yeah well said Ben,

trully an assett to the bmx comunity, hope you had a good one mate.

here's a story, BITD my brother and I raced Torkers. A family friend organized with Torker USA to get factory gear, bikes etc. I rode a chrome and blue one and my brother rode a black and gold "long". to cut a long story short, when we stopped racing my bikes were taken back but some how he managed to keep his. A few years down the track I started riding his bike and started swapping it out, it went from a torker to a Hutch, quadangle. then a Rhino which happened to be bent. don't know what I did with that. Anyway, I ended up swapping it till I had nothing. It also had phil woods and profile cranks etc. In 2005 I built him a redline MXII as a way of giving him something back. Recently I came across a long frame so I had it powdered and am giving it to him to hang up or hug for as long as he likes. here's the FF

Kurt.
That's beautiful Christian! Out of interest, how long is the T/T on those Long frames?
broke L345
standard length is 18.1/4 inches long is 19.1/4.

Thanks Kurt
COASTY
Wow That is beautiful! Nice job. I always wanted one of those too.

Volcano
Awesome Torker Christian! Looks great in black.
COASTY
Pete! How are ya mate. Long time no see.
broke L345
Thanks guys, powder was done locally 3 day turn around blasted and powdered $80.00. Nice job.

Longs are a hard one to find, serial number ends in 0.
Kurt.
Were the Longs available in cro-mo and regular steel like the smaller Torkers Christian?

How did you find it?
AdrianH
Where abouts did you get that powdered Christian? Did the powder go to thick and cover the Ser #? Are they good enough to send a potential carpet queen to?

Nice frame too and such an honourable intention for it.

Cheers Adrian
broke L345
I've only seen them in chro mo, it was on ebay. I alsays ask for the serial and where it isif it has LM at the end it's a mild steel frame. There are way too many that are just being stickerd up with the 4130 decal so I check. serial #s on the bottom brackett are pre 1980 I was talking to michael (PlanetX) about my brother having a long back in the day, he couldn't find any proof of them existing. he then found a frame with an out of characteristic "0" at the end and had it measured, it was a long. Then shortly after that this one came up when she told me it had a "0" at the end I had to grab it and sure enough it's 19 1/4 TT.

got it powdered at kev's sand blasting and powder coating it's under abrassive blasting in the yellow pages, he's in Glendale st Hastings. and I would reccomend him. the serial was light with the OG paint I can still read it. no orange peel etc.

he's building it up to ride can't wait to see it, he's also having a knee operation on thurs, hope he's up and riding again soon.I also hope he puts up a pic.

Kurt.
That's cool info. Seems id'ing the Torkers can be tricky - but your info is making it easier. So is the long the same frame as the "Torkflyte"?
mcam
Christian,

Your passion and knowledge of Torkers is pretty cool. To me, Torkers ooze early to mid 80's BMX. There was a local kid here who was fast, and started serious racing on a Torker. I remember his parents buying him the frameset, and ending up getting him the Torker shirt and Max leathers. He looked really cool. He ended up outgrowing the Torker and getting one of the few true Hutch Pro Stars, but I always remember the Torker. Cool times.

That black frameset looks killer. There is something really cool about the Torker twin top tube design.

I only ever knew one guy with a Torker BITD - so exotic compared to the stuff you saw around most of the time. Always had a thing for them since. Nice to see a guy like Christian so into them too.
broke L345
hey Kurt, I believe the difference between the Torkfyte and the Maxflyte was the parts package.

Mcam, there is alot more to my torker story, we were poor and used to hire the green madisons at the Macleod YMCA track. Then the friend of the family chose to start an Australian Torker team with permission from the factory. The first race I had my parents put up a big banner and the kids at the track were giving us alot of stick. it was at the Northland track night meet. first moto we killed them from the start a kid called scott boughton 1st and me seccond I came through the finnish brakes didn't work, I piled into the cyclone fencing and bent my DX spyder on a pole. end of meet, Dx cranks were brand new at that stage and we didn't have a replacement. I was never good enough to hold a state plate then, but I always loved my first bike.

I also used to stand on the twin bars hands out to the side and go down a street called Burgundy street I see that hill now and am amazed I survived.........idiot.
COASTY
lol great story Christian. I only knew of one kid with a Torker. I posted the pic earlier but you know the skatepark shot.
I hoped to build one when I got back into it. I got duped by a well known qld collector and never knew any better. I should of researched it better. I still want one though.

Duped by a well known QLD collector? Really? Is it a member on here?

I really like Torker cruisers. About two years ago, I got offered a 1982 Torker 24. I came so close to buying it. I wish I had smile.gif

Ooooh...I need that stem too wink.gif ....rock, paper, scissors Kurt?

LOL Mick. Check my signature!

Haven't had a chance to dig through my spares box for the stem you called about the other day - got some the same, just not in gold. I'll check in the morning.

Haha...I completely missed that ...oops, sorry mate. Industrial blindness...LOL

Wow Christian, Burgundy Street is STEEP. That would have taken a bit of guts or just stupidity to do that.
broke L345
you think that is stupid, I used to do it down Stradbroke ave too. thats the one that ends at the bowling green on burgundy ohmy.gif . it was my signature trick. when I get my rims anno'd from Waz I'll put this Torker back together and see if I can do it again. I figure I've broken my back once, what are the chances of doing it again tongue.gif

Playing with fire Christian!...hehe tongue.gif

Well remember my ET frame/forks that Roberto did?

So I send it to that local "air brusher" who used a spray can and gave it back in nasty shape

So I give it to a mate who says he knows a good reliable painter that does nice work. He has the frame for approx. 4 weeks and My mate goes round to see how its going and the guy abuses him and tells him to get f**ked (they'd only had a beer 2 days earlier as I understand it) anyway, he wasnt going to give the frame up so my mate had to call in a favour with his boss who knows the guys father well. Anyway, I finally get my frame back (its been soda/sand blasted) and its going back to Robertos for a second go and he's going to have a shot at doing the white as well!

I hope this build is worth it, its been frustrating to say the least!!!!!!
Sumo178
Quicksilver you could send it here to melbourne and get Noel to do it if he is will to. He painted my Phaze 1 and GJS had it done in 3 days and is a stunning job on both. He has the Et red colour made up as he has one which he has painted.

He runs one of the top Auto paint shops in Melbourne working on Porshe's, Merc's Range's etc. I can give him a call and tee it up and get a cost if you want. He is also on this forum but can't remember his profile name.

Noel if you see this chime in.
Sumo178
here are some pics of the paint. The GJS was based on ET red but darkened a touch to match the GJS's original colour.

Jake is right Reece, Noels work is very good, Ive seen his ET and its awesome. Im gonna be sending my ET to him to do.
QuicksilverBMX
Thanks guys, but I'm going to get Roberto to do it. The first time he did it was 100% perfect. It was the local yokels over here that stuffed it up.
Kurt.
That sucks Reece - will make it all the more satisfying when it's done I guess. Good luck with it. Roberto is the master!

Just out of interest guys - how many Mongoose Two Fours are around in Australia these days - apart from mine and (probably a couple) of Waza's

Kos Kruisers seem to be popping up everywhere at the moment - but you don't see to many Two Fours

Volcano
Hmm...no Two/Four at my house Ben...but the KOS is taking shape in the living room tonight!
Man...I forgot how big they were compared to a 20 inch sarcastic.gif

Jake - That GJS looks awesome!

Glenn - I replied to your email mate...thanks heaps!!!
Kurt.
Wait till you ride it then Mick. They are bloody ginormous!
waza007
todays laugh....... yep im the seller........

Buyer -
Leaves seller feedback.... "Item just as described. Fast post. Very happy with service A++++++"

Buyer -
Can you please leave feedback for me, otherwise I will be forced to edit my previous excellent feedback I left for you. I sent you a reminder last week. I will leave it another week, then I will be left with no choice but to act as described above

seller -
Mate, Do what you must. I will leave feedback when and IF i feel like it. It is NOT a requirement of ebay that i leave you must leave feedback.

buyer -
e-bay is a place to buy and sell? Yes?
Part of this process is a good will gesture called feedback. Feedback is used by other potential buyers to see the e-bay history of the seller/buyer. Ideally 100% is perfect. I know some sellers that do not accept bidders with 25 or less feedback (I want to get above 25). If people know that certain others do not leave feedback, especially when they did their part efficiently, then certain buyers may not put that bid in. The time you spent writing the last e-mail to me could have been spent actually doing the feedback entry. Need I say more. IT IS ALL GOOD WILL AND CO-OPERATION BETWEEN FELLOW E-BAYERS. It is a shame to see your impeccable feedback tarnished by such a small thing as not being a team player in this community. Do what you think is best, but if you are not going to spend the 1 minute filling the feedback section, then don't bother spending the 2-3 minutes replying to me saying "it is NOT a requirement"

seller -
Dont give me the crap about the ebay community, cos im a bigger part of it and a power user. All you wanted, was to get your feedback score over 25. Fair enought too! But all you needed to do is ask, NOT threaten people with bad feedback for your persoanl gain. I DO leave all people feedback, but considering how many tranactions i have to do, i do it once a month! Next time just tell the truth, not talk crap and especially dont threaten someone. Even better, dont use your employers email address to do it from. I wonder what they will think of that????
Kurt.
LOL Waza. Someone with their panties in a knot! A perfect transaction obviously because of his intial feedback - but then threatening to alter it because he didn't get feedback in the timeframe he wanted? W T F?

I always leave feedback, but to be honest, find a lot of sellers don't bother at all.
COASTY
LOL Theres always one. Actually I have a few sellers that haven't left feedback. I'm sure as heck not gonna lose sleep over it!
All done Mick. Hope they are ok.
Volcano
Thanks heaps Glenn good2.gif
