Glenn, Pete, Craig & myself headed down to Beenleigh track early today. Had a blast watching Glenn & Craig go on the halfpipe.
After that, Craig left to go home so we headed up to Brissy CBD for a pedal.
Went for a leisurely ride along the river bikepaths, then up thru the city, got told by 2 cops to "walk our bikes" thru the Mall (even though they riding their bikes!...LOL). :unknw_mini:
Then a BBC worker walking past told us it was a $175 fine for being in the Mall with our bikes (bit like that scene in BMX Bandits)....so we headed off to Suncorp Stadium & Paddo skatebowl.
Oh...we did stop at 2 pubs along the way to quench our thirst too. :drink_mini:
Was a great day! Great to finally go for a pedal with Glenn...been a long time mate.

Here you go Christian.
NOS 70's Dia Compe lever, from the days before pre-bents. Just need to get the right bend in it now to match DC's. Much meatier lever than the old Shimano Tourney.

kurt, I opened it upand put the flat bit in the gap between my wooden outdoor table slats with the lever pointing upwards then just grabbed the lever and bent it to the right angle. you can take your time but only bend in one direction if you over bend and go back the other way it will snap.

30 hours is a long time. I went without power for around 10 hours on Sunday. It was quite enjoyable though.

The trip down to the Tobago Cays was on the old mail run boat. We then snorkeled out on the reef (hadn't done that for 30+ years) and then a swim off the beach you can see. Was around 2-3 metres from turtles swimming around with me.
For Pirates of the Caribbean fans. the island in the background of the last photo is where some of the filming was done. I haven't seen the movie so can't tell you which parts it was in.

Those posts are super rare, but dam that's some serious coin! You wait till the next set of SST hubs go up for auction...last set I saw went for $3300!
Woody has an amazing collection and seems to be a super down to earth guy, considering his sucess in our sport.

Have never met or dealt with Woody, however, he seems like a class act and humble, despite his success and stature in the sport.

Thought you guys might like this - arrived today
MK II Quicksilver - VERY early serial for this model 918D (September, 81, 8th built)
OG chrome and decals
Single owner until I bought it - a lot of original parts came with it as well, good condtion Nitto Straight bars, Sugino Cranks, spider and chainring - and I have some others that are correct for this bike (MX-1 stem particularly)
Nice candidate for a survivor build I reckon - OA bath and a polish on the weekend and we're on our way!
I love it when a plan comes together...

Yeah that is a beauty. I wonder when the serial moved from the BB to the dropout? Another indicator of an early Mk2 I guess. So what is the story on how you scored that miinty baby Ben?

Kurt - I think the first MK II example of stamping on the dropout is #43 (my red bike)
The story - up late one night - a couple of beers and I thought to myself - I haven't searched for Quicksilver on eBay for a while...
It had been up around 15 minutes with a quite reasonable BIN - so I hit buy - took a bit of time to organise the pickup and ditch the new tuffs on the way but it is finally mine!
The fella I bought it off put brand new tuffs and holey rollers on it thinking someone would buy it for their kid to ride - he was really excited when I told him I was a collector and gave me all the details of it's original state - I told him I would get it as close as possible to what he told me...

Mick - wait until you see it up close - freakishly nice for a chrome quicky!
Did I mention it had straight Nitto Bars with it?
and one of those grey metallic tange seatpost clamps....
My Missus had her sister over tonight - and I showed the frame to her and she said "I like the way it's done with the end bits, I don't remember them all being like that"
Gotta love Quickie dropouts
