Don't talk too quick Damon
I'm just about to repop the frames and forks - I found a heap of old mild steel tube and I'm planning on welding them left handed after a couple of beers, then Mick and I are going to rattlecan them canary yellow.
I've taken a photo of the badge on the head tube and I'm going to print it on that sticker paper you can get from officeworks. Mick wanted to re-draw it but it looked just fine in the photo and I just bought a new set of scissors so I think I can cut them out really neatly.
What do you reckon?
Should just forget the bumblebee thing?

Back from the metropolis of Bundy and you will never guess what. I saw a Bumblebee up there but didn't know what it was. It's on the corner of the road second left after the...
Was a good ride Glenn. Longer than I though however it's always great fun to get out and cruiser the street. Just annoyed my wrist was stuffed although it's getting better now.

GTs and GHPs also had the (kind-of) milled head tube.
Kurt.
Jul 12 2009, 06:26 PM
Cool Andy - I didn't realise GHPs had them - must have been on later GTs? Looks like the GHP ones are pressed in rather than milled down though???
AndyDiamond
Jul 12 2009, 09:22 PM
yes pressed I'd say.
GT's had virtually the same thing as the GHPs from 1984.
Kurt.

Very nice Kurt. I had a mate with one of those. Scary fast for the time. Still are!
Kurt.
Jul 13 2009, 04:12 AM
Yeah - I used to have an '84 750 with the pop up headlight - but always wanted my mate's early 1100. More than fast enough for me, even if some modern 600's go faster!
PS: 3000 posts. That snuck up!

Motorbikes scare me - especially ones that need twin discs on the front to stop them
Be careful mate!
I suppose there are some nice roads in Tassie you could really ride on though...
on another topic
I don't suppose anyone has any NOS MKS Grafight pedals (circa 1984) they want to swap or sell, I have a very cunning plan for a build (any other circa 1984 pedals in black will also be considered)

Ben
I have a pair of MKS Graphites in 1/2" close to NOS. I'll contact you when I get back to Perth. I am currently on a borrowed laptop with wireless internet and i'm 300 k's south of Perth. I am not sure how much access I will have to the internet while i'm away.

Jul 13 2009, 06:11 AM
That's a tough challenge Ben! Could end up expensive too! MKS are rare in NOS condition, especially in 9/16, if that's what you are after.
You can't clearly see them in my Hutch photo on my profile, but I used to love MKS graphite pedals!

Jul 13 2009, 06:30 AM
Thanks Reece - we'll chat when you get back from the bush - exactly what I am looking for
John - I'm building the bike from your profile next - so the 9/16 can wait for a little while !
Phew - that was quick!

Hats off to Adam (ACGTO). We did a deal, where I finally ended up with a pair of GT Aero leathers, and a GT jersey. These will compliment my GT Echo full face helmet, and A'me/GT goggles, and make a great display piece to go with the GT's.
Thanks Adam, for helping complete another piece of my GT obsession!
I'll take some photos in the next few days

Thanks Mick and Kurt. The stem is being repaired as we speak (type) lol, it had some very deep hammer marks in the top of all places so a mate of mine Tim over at VOS is machining them out then its good to go after that.
Mike, got to see pics of all that get up mate, it would look awesome. Are you gonna model it for us?

HI Guys
Just let you know the Knox 5th annual gathering is on 7th Nov at Knox BMX track
mcam
Jul 15 2009, 04:23 AM
Er, I'll pass on modelling these leathers and jersey. Well, I might squeeze into the leathers, although they might not (well, definitely) wouldn't do up at the belt. The jersey, well, it is more for a child... But it fits the bill for display

Thanks to Adam, I now have the pieces to match the helmet. All I need now is some blue and yellow JT half breed gloves, and a pair of blue and yellow Vans, and it is complete

Ugh, lucky you! I would so like to have the larger size top to match the leathers. However, considering how long it took for me to find them, I should be grateful for that!
I really like those early GT jerseys. Where did you find those?
