Beautiful Bike Martin.
Are you running both MX 900?, It looks like you need to swap the MX1000 from the front with the MX 900 in the back (Looks long in the front, and short in the back)... This is a minor detail, the bike is truly AWESOME!!!!

Thanks Juan.
The brake choice was intentional to make the bike look as close as possible to the black and white July 1981 Aero ad with RL and John Crews.
They are both MX1000s.

Yeah Kurt , my 4th one actually . I think I had the same problem as Craig , I did get a password reset from a mod but it didn't work . This was easier .
The Mustang was a rental and you know they are much more fun than any car you actually own , just ask Waz . Next ride for me is a 2010 Camaro ...

Ok Mick
you twisted my arm
Who would have thought that this pile of junk

What the hell, I thought - that might be a Proline frame - for $100 I could always pass it on to someone, and besides, there might be some neat spares in all that old junk!
Hit BIN
After a bit of wrangling organised to get the gear collected today
My mate who picked it up for me was as excited as I was and made the drive to Brisbane from near Gatton (about an hour and a half), he was afraid I might not sleep tonight after he told me what was in the box....
But first
Is this a Proline - the fella reckons it was bought in 83 - he said he put new stickers on it for his step son

It had some cranks and pedals on it

Some Bars in the box

oh
and I nearly forgot
this stem was rolling around in the box too

bunch of other stuff too that I'll clean up a little and take pics of
Not Bad for $100 really
I'm stoked !!!

It was complete speculation
At the front is also a fairly nice set of SR Cranks too
There is a Chair Hub and a Suzue flip flop
Another crazy thing is that the fella told me "it doesn't have the original forks on it, my brother crashed it"
Which made me think it wasn't a Proline
BUT
it has TX 500's on it - that suit the 5" steerer
What was the TT measurement on Proline ?
Those bars are stamped too!

Must be a Proline then - 19 1/2 Centre to centre
Better rip those rubbish cranks off it and put some single pinch on
Chrome is shot - so some Roberto magic is in order
With that TT length and those huge V Bars I reckon I've got myself another 20" rider when it's completed!!!
Better dig my Suntour hubs out of the vault

I've had this built for about three weeks, but I needed to make a few minor adjustments. It still isn't quite right, but other than getting better fitting foam for the pads, trimming the brake cable end, and capping it, and maybe (way in the future), getting a genuine JMC seatpost (I struggle with the concept of paying a small fortune for a tube of 4130 with a cap on it

). I may chase down some blue Shimano DX pedals for it, as I think they will look better. This is the first time I have put a layback seatpost on a 24. Even though it is a minimal layback (it is actually a trimmed GT seatpost), I'm not yet convinced. I may go back to a straight post.
I have to admit, when I built this, it just didn't make me fire on all cylinders. I have been wanting one of these for so long, and once I had finally got one, and got it built, it was kind of an anticlimax. Dont get me wrong, it rides beautifully, just like one would expect from a JMC cruiser. But I wasn't driven to post up photos, like I normally am. Kind of weird I guess.
This is it for me, for now. Other than a Patterson PR240 redux, which should happen in the next few weeks or so. I dont have the drive, or space anymore.
1982 JMC 24.

I have to thank my good friend Clint. Without him, I would never have ended up owning one of the nicest race 24's out there. JMC 24's to me are one of the nicest balanced 24's I have ever ridden.
Kurt.

Thanks

. Actually, I forgot to add, that the inspiration for the colour scheme for this, came from Martins white JMC Shadow that he has on his site. I kept going back and looking at that while this 24 was on its way, and even once I had it, I still kept looking at it, envisaging what the 24 would look like in white with a bit of red and blue.
I had an alternative scheme lined up, of white, with black and chrome. I'm pleased I went with the red/blue.

Man what a weekend. I still have a sore arse. The ride on Sat was huge fun. I had a ball and so did Tobes. I have some pics but I imagine Andrew has a million. I saw him with his camera all day taking pics.
The quality and quantity is absolutely massive now. We've come a long way us Aussies in 5 years. I know Roberto is still wondering how much bigger next years is going to be. 200 + bikes. All of them were 100% class. Well done boys.
I have to say a huge thanks to Roberto and his family and friends. You guys are so good at this. I look forward to this every year and you guys didn't disappoint .
Thanks.
Finally thanks to my wife and family for making the trip a great time. Even the keys locked in my car, thanks Tobes.

Oh and Mike the JMC is hot mate. Looks great. I really want an old school cruiser now. With a padded seat! LOL

Cracking way to spend a Sunday, my only disapointment was old mate didn't turn up with the Helium (from last year), cause I has a few serious $$$ in a envelope ready to entice him to part with it, but all in all the sheer number of bikes & oh my god the standard of builds, JUST BRILLIANT.
