My latest buy..
another set of Profile and Galindo bars

Matt,

How wide are the galindos?
They look very similar in width to the Stu bars under them?
I thought they may have been a bit wider.....
Nice score by the way............

Kurt.
Great looking bars Matt - what's the crossbar on the Galindo's made of? Aluminium or nylon?
Volcano
Im thinking this will be my next build... DB Senior Pro biggrin.gif

One question...does anyone know if there's a good chromer in Brisbane?

Jarvi
Mick, have a word with Serva. I think he knows one up his way if you don't have any luck locally.
Kurt.
Looking good Mick. That will come up great. I love an '81 Senior Pro.

The re-annoed stuff came up really well. But sand those DB crank faces!
JMCGT
Nylon i guess Kurt.. they are not alloy, not these ones anyway

OMG that Kuwa is sweet as a nut.

hey Kurt that photo of the Stickered gusset D.B was taken at Metro west track in Sydney in 1980.
The guy on the looptail quad is Jim O'Neil who went on to ride for the factory D.B team and do the stunt riding in BMX Bandits.
The two other kids are his younger brothers Tim and Sean, those bikes would of come from Europa Cycles in Sydney who where the original D.B importers into Australia.
A friend of mine worked there in late 1979 and had a pro size frame with the same gusset.

Post that baby as much as you like Mark!

Geeezus, where did you find another set of Profiles? Dude, have I told you how rare they are? Awesome!

Oh Mick that DB looks hot, can't wait to see it...you are picking up where Lewis left off (Lew from Tassie)
AdrianH
I love that DB Pro, I just picked up one from Tassie for 200 bucks that I cant wait to do up, and Mick yours is gonna look awesome.

Dunno? They are unmarked. They are the grips that came on the bike from new though. Kurt will know what they are? Maybe a wang chung Oakley knock off? I think they were assembled by shops, so they probably just spec'd something cheap that matched.
Jarvi
Grips could be Fuan as they did Oakley copies. Hard as hell. I used to run a black/grey pair because I was a cheapskate and they lasted for ages. Also used the hard Mongosse ones on my Mongoose. Still have the calluses as proof.

Yep, they are bloody hard grips

Funny this topic comes up, as I was discussing Oakley grips in another thread. The DB Turbo I just acquired has Oakley F1's, apparently they were made without the Oakley logo in the very early stages of production...they are as soft as soft, like marshmellow!! I think that is the best way of telling the fakes as they feel to made from plastic!

Two JMC's both Standard Shorts, different BB, one Euro and one American, 7 mths seperate them...

Why the different BB's?

Over to you gurus............

Oh and a quick snap of the two diff forks..........need a timeline.......lol

What a cracking name for a BMX shop..........I love it!

Hutchy
I would love a JMC in my shed! And you have two! Damn nice bikes. I do like the super thin fork blades, but I thought they came on the Black shadows, rather than the Standards. But then again, I am no expert on JMC's. Where's Matt when you need him!

Mick, you are flyin along with your builds mate! Well done on the DB!

Stu, I know you love the DB Turbo, but stop chowing down on the grips mate! LOL I had a couple of pairs of those grips BITD, and they lasted about 2 weeks! Very grippy while they lasted! It's awesome that you still have the originals on that bike! That's a great find! wink.gif

I've always wondered why the option for a "euro" bottom bracket was offered

I have two Robinsons of the same age and one is Euro and the other American

My CBR is Euro as well

Anyone got any hints

(nice bikes Ben BTW)

Which forks go with which frame ?

Gotta love Mr Meltons attention to detail in regard to the history of his frames

Maybe caferacer can shed some light here....

Ben,

The solid dropouts on the forks are the correct forks with the Standard (I think......Matt where are you?) bit i love the full bladed JMC fork, just waiting on the correct Frame to stick its head up...lol

I understand mate. If the second one were a Long frame I am sure you would have kept it! I would also like to know if the forks that came with the Long frame were ever oval in tube profile, or were they round for strength?

When oval are you refering to the bladed fork, like these?

Not the best shot but you get the idea..

Mmmm Yes! They are beautiful forks. I am JMC illiterate except for the Black Shadow, which I pined for as a youngster. Does anyone know the full range of early 80's JMC's and a timeline? I never trust what people say their bikes are on the Museum. rolleyes.gif

I am not quite sure, where is Matt when you need him....MAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT you about!!!!!!!!!!

Ben
Kurt.
Yeah Damon or Matt are your men on the JMC forks.

On the bottom bracket options, this is my take: A lot of the manufacturers back then gave you a choice of BB. Euro BB and 3 piece alloy cranks gave you a significant weight saving. But one piece cranks were a must for the pros and bigger guys until the introduction of Flights (alloy cranks broke like cheese), so the US BB option was essential.

Nice Ben..
Not quite sure , Damon will know.. And if he doesn't, there not JMC...LOL..

The blade forks came on a few bikes and as for the euro b/b, probably a choice thing.. if you had a youngster
with pre 170mm cranks then you would buy a euro set up..?? but just a stab..
This is something that Damon is Brilliant at !!

I do love a JMC, they are beautifully made, and I remember 1 from back in the day, it was Black Shadow (Stephen Cranes of Hutchy benefit) and it was totally deck out...bullseye hubs etc...I would love one if I had some more space and $$$....

This guy would have to be the most prolific JMC collector ever, check it out!

Mental JMC collection!
Kurt.
I love that collection and have admired it many times. For me JMC and Cook are the top of the BMX tree as far as workmanship.

JMC's from the start in 1977 where allways offered with a euro or american bottom bracket on long or standard frames and black shadow's, early mini's and 3.1xl where only offered with euro bottom brackets.
Those JMC forks would problerly be normal full size forks, D.Y forks are almost straight when laid flat from the legs to the stear tube.
Info not disscovered on the internet, ah the good old days !

The tear drop tubed forks where used up till late 1983.
