over again.

Volcano
Happy Birthday Reece drinks.gif Hope you had a cracking 40th party mate!

Glenn - sweet build mate - love it

Got a set of Shimano DX cranks & pedals off Ben today - in great condition to restore. biggrin.gif

Kurt.
Holy crap nice one Mick & Ben. The nylon spacer looks pretty damn good too - that's the hardest bit to get. Should dye up a treat too wink.gif

Love the Dragster MX Glenn.

Has anyone got a spare 44T Three Arrows chainring just like that floating around. Need one for my childhood build - hard to get now. Lots of bits to trade!
Volcano
Kurt I have a 44t three arrows if you need it mate...will call you.

Kurt.
Thanks for the call Mick.

You little ripper! That's the very last bit I need for my childhood DB wink.gif

New/old rider time machine on the way very soon!

PM sent.
broke L345
that bike is a cracker Glenn, keep the pictures coming guys!

happy birthday to the Quicksilver people
Kurt.
I've probably posted this before, but this is the only pic I have been able to find of my old DB BITD. Pic taken at Xmas time 1985 about a year before I sold her.

Bike was an evolution from 1979 through to then!

QuicksilverBMX
Far out that must be frustrating! I know I wish I had more pics of the Quicksilver from BITD
Brisben
I totally agree Reece - of all the time I spent on bikes back in the day I only have two pics of 5 of the bikes and both are extremely embarrassing !

Oh and happy birthday mate - May is a big month for this thread - I think a certain Mongoose collector is up next....

Kurt, I am a bit dissapointed - I thought you were an animal carer and you let your puppy drink Crown Lager???? laugh.gif

Kurt.
lol. Thankfully I'm a wee bit anal and I could remember exactly what parts I had on her when I sold her in October '86.

Buying most of her back from the family I sold her to in 1996 helped too!

As she is now.... Frame, bars, polished seat clamp and stem top clamp are my original parts. Only the seat tube decal is a survivor from BITD.

Takagi MX 170mm cranks, DX pedals, Tange BB, black MX1000 caliper ready to go. Original wheels in my shed need a detail - Silver Araya 7C with high flange Suzue and polished rear Ukai with Normandy high flange flip-flop.

Really looking forward to having a ride again wink.gif

QuicksilverBMX

Looking forward to the finished product!

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys smile.gif
COASTY
Lookin good Kurt. Should be awesome mate.
I may have something else to show by the end of the week. ph34r.gif
Brisben
Kurt - what ever happened to the DC DB???

I have been waiting for that one forever!

I think I have decided on my next build thanks to Kurt selling some Cook Bros pads - so I reckon i will step that one up a gear on the parts acquisition register, if anyone has an og finish red Cook Bros seat clamp I don't need to sell the kids for let me know dry.gif
Kurt.
Looking forward to that CBR build Ben wink.gif

Yeah the '78 DC tribute is still crated up basically ready to go. Powder F&F and reanno rims and she's done. I'm not rushing it, soonish though wink.gif

Currently thinning out my collection to make room really.
QuicksilverBMX

If any of you guys are chasing anything for your builds let me know (the usual stuff like I have sent you all in the past) as we are having a big swapmeet here on the 27th May and the best part of my collection with be going down in as many milk crates and my car will carry, so get your requests in smile.gif
