Kurt.
Sweet set up Matt!

Hey what's going on - all those topless beach bunnies just around the corner and you are there at the pool playing with your bar???
ACGTO
Good to see you're still doing it tough and hating life Matt. Get your ar$e back down here. I'm bored.
Jarvi
I have to agree because for me it's good to hear what people are up to back home as well. Plus I don't have anything other than on the road photos although this time I don't think Matt and I will pass each other near Bundy as we did last time. Topless isn't a popular concept over here and the count is only one. Would see that in the first hundred metres at Mooloolaba. Think I need to get to Europe pronto.

Here I am contemplating the meaning of life... I'll hopefully get more BMX related posts once I hit LA next month.

Good on you James , thanks for the reports and cheers to all who stay in touch here . Matty , you are traveling first class there , top set up . Roberto , auto perfecto .
JMCGT
Not long Adam, should be Xmas..
Just went down to the lagoon pool, no topless there either.. besides me..
COASTY
Nice pic James. Nice lookin spot.
The only topless things here are backpackers! Some not so good.
I like cars too. I spent 7 years as a moderator on Calaisturbo.com to show for it.
Wait 'til you see the Dodge ute and XB Coupes (x2) we're buiilding at work!
broke L345
good to see you're livin' the dream James! I do need my riding buddy back though.

matt, thanks for the pics, soon I'll be able to send some pics of my pool (OK maybe soon)

Personally I like seeing what people here are upto, cars, hollidays etc and now that we don't see Kosy around here I even like to see peoples "half builds" tongue.gif

Mark I entered the interclub challenge but doesn't look like I can do it and I was gonna ride the states but unless I get to your track and have a ride, that's not gonna happen either. We'll see.
Jarvi
Speaking of cars, forgot to mention one I saw last week. BMX X5 with black tinted windows, black wheels and pretty much black everything. The thing was, the body was flat black. Or maybe MattBlack is over here and it was his new wheels.

A mate had one with the same paint, it just looked a bit more appropriate on an HZ Holden wagon.
Kurt.
Yeah the whole murdered-out look is pretty big now - a few years behind the BMX trend!

Check out the Harley Nightster or even better, Iron 883 some time. Black is Beautiful.
Hutchy
I know I am a little late with this, but I only caught up with this thread after a couple of weeks. I apologise for reviving a car topic in here!

Roberto, that car is spectacular! An absolute childhood dream alright! I still watch the movies on DVD from time to time with the kids. Does it need any restoration work? It looks pretty clean. I just showed it to my son, and he was thinking it was "the" car from the movie. It started me wondering if it was still in existence somewhere.....

Matt, are you a little confused about which direction to drive in when you get in the car with all that gear? Glad to see you are on the way. I have almost sold the Hutch 5 times over!

James. You are doing what I would love to be doing. That is about all I am going to say about that..... I know, jealousy is a curse! I hope your having fun!
JMCGT
Hutch!! Sshh, the wifey is listening
Hutchy
Did I type Matt? What a fool. I meant Mick..... rolleyes.gif

I don't ever go out of my way to try and make a fool of someone. It's not how I am wired. But with this guy, I just couldn't help it. He was the only reason I started this thread..... popcorm1.gif

I found something in our workshop for you Hutchy. Came in Yesterday.
Hutchy
LOL I was wondering when I was going to see that pop up! My wife actually looked for it on the personalised plates web site to see if it was taken. I thought there was no chance of it being available, as it's a reasonably popular nick name for all those Hutchins/Hutchinson people out there.

Can you tell him I'll swap him a pre-serial Pro Racer with fresh powder and decals for the plates?
COASTY
I'll rip them off myself! Just send me the frame and I'll sort it. LOL
ROBERTO
Matt: Awsome Bmx setup for the Witt Sundays camp. Dig the VY SS mags on the trailer.

James: Were you pondering the meaning of life or just pondering a story line for your autobiography? Looks like fun.

Hutchy: The car is in excellent condition aesthetically and mechanically, 15000 original miles, I'm the 3rd owner, just needs new rubbers and time circuits, might be ready for the next gathering.

The next BMX show N shine will be open to 80's Bmx, Dragsters, Roadbikes, Skate boards and Delorians, we dont discriminate.

Awesome gear bag Matt. Really can't believe that blue/yellow vinyl Patty frame pad went so cheap the other day.

What's the story on that 3 bolt stem?
JMCGT
They are made by Galindo and are similar to the ESP stems..I have a raw polished one too
They have a bolt up from the base that hold the bars too..

I was going to bid on that Patterson pad from Aus but didnt have anything to use it for.. looked very nice and cheap..

Hey guys, here's a link to some pics of the last round of the Retro Race Series (Qld) held tthis arvo.

Mr.BMX
Hi all, been a while for me....

Anyhoo, just thought i'd share some trivia.....

Today (Sun, Oct 25th) is EXACTLY 28 years since i first started racing......
I'm going to apply to local council to have a public holiday created. laugh.gif

Here's my first race at Lalor (Melbourne)....winning in my 14 Novice moto.
Skyway jersey is a screenprinted windcheater i made in Art Class at Tech school.
Bike is a Mongoose motomag frame with Team forks, Tuff 2's and fairly basic stuff back then...

Enjoy!
Marty.
COASTY
Cool pic Marty, well done too.
Kurt.
Nice pic Marty. Cool windcheater too - still have it?

Looks like a decent size meeting....even the old school "patra" sign evoke memories...I remember loving Razz icy block pramids and Orange Sunnyboys back in that era!
Jarvi
Nice Marty. I have no idea when I started or finished racing.

Finally Macgyvered the bike together because I broke a barrel adjuster and had to wait to get another one and it is much shorter. Anyway, just good to be out and was bunnyhopping up kerbs within minutes and it felt great. Here's a few photos and whilst I didn't intend to head out to Sand Island to see the track I sort of ended up that way and just kept going. All up about 28km over four hours. The video of the track is rough because I was riding one handed and sitting down. It's a great track and jumps are a good size without being silly. Third straight has about 13 jumps to the rhythm section and they seem to flow well. The last straight has a couple of lippy table tops which is fine because tables are more forgiving. The berms are STEEP.

Oh, look what I found. Actually Hawaii is a good place to live if you like a drink early in the morning because the sportsbars open. This place was going off at it was 10am Sunday morning and I assume they were watching football or baseball live from the mainland.

Based on the above photo, anyone feel like a tug?

I can't seem to work out how to embed video so here's the link to the ride around the track.

http://www.vimeo.com/7256540

I also found the video I thought I'd lost from the walk up Koko Crater last week if anyone is interested.

Nah, i think i threw it out with a checkered windcheater i also made back in the day...
Pity, i would love to still have them nowadays, oh well....

Hopefully i surprise myself and find it buried in a closet or something, here's hoping.

COASTY
Great vids James. The crater vid is beautiful! Great views. I like the way they built in the hills and in the Valleys.
That track has huge berms too. Looks like a cool track.

That's a cool photo. i love the old photo's. Could you imagine a company making a slogan like the one in the background for "Patra" these days? LOL The big fresh one?

I love this thread

Old stuff, new stuff, what people are up to, touching base, catching up

Wish I had something more exciting to say than I raced the Retro series yesterday on the Mongoose Two Four and didn't come last twice out of three motos biggrin.gif and had an absolutely fantastic time.

I'm working on a team sponsorship deal for the next retro series and will be sorting out the details in the off season, pouring over the contracts, you know how it is at the pointy end of the sport! sarcastic_hand.gif

ps Jarvi opportunities still exist for secondary and even tertiary sponsors so get in quick (or can I put Rsabout stickers on my number plate and just pretend)

Awesome pics Marty!
