Anyone got a spare set of Snakebelly 20" gumwall copy tyres in black?
Jarvi
Jul 2 2011, 04:50 AM
Hey Mick, I think it might be snakebellies on the dashboard of this Merc. It's not an AMG, FAB or some other aftermarket tuner I didn't know.

I'm in Dubai for a few days and the car above plus the ones below are all in the hotel driveway at the same time.

Looks like the perfect place for me as there are heaps of exotic cars (three late model Ferraris, Maserati, three Porsches screaming around in the space of less than an hour) and they are all filthy with dust.
A tad warm for riding and only saw one person out. A great walk around the marina which would also be a good old school cruise ride if the temperature was closer to 30 rather than 40.

Very cool dashboard on the S class James. I do love a tuff Merc.
Jarvi
Jul 2 2011, 05:10 AM
You've have a heart attack over here though Glenn. Or perhaps just plenty of work opportunities... There's a couple of guys in the beach carpark that dry wash cars. In 40 degrees on asphalt they earn their money. This was early in the morning from my hotel room. There's now a bronze coloured Lambo Gallardo there too.

Oh, I forgot this one and didn't grab a photo of the GTO Monaro. See how dusty it is considering it's actually a gloss black.

Some serious dust over there.....

Jul 2 2011, 08:55 AM
Mick, I think you'll find that black and orange car is a KTM (as in the dirt bike manufacturer!) They are insanely fast! Like Veyron fast ... 0-100 times... 2.5 Seconds!!...
Good see you are doing it tough again James!
Jarvi
Jul 2 2011, 10:02 AM
Yes Stu it is a KTM. Maserati count is now up to three. They sound great just putting along in traffic and then they open them up in first or second gear.
Going to be tough to go back to my budget after the stay here. Good news is everything sorted until I get back to Australia in early December. Lucky I know a bunch of people around the country to couch surf with! Staying here takes me back to my Andersen Consulting days when they were picking up the bill rather than me.

Deep down I think we all knew you would change them. You're attention to details wouldn't allow you to knowingly have something around the wrong way.
I didn't notice it on the original either. Never a DX crank fan, although they do look perfect on that bike.

I know this one doesn't compare to Martin's bikes, however, it's certainly unique in its own way. eg v-brakes and gryo? Is it race, is it freestyle? Spotted at the Dubai Mall. In fairness to all, I did see a We The People in another shop so all is not lost for the BMX community of Dubai.

Perhaps the skaters are tougher though. Spotted a few out today in the 40 degree heat. With all the cement/asphalt around, it's even hotter in areas where you can skate. There are some fantastic looking places to street skate and street BMX. I'm guessing the security guys are on to the pretty fast.

I think my ratio of bike to non-bike photos is getting pretty low so I'll stick to only one from the Burj Khalif tower. World's tallest building and this was taken from 124 storeys up. There's another 40 or so above the observation deck. This one looks like a model to me.

I went up the CN Tower years ago and my friend was a bit unsure about the glass floor. Heights don't worry me except for the edges or piers/wharves etc. More a fear of falling into the dirty water below.
The building makes everything look small in comparison. Difficult to get a decent photo of just how tall it is because of the haze.
If you want to check it out a bit more go to the

James, It does look like a model..
Cant imagine what the top floor shots would look like

How much sandends up in the resort pools over there?
Great pic.
Jarvi
Jul 5 2011, 01:56 AM
Hadn't thought about the pools although it has to end up in there because it's everywhere else.
I don't know how the construction guys do it. Hardly a life for all the overseas workers who come to work and send their money back home. They get bused in, work all day in 40 degrees and then bused home. A sad life really because their families are back home.

No, not Dubai. I bought that one back in Hawaii last year and it travels with me instead of the BMX this year. Upgraded with some softer Sector 9 wheels too.
Some of the roads here in Sevilla have bike paths so I might take it for a spin once I know the area a bit better, otherwise it will just be a case of getting lost faster.
