Ben's office is now clean of the mud! ....happy to help u out mate

Myself & Ben are heading back out 2moro to volunteer our time to help with the Massive clean up.
What area are you in mick...I'm cleaning out the streets of Jindalee and Centenary. We all got sent there from the redlands. We drive up everyday from the depot. It's heartbreakin' to see some of the stuff everyone has to throw away. Not only is it every possession they own....but the all the gyrock walls, the ceiling the carpets are all being pulled out, thrown on the footpath and then gerny all the inner studs and inside the roof. Just skelletons with a roof and outer walls. Looks like we are stayin' till it's done at this stage.

No-one's talking BMX so here's a photo of the loan car I had for the last few days whilst mine was being serviced. Can't say I was that impressed although it might have been because it was an automatic, or whatever fancy name Porsche call it.

Cheers, it was a quiet day

And thanks for your reply to my "topic" about wether you raced or not etc. You have certainly stayed true to the sport.
You are right, in that I remember that enthusiasm from back in the day, and the atmosphere and the thrill of the racing. I guess that has indeed transpired into the bikes I have. I certainly dug the cruisers more, which is why I dont own any 20's anymore.

Porsche call it PDK or something. Think they have moved away from tiptronic now. Has manual mode with paddles on the steering wheel, it's just I forget to change gears if I don't have a clutch.
Mike, I forgot to reply about the racing career etc. Will do it next week when I've settle into my new location.
Nice one Christian. Package on the way to you as well. Enjoy.

I was just going over some old racing photos that one of my parents gave me the other day, and it got me wondering.....
Who here raced back in the early eighties? Did you race at local, national, or even, international level? What national ranking did you achieve? Anyone sponsored? What bikes did you ride?
I lived in the country and our town had no bmx track. I found a copy of Bicycle Motorcross Action 79', and i was hooked big time. I turned my dragster into a bmx bike...then sold my horse and bought a secondhand bmx bike from the local bike shop. I really wanted to Race but couldn't get to a track. 1981 i turned 14 and my parents took me to Centenary BMX track and droped me off there for the day. I signed up with Beenleigh bmx club at the track that day so i could race. I was riding a madison taipan. I bought a new frame and fork set on my 16th birthday. Patterson racing. I raced that till over 17 and open ran out of riders, so the remaining 3 of us went Pro. I was the only pro for Beenleigh club at the time. I raced in S/E Queensland until 86'....after that i did freestyle till 2006-07.

SR Turbox cranks
Maybe SR Turbo or Cosmo lite
Do I win a prize?

Ya got it! CosmoKramerLites they are. Have never used them and have heard mixed reports about them. Some say they bend way easy, some say the chainwheel stop snaps off and some say they are as strong as other one piece. I have Takagi crmos as a back up.

I bought a bike at the tip yesterday for $8. It had the same cranks/spider/chainwheel/bolts and KKT Lightnings on it. It was a POS dept store bike with a great parts list. The front wheel was a bit odd. heavy duty steel rim and spokes with a drilled out Suzue hub. All the good bits are blue too.

My first bike an MX121 had steel rims with fat spokes and costerbrake. I bought a Suzue hi flange hub for it and the local mower [I tried to curse or teh suk at spelling] bike shop drilled out the hub to fit the spokes to it.

I'm on the Gold Coast for a few months (Broadbeach this week and not sure for the rest) so any locals who feel like company on a bike ride then sing out. Flexible hours so if work isn't happening for you I can probably make it then as well.
Also, keep me posted about local rides as I don't visit the OZ forum.
