UPDATE ON PRIZES FOR THE FEB BMX SHOW AT YANDINA (SUNSHINE COAST)

I personally will throw in a set of yellow OGK tuffs which need a little TLC.

Today iI was pipped by Warren up here on the Coast, approached a bike shop & is getting a NEW set of Black Tuff II's.

I also have Porkchops (from USA) donating prises & Johnny Chopper (Gary) said he can help out there as well.

A full list of gear will be listed in January

To be in the running for these prises all you have to do is bring a full PRE 90"s BMX (in show or survivor condition) to put on show that day. You can bring other BMX's or just Frames but only the full bikes will get a ticket, eg John Citizen brings 5 BMX's but only 3 are pre 90, he will recieve 3 tickets. (EASY AS)

I can just see Coasty scrounin up a extra 10 bikes to win some more tuffs lol.
Jarvi
Great photos Danny. Why didn't anyone tell me about those jumps?

Cheers fellas (and lady!) yeah the polishing, as most of you would know, is a labourous time consuming job - but very rewarding! Gotta try to get my DX pedals to that level of finish now too! I'll have no fingerprints to speak of!
JMCGT
Gotta love the alloy's Brad.. Good one mate

But you missed the Lego Pirate, still looks painted..!! LOL
Mr.BMX
Greetings All,

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind people how easy it is to fall off your roof and harm yourself during these windy/wet days.
As recent storms have created roof/antenna damage, it seems logical to jump up there and fix things yourself.
Sadly on a wet roof, it's damn slippery and easy to come unstuck.

Please use some harnessing/ropes/anchor-point, to save yourself.

I'm sending out this notice to you all, as a work colleague of mine had died this morning as a result of severe brain damage from falling of his mothers shop-roof....
For someone that had been installing Audio/Video internal installations, and external antenna/cabling for 15-20 years, it still manages to happen to the best of them !!!

If i've helped just 1 of you save yourself, my work is done!
It's the kind of surprise NOBODY needs this Xmas.....

Story as follows......

Man wedged between walls after roof fall
November 26, 2009

AAP

A man was critically injured when he fell from the second-storey roof of his house and became wedged between two brick walls.

It's believed the 38-year-old man was adjusting the television antenna on the roof of his home in Union Road, Surrey Hills, when he fell and became wedged between the brick walls of his house and a neighbouring industrial premises shortly before 10pm (AEDT) on Wednesday.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman Gary Robertson said paramedics and firefighters worked for two hours to free the man.

"He was incredibly difficult to access. He was unconscious at the time. We used the help of the MFB (Metropolitan Fire Brigade) to break into a neighbouring factory and come through some windows to get to him," he told the Fairfax Radio Network.

"It was a very difficult extrication from the scene and we managed to get him out to the ambulance and treat him there.

The man was trapped for about two hours before he was freed.

He was taken to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition with serious head injuries and multiple fractures.

The man underwent surgery there overnight.

Marty.

Yeah I thought the pirate standing there looking at the camera was brilliant!

Hey Marty - thanks for that - nasty places roofs. I hate getting up on ours, old Federation place with a high and steep roof. Really sorry to hear about your mate.

LOL Sour grapes?

Sorry to hear about your mate Marty.
Safety on roofs is very serious and yet we still have ads on the telly with these roof resto companies with NO safety protection at all.
AdrianH
Sorry to hear about your friend Marty, condolences to his family.

Had an awesome day at the VIC state titles today, finally caught up with Phil Kaye and Tim Ward. Tim took out VIC1 and Phil VIC7 after flat landing the step up on the first straight, he thought he was Joe Cocker he got that high lol.

COASTY
Well done to Phil and Tim. Also to any other members here that won today.
bmxmom
awesome pics adrian. that's what it's about isn't it? bmx buds. right on.

marty - sorry about the loss of your colleague. i was so enchanted by the pirate and the his blingy booty that i totally missed your story. sad.gif
Jarvi
Adrian, how soft are you two when you look at what you are wearing compared to Mark's daughter in the background in the pink top? Seriously though, well done to all who raced and look forward to a full report when you all have a chance to recover and get home.
Volcano
Just got back from the Gold Coast ride...Awesome day!
We even got a groupshot of us all & two Metermaids...LOL (will see if I can get pics later)
Built up my Mongoose Californian & took it out for a spin.
Ran really well & a very comfy ride.

COASTY
Beautiful Goose Mick. Nice cruiser. Let's see the chicks!
I built a goose today too.
This is my original Goose frame. The first one I ever owned. Had it since 1980.
Seat and post will be changed very shortly.
Brisben
I rode with Mick today

But did it in comfort on a Kos - perfect for a beach cruise

I did put this together yesterday though - I only got it friday and had to throw some parts on it

September 77 Goose

(cranks and chainring will be changed soon)

Kurt.
Wow. 3 sweet rides there fellas. Love the alloy mags and MCS stem on the '77.
QuicksilverBMX
Very nice rides boys, look forward to seeing that goose finished Ben

Glenn what stem is on your goose?
Bradster
Good stuff fellas, but Mick, you can drop the 'Metermaids' line and not post a pic - unfair!! tongue.gif
COASTY
Reece, It's my old Redline Brute stem. I have a Gold stem but I've never really liked them on my bikes. ohmy.gif I tended to break a lot of stems bitd. I prefer block styles like Tuff, Pro Necks or my trusty MX-2/DX.
bennyg
Nice bikes above there guys.

Just thought I'd drop a note is anyone after a 1984 Harry Leary Turbo or a supergoose. Both are in good survivor condition & if you need pictures I can email them to you. I know I can place my statement in the forsale section of vbmx but I thought I'd give the ozi boys first dig.

If your interested email me at ben.gambrill@livingcare.org.au cheers

AdrianH
Nice rides boys, well done.

Mom, BMX buds is right. Met some guys I had only ever met online and some I had never met at all and caught up with some mates I hadnt seen in a while.

James, it was absolutely pouring down. Dobbos girl raced really well.

As a matter of fact the womens and girls racing was super competitive alot of fun to watch. There are some very good riders coming through the ranks atm. In the 5 sprockets one of the little fellas was manualling the triples and clearing the tabletops, amazing.

One moto in the 35-39 age group was called into the marshallung area after their moto and read the riot act lol, bit aggressive.

The hottest action was in the 40-44 men, 39 riders. Very competitive, the final was a stacked gate with a nice aggressive start by Dave Comport with a nice angle across the lanes when the gate dropped, lol, not appreciated by all Im sure. Tim Ward took out the final but the move of the day was by Phil Kaye who took the last step up on the first straight a bit fast and kept going straight up before flat landing on the turn washing off all his speed. It was a great sight and a real crowd pleaser.

Greg Hill should be very proud as both Tim and Phil are sponsered by him. So congrats to GHP for a great finish to the day with a VIC 1 and 7 plates.

In the 40-44 cruisers, Tim Ward 1st, Travor Stamford 2nd, Brett Barnes 3rd, Gary Morgan 4th and Dave Comport 5th, Brian Alexander 6th, P hil Kaye 7th, Craig Walzuck 8th.
troyboy66
Glenn, Mick & Ben
There's some nice gooses / geese right there.
Makes me think I might have to get my finger out & get my 80 goose down to Roberto & see if I can get it ready for February, I know Glenn will bring a heap lol.
Jarvi
Redline Brute stems are the best stem ever. Good choice Glenn.

I leave Venice later this week so here's a few photos which will be the last ones from here. first up is the new (about 1-2 months old) skatepark built where the old Venice Pavillions used to be. Took 20 years to get this park built in the home of skateboarding. Pure madness that is took that long and so much lobbying. It's the perfect area for one, has a mix of bowls, runs and street. Unfortunately no bikes allowed, then again it might be disrespectful in an area with so much skate history.

Walking along Sunset I saw this in the distance and as I'm always on the lookout for lines to ride (even though I didn't have my bikes) I thought it looked perfect. Get closer and see all the tyre marks and realise I'm not the only person to think about riding the wall. I'm not sure, however, I think this spot has been featured in a couple of BMX DVDs. Fit Life, Summer of Fit, Volume - On The Clock, Enties Grounded. At least one of those and possibly two of them.

Finally, can you believe some jerk put his foot in the way just as I took the photo then refused to move it so I could get a proper photo. Seriously, the star is for John Hart who died at age 91 back on 20 September 2009. One of his well known roles was as the Lone Ranger on television for a couple of years.

QuicksilverBMX

Hey Adam,

I have some laserlite bars, but they need a re-chrome. I guess you're looking for a show pair
ACGTO
Reece, I'll take anything. Rechroming is no issue. Shot you an email.

just under a year, that is a long time!
Bradster
SE pads = way cool!
84profile
Wow Adam, that Laserlight looks a treat...have to say I'm a big fan of high flange hubs, be it cheap or expensive...ie Suzue or Son Lite!

James four words, "you are killing me" ... looks like you are having a ball...keep the photos coming!!

What's the story with the pads Matty? OG's or repro's? They look awesome!
Jarvi
Think you need a chain too, Adam. Agree with Stu that high flange hubs look the best.

Must be an SE things as the authorised PK Ripper stickers are still in the works (I think), some four years after the big crackdown on repros.

All right, a couple more from today's ride. If you asked me what sums up LA streets I would describe this photo. Reason probably dates back to watching Beverly Hills Cop when Axel Foley hits town and drives the streets. This was taken in north Santa Monica.

I then rode around the streets just north of Sunset in Pacific Palisades, which if you know it, is a tad hilly. Should have picked a clearer day to do it because the views would be spectacular. Spotted this place whilst riding along Sunset (that's it below) just west of Will Rogers State Park. I nearly went back to get a photo from below, however, parts of Sunset are not bike friendly and didn't wish to push my luck.

ACGTO
James. I have one question for you.

If you've got both hands on the bars and feet on the pedals what the hell are you taking photo's with? You a bit of a clever dick hey?
Jarvi
Yeah I'm a clever dick, however, I don't have my right hand on the bars. Really need to put an RSABOUT sticker on the crossbar and yes, the crooked FlyBikes sticker does annoy me.
JMCGT
Yes OG Stu..
I bought them off a very big SE collector
