That is a roll in section. The old GT bars just fit through there. The other end where the photo is taken is open a lot wider. I had the best fun in that old thing. I had a heap of mates riding in there with me. LOTS of fun.

Ringwood was just a bit far for me back then- I only went there once or twice - dirt riding was way more my fancy. Maybe others know some stories. it was VERY friggin deep tho. it was right beside the split in the railway line to belgrave. Did any old pancakes have pics of it??

Oct 17 2005, 05:49 AM
1) Ringwood killed 1 dude (i dont know of any more than 1).
2) Whilst being fenced off (attempted closing by council) some dude rolled a small jeep (suzuki?) upside down in the bowl.
That was the final straw, so the council filled the bowl.
3) if we get enough dudes from the Nov.5th show to grab shovels, we can dig ringwood up again and RIDE !!!!!
Ride Hard !

we would ride the 20 or so km's from the Doveton bowl to Parkdale bowl every 34 weeks. the trick was to clear the pine posts. still looking for photo's

Oct 17 2005, 09:02 PM
yeah, I used to ride there from oakleigh but it was always a fun time (if it wasn't full of water cause the drain had blocked). How deep do you reckon that bowl was? 12 foot? I can remember hitting those pine posts flying out. I don't know how many bones were broken in that bowl... I'd love to see pics if you've got em.

Boys, i have quite a few pics of dudes at parkdale 1981-83 era, but maybe 4 or 5pics of ringwood bowl.
Both lots of pics dont show too much of the overall bowl/entry, but you kinda get an idea...
I never went to parkdale, but some locals still say ringwood was 3-4 feet deeper and wider than parkdale....
2 rad bowls either way you look at it ;-)

Unbelievable. I was looking for those pedals for over a year. I happened upon a NOS stash myself luckily. However, I did see a set go for over USD $260 on US eBay last year. Something to think about . . .

Fellow Aussies, PLEASE HELP.
I've misplaced my stash of pristine old school mags. I'm looking for a particular issue of BMX News - the large foldout version. Specifically looking for scans of a black Profile Champ Pro test. That or I'll buy the issue from somebody.
Can anybody help please??? Thanks.
