Man Piker, that is nice!!! Can you tell me if that was an Australian delivered bike, ie it was bought in Australia BITD? I have a strange feeling it might have just been Australian delivered bike that came "Senior Pro" decaled? Just a hunch though...
Ta. It was bought new in Sydney (not sure which shop) by a mate of mine BITD.

Beautiful Piker. That has come along really well.
You sure she never had the decals on the chainstays? They always leave a subtle mark on the chrome from where they sat, unless they were pulled straight off from new.
Thanks Kurt, my mate swears it never had decals on the stays. No sign of any on the chrome either...It also had no fork decals, again no signs on the chrome, hence the repops on there now. I guess i should put the 'Chromoly' decals on too....My mate may have just forgotten about removing them BITD.

Yeah, I've seen the blue one's and I'm thinking about em for the KZ-1 because, I ain't ever going to the IRC's....but beware Biago (aka Vert-ego.com) ain't scare of hitting you up for some serious postage...don't expect any postage change out of like 60GBP....nice tires though...
Thanks guys, i'll check them out. I lied, i have seen a pair on eBay, but the price killed it for me....
Kurt.
Feb 21 2009, 02:36 PM
Yeah - I forgot about mine too, till Lew pointed out sticker marks in the chrome one time. Then I had flashbacks of carrying it home on the bus when new, bugged by the lifting chromoly stickers! It's funny how this whole BMX nostalgia trip thing brings back long forgotten feelings and memories huh?

Feb 21 2009, 02:43 PM
Yes and how much was the bus ticket Kurt? Probably about 20 cents or something like that.
Kurt.
Feb 21 2009, 02:49 PM
Yeah - about 20c for the bus from Kings Meadows into York St. Then the same again for the bus from Allgoods up to Trevallyn. All the while hugging a shiny new DB frame. My favourite bus trip!
I remember the frame was $150 even.

Let's hope it can be saved.

How could someone think that was an acceptable job on top of such awesome powder. What a nutsack.Feel for you mate.
Danny - don't think so - have checked through my local dealer and they can't find them. Not helped by the fact Cheng Shin (or CST as the shops would know them) have several tyres with a code of C-183. I'd love a couple of sets of those too.

That sucks Reece. Hopefully you can get the result you want without starting again.
Danny, we grabbed some from www.burkescycles.co.nz in NZ. Reasonable freight costs. Paul (can't remember his screen name here) put Mark and I onto them. One more thing - don't get excited about the skinwall Comp IIIs on the site as they are actually blackwalls. Assuming they are still there.

Burkes Cycles used to be a or player in old school BMX BITD.
They had a shop team and sold all the top stuff.
I rang them a few years back to see if they had any old school stuff left but as usual they said they had turfed it all out.
Not quite as bad as another local distributor who threw a NOS Phase 1 frame out in the trash a few years back....

Hey Reece, hang in there mate.
I know something like that can be a real smack in the mouth. I hate that feeling of waiting for the moment you pick up your perfect frame and some f wit has done a pre school job on it. what a f head!!!! sorry mate, I feel your pain.
Kicks, I'm after a couple of sets of those and spoke to Mark but he hasn't gotten backto me yet. I'll keep in touch, or let me know how you go.
Thanks.

Feb 22 2009, 03:27 AM
Man I feel your hurt with that - I could have done better with a rattlecan - and I would have used decent paint (Belton, Montana, Krylon - hell even rust oleum) luckily it doesn't look like there is too much clear (if any)over the top
Check with Roberto first so you don't damage the powder, but I'm with Kurt on the acetone option, if the white is baked after spray that might be a different story all together

Hes a privateer of sorts. I'm found him through a recommendation, i'd love to see his previous work. The only thing I think that he'd excell at is graffitti.
I'll speak to Roberto tomorrow and see what his thoughts/veiws are but I have a couple of options. If worst comes to absolute worst, it'll be heading back over to QLD for another birthday

Any of you guys restored Z-rims before?
I have a red pair that need some light restoration. I don't want to dye them, but was wondering about the best way to remove the oxidisation on the surface. I was thinking 0000 grade steel wool (antique furniture restoration grade stuff) and a WD40 bath.
I don't have a fine sandblasting cabinet like the W man.
Any thoughts or experiences?

If the Amazon tyres are being sold by Niagara Cycle Works then I don't believe they will ship outside Us/Canada and territories. There's a few third party seller on Amazon that don't ship internationally which is annoying when you think you are about to get a bargain.

I'm trying to remember the name of this really fast kid that was only on the scene for a year or so and then disappeared. The kids first name has Brock (last name = Katidnack????) and he raced a banana yellow Jag in and around Brisbane in the very early '80's. He must have been 13 or 14 in 1980. I remember being between him and Matthew Weeks in a semi down at the gold/tweed coast (forget which track). I remember thinking that I had timed the gate beautifully only to realize that both those guys were a bike length ahead of me by the second pedal. Don't remember if he beat Weeks in that Semi and I do remember Weeks and Shawn Bell going 1, 2 in the final but the kid was fast. Seems like he gave Gary Windmill a run for his money once or twice. Anyone remember this kid or know his last name?

OK, so now as I am thinking about the old days I was reminded of the best race I ever saw. It was the Qld titles in Bundaberg in the early '80's and Micheal Baker big bloke named Joe Spelta(sp?)(Joe was on a GJS and in GJS colors) had to have a run off to make the cut for the semis. Both guys were crazy fast so I don't recall why they need to have the run off. Anyway this match race was just fantastic - by the time these guys had hit the first berm they were shoulder to shoulder - the lead must have change 4 or 5 times and the commentator and crowd were going nuts watching these guys. I don't even remember who won the race but I do recall what a great race it was. Anyone remember that race? Baker went on to be a very good rider - Australian and perhaps world plates. Anyone remember Joe Spelta(sp?)?

Kurt, sand the rims down as best you can-do all the easy bits and then get them bead blasted. Blasting should take about a tenth of the time(& cost) that it would take to do Tuffs. Then WD40 will bring the colour out again.

Hey Andy, remember the shop uniforms.....

Yeah, I should have of grabbed that CW before JDC ditched it in the bin! The last time I saw it, they'd moved it from the Paraparaumu store to the Cuba Store - at the time it was "I can't beleive they've still got that thing..".
