Dunno Mick - not my sort of DB. Chainguard tab, Taiwanese made. Sparky would probably know though.

I doubt it is an '82, or a "Moto X" (?) - probably one of the early Taiwanese Vipers from '83 or '84 I reckon. Basically a Taiwanese Silver Streak.

small score on thursday.

drove past a house with a guy doing bike repairs and selling a few things out front. I stopped to ask if he had any old bmx stuff and after a chat, I left with this. Nice guy too.

Kurt.
Nice one!

Though where did all the rear hubs go around the world? Alien abduction is my theory.
broke L345
maybe in the back of someones couch with all the spare coins and pens.

I'm wrappped with the black shimano high flanges.
COASTY
Great score. I was told most kids destroyed the rear hubs and the replacements came in pairs so there was always a heap of fronts left over. I got a score from an old shop a few years back and all the hubs bar 2 were fronts.
Kurt.
Any of the Melbourne crew up for a few drinks and/or a meal on Friday the 23rd of April? (in 2 weeks time - Anzac Day long weekend).

I'm in Melbourne for work the couple of days before and am free on the Friday night.

Let me know fellas!

on the grass was a fizzer, weather was way out of control to set any bikes up. probably the shortest gathering of all time. we all left within 1/2 an hour.

Geez Martin, I don't know how you did it but DAMN!!! How many Nomuras do you have??
The main thing that blows me away is the amount of NOS frames and parts you have.
Awsome stuff mate. Good to see you here again too.

I have every response on this thread automatically emailed to my iPhone so I'm always in touch with what's going on. Just been super busy. I have alot of builds and shoots planned for this year. Hopefully it actually happens this time and work doesn't get in the way like it did last year.

Thats really cool Martin.. I gotta do a video... Just love it mate..

Hey Martin, tell me more about the red Nomura..
How many were made.. and still gettting around..?
Jarvi
That's great Martin. I looked to see if you had a big smile on your face when we could see your reflection because I would start smiling every time I walked in there.
www.martin-bike.com
My understanding is that there are 6 chromoly Nomuras known to exist. Here's a better shot:

The forks are last run Bottema B2s - people were squabbling on this site about whether these were legit but a batch was picked up by Greg Hannah and went through the Haneys. These are super rare and there is a 24" set on eBay right now if anybody is interested:

Bottema
JMCGT
LOL..yes i have that pic saved Martin a while back..way cool!!

24" diamond back on the bay now too.. Glenn rawsons..
JMCGT
what year is the chromoly mate
www.martin-bike.com
83 for sure but don't know if 82 and/or 84 is included. I don't think so.

My 26" Nomura is the lowest serial Nomura known to exist - 005. It was in the first batch of 12 ever made by Wade Nomura and that was in November 1980. The aluminium Nomuras with the thick down tubes were around in 81 and 82 so makes sense to me that the cromos were 83 only.
JMCGT
Juan says mine was welded in 1980.. ?? maybe sold in 81
I'm just happy i finally got one.. LOL..
Its my next build..
JMCGT
heres a pic..

going off the sticker placement.. it looks familiar to one off the museum on here.??
www.martin-bike.com
What's the serial on it? Should be under the BB. If the last 3 numbers are low, it could well have been welded in 1980.
JMCGT
Scott LaVance.. I think its look like his in the museum,..?

NRDG 259.. on the rear dropout
www.martin-bike.com
Can you post the link?
JMCGT

www.martin-bike.com
259 - not sure. Could have been 80, could have been 81.

I know November 1980 was the first batch of 12.
www.martin-bike.com
The guy who owned 005 previously on BMX Museum claims he got his info from emails with Wade Nomura directly. You may want to contact him to get his email address. Speaking with Wade directly should sort out any confusion.
JMCGT
heres Juan response..

Hi Bud, please find attached a few shots of the Nomura frame.

This one is in all original condition and is one of the very few known to exist without repairs of any kind; as far as I could research on this set, it was put together by Wade Nomura back in August 1980 and sold to Hank & Frank bicycle shop as a complete bike. This one, would be perfect for restoration since all the previous marks for use are manageable Along with this frame (Not shown in photos) you will receive the One and only example of a Nomura top tube pad recorded in existence , Also a couple of reproduction decal sets are included.

Best

Juan

Thanks mate.. i will..

That's compelling also but there must have been method in the numbering system. I'd try to track down Wade himself.

Drop me an email on martin@martin-bike.com and I can give you the email of the guy who says he spoke with Wade.

I know of the M1 and M2 fork but not the B2. How many versions were there? Anyone have a pic of the M2 fork?

Great bike room Martin-and yeah I did end up watching the Ricky Martin vid too
www.martin-bike.com
From what I was told, they were never released into the mass market.

M2 are the race versions. I have them on my Nomura:

So M1, M2(race), C1(cruiser) and the B2 versions. 4 versions all up?

That's what my research dug up but still working out the letter - it was either R2 or B2. When I find out I'll let you know. I'm trying to track down the source, Greg Hannah.

The M1 had a Skatepark version also. Different to the normal M1. Thats whats on my Supergoose.
