So maybe Randy was era incorrect? Would make me life alot easier, I've got chrome and clear backed. However, the clear backed decals have blue script. On a black frame, they might wash out. Will test this and see.

Mr.BMX, I gotta get you to lean on my chromer! LOL
freestyler
wow i can now resize pics lol
only taken 4 months hehehehehe
AndyDiamond
Chris - as I said before, if the GT decals you have that you put on your blue GT are the same they are not correct for a pre 84 GT (wing logo with 4130 CHROME MOLY underneath).

Pre 84 decals should have Santa Ana Ca under the wing logo (like the ones in the photo below, which are actually chrome-backed and Randy's repops).

You can get reproductions of these from Kent at Singlespeed shop in Germany.
His sets also include the NORA Cup decal which is cool if you have an 83 bike.

I don't know about everybody else here, but I'm getting NOTHING done today. This thread is distracting . . . but lots of fun. Lucky I didn't get into this when it started. LOL
AndyDiamond
Martin - I'd go with the chrome-backed decals on the black frame
dugga
OK I've resized my pic too.... my apologies to the bandwidth impaired
Yeah fully agree about DC.... great guy to deal with
www.martin-bike.com
Cool Andy, thanks.

BTW, I LOVE decals to go with my love of number plates. I want your Bicylce Source decal BAD!

Martin
AndyDiamond
hee hee - I actually got that sticker from Perry Kramer in 1983 at teh Trans Tasman Challenge - they were handing out rolls of those things - that's my last one
freestyler
can any one tell me what era these belong too

cheers freestyler
prosight
Andy i know you say that there the wrong stickers but that is what come on it and its a 1981 frame and i all so got a 83 frame with the same stickers and my 24inch had the same and it a 82 so all the GT's that i have found in OZ all came with the type that i have on my frame the CR-MO type
prosight
Jas I need that set of stickers if there up for grabs

FREESTYLER :
They look to be from the dark era hehehehe ;-)

Oh yeh, flash !!!

The "4130 Chrome Moly" are the later GT decals, 83+ ???
Anyone? Anyone?
www.martin-bike.com
Freestyler, those 4130 decals are for post-84 bikes. Maybe from late 84 at a stretch.

Round head tube decal from much earlier onward - same with the GT wing.
AndyDiamond
those are 1984 decals.

Lots of repops of those floating about.
Not all of them that great unfortunately
www.martin-bike.com
Frestyler,

Are those clear backed Profile decals I see???
dugga
hey freestyler you want to sell those silver / grey drippy PK decals I spy in the top left hand corner?
AndyDiamond
Chris - dunno mate.
Decals are decals - they can be replaced, unlike serial numbers that tell the true age.

If you are happy with them, fine.
The headtube rounds were pretty much the same all the way through (They even still said Santa Ana Ca for quite some time after the Huntington Beach move).
freestyler
any body else want to put there 2bobs worth in
i dont think there repos andy since ive had them from the age of 13teen which would make it about 1983
AndyDiamond
Chris - the XCII pedals on ebay ended up going for $317 USD....
prosight
**** i better sell a set to pay for my Quad...lol
www.martin-bike.com
Chris, I'll swap you some correct Santa Anna decals for your Robinson! LOL
freestyler
sorry martin there not clears
dugga sorry to you too

prosight
So you did not say sorry to me Jas so i can get the GT stickers...lol
prosight
Martin i do not want to rip you off...
freestyler
i think it your turn chris to ring meeeeeeeeeee
hey lol
www.martin-bike.com
: (

I'm looking for clear or black backed Profile decals. These I'm 100% are correct - I have photographic evidence and ozdirtboy has Darren May's Profile race bike from BITD that has clear backed decals on a black frame.

Was somebody here doing a run of decals recently???
AndyDiamond
I didn't say they WERE repops mate - I said there were lots of repops of that style around, not allof them great (some of the yellow can appear quite 'green' etc).
www.martin-bike.com
Ok Chris, I understand! LOL
freestyler
hey martin you should hook up with darren his also in hong kong
AndyDiamond
Martin - try Chris Baron for the Profile decals.
I think he is getting out of BMX for a while so you may have to tread carefully.
www.martin-bike.com
This place sounds like a kitchen at a party - lots of conversations happening at the same time. LOL
www.martin-bike.com
Thanks Andy, I've already tried Chris. No luck there either.
Mr.BMX
Actually the GT "4130" decals which have the lighter blue "4130" writing are local Oz repro's from back in the 80's when several OZ sticker companies were supplying decals to all the bikeshops.
(the USA ones are a darker navy blue)

Any decal with a blank, "jac", "fasson" or "avery" backing paper is Oz repro from the 80's.
So, as much as we think we have originals from BITD, we still have fakes ;-)

Pretty much all USA early decals had "Dri-Mark" or other Californian decal company backing paper, only the later ones went 'blank'.
You can certainly tell the diff between USA & OZ decals, especially if you understand silkscreen printing techniques, and cheap shortcuts the OZ blokes used ;-(

I've been researching stix & repro's for several years now, and you'd be shocked about how much of your collections are OZ junk ;-(

No offence intended ;-)
AndyDiamond
1984 GT with 4130 decals.
Frame and fork sets came like this, full bikes had different decals ie. Team Series, Mach One and Pro Series had their own decals.

Mr.BMX
eeeww, repro Vans ;-)
prosight
My hole collection is junk....and i should know it's my junk..lol
www.martin-bike.com
Anybody know where I can get a blue Santa Anna pad set? Impactonline doesn't offer them anymore.
www.martin-bike.com
Chris, I think you need to toss your Robinson junk my way. LOL
Mr.BMX
Junk Galore hehehehe
prosight
The postie just droped my JAG pads off..
Im very happy they cost me $40 shipped
freestyler
lololololololhehehehehe
AndyDiamond
I've have tonnes of junk - buy it!

Martin - my pads are repops as you can tell.
They guy who made them doesn't have the time to do them which sucks cause he was doing great Redline pad repops too.

I'm onto another lead whcih may prove fruitfull - I'll let you know.

Mr. BMX makes a very valid point about locally made products ie. decals BITD.
Australia was a big market BITD - Oz made versions of stuff would have made sense.
That happened in the UK too - license deals to make stuff.
Hence the possible difference in colours etc.

In NZ we pretty much just stuff as it was, direct from Japan or the US - not big enough to justify locally made stuff.
There were lots of local knock-offs though.

Besides old school BMX, I also ride and collect old school GT MTBs. Here's my 2001 i-drive. I've changed the shock since this auction photo. A little off topic but . . . we were talking about GTs. Got some awesome carbon STSs also. All will be on my site.

Martin
AndyDiamond
Holy crap - Did you just say 'The Terminator' Arnold?
Mr.BMX
I'd luv to cut that frame down to 20"

BMX is number 1
