Nice survivor.
Reece, parcel came today. Thanks mate. Appreciate it.
Just getting my stuff together for the trip to the Gold Coast. Should be awesome.
It has been very quiet on most forums of late.
After this weekend there will be a buzz around.

Well I'll get in before anyone else does. Managed to crash into a stationary object whilst on the ride today. Did the little kid thing of looking behind and ran into Craig. In all fairness to him, he had pulled off to the side of the path although I was used to dodging idiot tourist who see a bunch of bikes coming and decide the best place to stop is the middle of the path... All in all a great day with a few good views and seeing people I hadn't seen for months or longer.

Geez its been quite around here.............

I hope that someone posts pics from BMXposed, I need to see a pic of Norms Red, White and Blue........

Have been waiting for ever and a day to receive these nos 7x's that came from Mexico, deadset its the longest i have waited for anything to be shipped to me, the Mexican Postal Service must be very laidback, they took delivery of them on the 21/12/2010 but they did not leave Mexico until 13/01/2011.....

They will be paired up with a set of bullseyes and will be going on one of the Pattersons...

Nice rims smile.gif It took me ages to hunt down a NOS set of gold 7x 24 x 1.75's about three years back. I ended finding some locally smile.gif

What colour hubs are you lacing into them? I have silver flange/blue centre Bullseyes, but I want to change them out to first gen GT hubs in chrome one day.

Big thanks to Craig, Helensvale BMX and everyone else who helped make today a great one. I certainly picked the correct week to come up to Queensland. Here's a few photos. Before anyone asks, no I don't have the contact details for the girl in the Unit poster. Craig might be able to help!

Jarvi
A few more.

The following has to be my favourite shot of the day. Matt's lineup of mid-school bikes was amazing. I learnt so much about the era just from looking at his, including Auburn, Kastan, Revtec, S&M, Supercross, Powerlite, GT, Crisp, Robinson and some I have probably missed.

COASTY
EWhat a great day. I had a great time and thanks to Craig and the boys at Helensvalebmx. What a blast.
Flying trip home too. My quickest ever!
Kurt.
Nice gear guys!

So, this weekend I spent a couple of days on the west coast of Tassie doing the tourist thing - bushwalking, Macquarie Harbour and Gordon River cruise, convict ruins etc - and would you believe it I was on the same boat as the president of the Launceston BMX Club. Got to chatting about vintage BMX (he has a couple) and ended up I am heading up to Launceston in 4 weeks for their "Come and Try" day.

So it'll be my first race in 28 years or so. It's a great track that I have ridden on a couple of times but never raced on (this track came after my day).

I know there are a few here that have taken the plunge. Any tips guys???

Jarvi
At your second race meeting when they let everyone ride the track backwards, remember what is on the other side of the jumps otherwise you will find yourself sitting in the emergency room with a fractured clavical. Then when practising for your return five months later, don't get excited and let your ambition exceed your ability otherwise you'll find yourself in the doctor's surgery telling them you need an x-ray, painkillers, a referral to the same specialist you saw five months before for exactly the same injury.

Serious though, do take it easy. Whilst not everyone was as slow to learn as me, more than a few have done some damage thanks to their comeback.

Just got back from a nice 3 week trip to Hobart to catch up with all the family (so I couldnt get up to your neck of the woods Kurt, but next time) caught up on a million pages of reading, too much to reply to lol. God to be back, glad all you QLDers are safe and I hope the cyclone misses everyone up north.

I havent contacted roberto yet to see if the Whitebear is safe, too frightened lol.
Kurt.
Yeah I wondered about Rob's factory, but haven't been on Oz since before Christmas. Did Lewis and Sons get flooded out?

I saw Robert on Sunday and all is cool at the factory so no need to worry about any of your parts he has there.

nice looking show at the Helensvale show. good luck Kurt with the racing.

hope everyone in the cyclones path will be ok.
bmxmom
hey kurt - remember that bike time prior to hitting the track is not so you can be fast but so you won't need oxygen when you cross the finish line. also, (and mind you i didn't have a problem with this on my first race) don't try to go too fast. i don't know how many out of control dads i saw bite it who were trying to prove they still had it. finishing the race with your seat back and folding tray in their full upright position is a win smile.gif have a blast man!
Brisben
Hey Kurt - I wish our track was like that - they just keep getting "bigger" with pro sections and triples and stuff, that track is the sort of track I would feel more comfortable with.

Just remember to keep the black stuff facing the dirt and you'll be fine

On another note

Have any of youse ever seen one of these?

I'm guessing 84/85ish

COASTY
Nope never seen one of those before Ben.
Kurt, the KOS is made by Mongoose so who knows. It does look cool though. I'd love the "oldschoolify" it!
Thats my new word too.
Kurt.
Yeah it looks really good to me too Ben. Unfortunately the club has just received a grant to redesign the straights and jumps and resurface the track with that fast hard smooth stuff ...

Spotto gratuitous Vedel bird placement shot lol. Damn danish designers!

That's about the height I can jump so fine for me.

while we're showing pictures of stems, I would like to thank Matt for my newest purchase.

will be going on this

Kurt.
Beautiful Cook stem Christian. Wow - that's some exotica. The right stem is just the key to a build don't you think. Really don't see many of those pre-slantline babies.

Murano???
broke L345
I know, it weighs half a tonne but as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I love the stranger 70's stems at the moment. (not that I have that many) the Redline double clamp would still be one of my favourites.

yep, Murano and Rodd side board. laugh.gif

He's fine - just had some serious virus issues with his computer - had to be sent to the shop for data recovery

and in the middle of all that he misplaced his mobile for a day or two

Kurt.
Bugger bum. That's bad. Must have bigtime withdrawals lol.

I never seem to manage to catch Mick on his mobile - no reception down in that little valley.

Have to give him a call on his home phone this weekend.

Thanks Ben.

Hey guys......Im back smile.gif

Had some things to deal with (few personal & non-personal issues) ....working thru them...but all good now.

As Ben said.....yes, my computer crashed ...and for those who know what that is like Im sure u will understand.
Luckily all my files (both business & VBMX) were eventually saved.......phew!!!

Sorry I missed the "Old Coast" event that Craig put on last weekend...looked like a good show.

Working on a few builds...might debut them at "Blast from the Past" in March (if they are ready) or at Roberto's this year.

Kurt - look forward to the call mate smile.gif

Christian - Congrats on the 10 hole G-Boy! Awesome frame
