Sorry Mick. I'm having issues with Kosy's auctions.
$23 to ship pads from Sydney to Here? I sent a frame to melbourne for less than that.
I've asked him to retract it. I know I should have looked but...my fault.

Sounds nice Angelsea, I have a friend from there and she loved it. Isn't Lindsay Fox down there?
Christian 35 is a cool change?? Your gonna freeze in winter then!.
I hope everyone stays safe down there. Terrible news storys today.
Jarvi
Yes it wasn't much fun reading the news stories this morning. Scattered rain here and not much wind so hopefully it's similar conditions in other parts.

And the good thing about Anglesea is that Mad Max lives just up the road so you know it is a safe area. Think of the movie every time I drive past the house at Fairhaven.

What we need is a big pipe (make that half pipe) running from northern Queensland all the way to the south. Plenty of water and when it's not running water a good place to ride, or race cars (Grease), or be chased by Terminators (Terminator 2) or one of the many other movies filmed in them in the LA area.

yeah, we're on the mornington peninsula - had a few close calls but nothing like the guys up northern vic are going through - holy sh!t3!!!

we're right on the south coast here and the first to get the cool change - when it came it actually came like a massive front explosion - it even rattled the windows when it came through. i was sitting inside when all of a sudden there was a big bang on the windows, i went outside thinking it may have been fire or whatever and it was instantly 12 degrees cooler - in a matter of 10 seconds - UNREAL... whilst it brought a heap of relief for us it only made things worse up north. imagine waiting for the cool change only to realise that it is the worst thing that could happen when you're in the middle of a raging blaze...

these guys have it tough, but you gotta remember, a high percentage of these fires are raging through uninhabited [by humans] forests, bush and scrublands. I gotta ask you guys to remember the massive amounts of wildlife that are being burnt to a crisp and are suffering massive burns to their bodies but haven't died. seriously, this is the heartbreaker!! most of htese animals don't have a choice of where to live because we overdeveloped the areas they did live in. now they've all been pushed out to the forests that are burning as we speak. if anyone can donate to wildlife victoria or AWARE - another wildlife rescue mob, it would be AWESOME!!
we're on our way up this weekend to do the serach for dead / dying / injured animals and wildlife, you can check out the bushfire help page on abc melbourne website to find out how you all can help - go to: http://blogs.abc.net.au/victoria/2009/02/bushfire-help.html for more info.

thanks fellaz - not taking anything away from the people in the fires, just pointing out that there are a heap of 'beings' suffering through this that may go overlooked if we don't make people aware.

ps: christian - can you email me paypal deets so ican fix you up for all the help you gave me last week. i didn't forget, as soon as i got back home i was doing the fireplan - getting the house ready for the disasterous [sic] weekend we had...

and on a more selfish note, if anyone can help me out with a brake set up for a mid school torker that'd be great. i'm also on the prowl for black or white tuffs, if anyone has any laying around.. or even just a rear alloy wheel.
velocidad
great post diavolo, well said
diavolo
thanks velocidad! our native wildlife and livestock in that area has it hard enough without this hell hitting them...

i know the human tragedy is astounding - i'm glued to the abc right now listening to live interviews with the victims - absolutely heartbreaking. i just can't think of enough ways to help. our overseas fund is about to be drained, an OS trip seems not quite so important to us at the moment i urge you all to help out in some way - it is f4cking hardcore what these peeps are going through.. even $10 bucks to one of the charities is helping out.

geez, i just read that bendigo and churchill fires were started by ciggy butts. if you're driving behind someone who throws a butt out their window, follow them home, get their address and send it in to the buttline, these jokers have no idea, their cigarette is the most important thing to them and they can't get by one short road trip without one. i am a smoker and i am going to start a petition for banning smoking in cars during total fire ban days. i reckon it's a good idea and if i do up a form, can i get some support from you guys?

i was behind a guy the other night who threw his butt out after our 45deg day [last wednesday] so i flashed my beamers and followed him home, pulled up out the front of his driveway and very visibly wrote his details down so he could see. hopefully that will deter him from being a f4ckw1t in the future..

anyway, nuff said for now, i appreciate the feedback, sometimes i can get a bit preachy, but hey, it has to be done!!

from wildlife rescuers website:

Bushfires - February 2009
We will keep you updated on events via regular updates to this webpage.

Bushfire season is a gut wrenching time of year for many but often wildlife are the forgotten ones. It is a horrific scene that is filled with sadness and at times joy for the animals you help save.

The fires that have hit Victoria are really going to impact on all species of wildlife for many weeks to come. While many may have been killed in the fires, some may have survived but are still out their with burns and as you can imagine there is little food source remaining in these areas as well.

Once a fire has passed, wildlife continue to suffer for up to a year later while their habitats regenerate. For those who were badly burnt it can take many months in care to recover. Many animals lose their entire family and have no family to return to while many other animals will go unfound.

It is dedicated volunteers who spend many weeks searching some fire grounds to find those animals that are still suffering weeks after the fire has been put out. Most animals found at this stage are suffering severe burns and infections.

Costs are overwhelming for both safety equipment, medicines, bandages and x-rays to rehabilitate the wildlife that can be saved. If you would like to assist with a donation, all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

How can I help

We are receiving a number of calls from people who are wanting to help out. Most people won't have done the required training to help out on doing fire ground searches. This training is extensive and requires people with specialised equipment, experience and knowledge of protocols and codes of conduct for these situations.

However, we are encouraging anyone who does not have experience and wants to help out to please send us an email at rescuers@bigpond.com We can use your help at triage centres and transporting supplies and animals to vets, carers and shelters.

Please include your name, contact phone number, suburb you are located in and what days & times you are available and we will get in contact with you in the next couple of days.

While the fires are going to have an enormous effect on our wildlife and the workload of our volunteers, we also have the day to day rescues and calls for animals needing assistance in suburbia e.g animals hit by cars, orphans, loss of habitat, attacks by domestic pets. We need people who can help out with day to day calls as well.
What else can I do

1. If you have a property that has been affected by fires, we can organise a team to conduct a search of the property for injured wildlife once it has been declared safe. Please contact us, if we can be of assistance.

While we are going to be really busy for many weeks to come, we will try our best to help as many people and animals as possible.

2. Our phone lines are extremely busy at the moment and in some areas we are not getting network coverage, so please be patient if you don't get in contact with us straight away. For any non urgent enquiries, please send us an email or text message and we will respond to you.

3. We need people who can help answer phone calls, take messages and make follow up phone calls.

Hi all!

Thanks mate, we are ok where we are, no threat to us. The fire is burning right outside the open cut mine now at Hazelwood about 3 kms from our place, but that place ihas got everything defending that so thats safe, my concern is for my kids who live up near Warburton with their mum.

Guys an aside here, if any of you can spare $5 or $10 bucks please donate it to the appeal here, you have no idea how bad this is, I cant describe it. Our family has already lost friends and 1 missing their son, I still havent heard if my mate in Kinglake and his family are still alive. If you can offer anything please do it, these people have nothing anymore and you bet London to a brick that they wont have any help getting back on their feet for a while as insurance companies etc figure out how they can weasel out of paying the massive damage costs.

Also, if any of you see anyone throw a butt out the window CALL the police, follow them and take their details. These people need to be held accountable for the actions.

Sorry for the downer guys.

Eventful morning for me. Returned home from the gym to interrupt a couple of guys in my house. As they ran out the side of the house I yelled, "what are you doing?" The stupid crap that comes out of my mouth sometimes and funnily enough they didn't stop to answer.

I know you are all wondering, no bike stuff taken. Only my camera etc and a borrowed video camera were taken however I do need new locks on the sliding door. Pricks.

That kind of thing peeves me big time that people can have such little respect and take your stuff. Glad they didn't get too much. Pity they didn't get hit by a car as they took off.

Hope that wasn't too harsh.

Sorry to hear it James, that sucks...no doubt some losers that are to lazy to get a job, and just think it is easier just to knock stuff off...hope karma (or a car) hits them one day!!!

Thanks guys. This is the fourth time in about ten years and is getting a bit annoying. Mainly all the paperwork and crap with insurance and trying to think what the hell is missing. At least this time there weren't many prints so not too much dust to clean, they didn't cut themselves and leave blood everywhere like one did and stuff taken doesn't have sentimental value.

On a positive note I'm using it as an excuse not to do too much work and with the Quadangle on ebay closing tonight, and some-one just making a bid, it could be much worse.

That sucks - maybe time to get a dog? On another note I hope there was no, ahem... personal and private stuff on the cameras that may show up on the internet ohmy.gif I don't look forward to seeing "jarvi's home videos" the next time I "accidently" logon to one of those sites laugh.gif
