Really nice color Christian. Lookin forward to seeing the end result!
James the kids these days have much bigger balls than we ever did. Cool pic and a great rider.

And bigger foam pits to learn in. I think they must be up there as the top reason for the progression in BMX and FMX. Sure, you are still putting the body on the line the first time you do it away from the foam pit, but a lot of the issues have already been sorted out such as knowing just how much effort to put into the rotation so you don't under or over rotate. By saying this I'm definitely not implying that kids have it easy these days and I never grow tired of watch them.

The funny thing is that Luke's mum was excited to learn he was doing them and couldn't wait to see one. I'm pretty sure my mum used to worry about me jumping the whoop-de-doos when racing and we're talking about one foot tall ones. Ah, the times are a changin'.
Iwantotbuyahutch
I agree James, times are definitely changing. Full credit to them though! I used to get 5 to 6 foot off a half pipe and think that was scary, but some of the stuff these days is insane! It's almost like olympic gymnastics on wheels, and probably harder in some respects.

As for the mum aspect, I used to have to get my mates to take my gear to the track and meet them there to race. Man did I hear about it when I came off and broke my thumb in a race meet that my parents didn't know I was at! laugh.gif

Aewsome G-boy Christian! I reckon that colour is very cool!

Not a bad price, do you think because of the f/f or the wheels!

lol - yeah I knew someone would say that.

Unfortunatly the rear Tuff cassette freewheel slips quite a bit which makes it unrideable - it is after all, a rider - so I gotta go allys.
I'll pots a picof it with the new wheels and stuff.
Quite like it in chrome/blue instead of the usual Hutch chrome/black etc.

Dont give up on the tuffs. Slipping cassettes are often an easy fix.
Volcano
Wow! Awesome paint then! Those gold Weinmann hoops I saw at Waz's going on it?
Kurt.
Beautiful G-Boy Christian. Very rare and cool.

Props James on the sponsorship. Great that you are supporting a kid to do what he and we love. How's Rsabout going mate - starting to get some more market presence?

paint was 300.00. thanks for the tip Matt i tell you the paint is like liquid midnight candy, it's alot darker and matches the before photo better in real life. It's sitting here pretty much built up and looks totally different tho the photo.

thanks again Matt you dirty animal biggrin.gif

Mick tose weinmanns are on it, I can't believe through wazas knowlede of annodizing and shades he matched the wienmann rims perfectly to the weinmann lever on the bike. they could have been from the same batch. happy.gif or maybe it was a fluke but they are identicle in color.

thanks Kurt.

No probs Christian...

you have made me want to send a frame to them now..Did you happen to get any samples??

Managed to get out in the garden for an hour which was good. Everything was soft so the weeds and crap came out easily. Still looks like it wants to rain again though.

Oh yeah, no work done so far and the dumb thing is that I have a sore shoulder. Am I the only one silly enough to injure themselves whilst watching BMX DVDs?

Nice Paint on the G boy Christian, you got to be happy with that.

Reece, did you get the ET paint on your chrome kuwa frame at Robertos yet? And, if you did, did it work or did the red and white bleed into pink?

Also, Black or red grips for a minigoose. Who can help a brother out?

Hey Adrian,

Nah should be back to me this week. The frame wasnt a chrome one, it is a genuine ET frame (original paint under the orange rattlecan paint). Roberto is only doing the Red, I am getting the white done here with an airbrush
AdrianH
Let me know how that goes Reece, I have a chrome KYZ that I want done in ET colours and im waiting to see how yours turns out before i do it lol.

1981 color choices were:

Blue, Red or Black Epoxy, or Chrome Plate.

The Mini and the Pit were available in chrome only.

That came directly from a 1981 Sales brochure.
Jarvi
Welcome Wayne.

Don't see many black GTs around. Why is that? For me it is because I don't like the look of chrome stickers on anything but chrome, however, that rules out all the painted ones as well.

Hi ya Wayne. Good to see you on here.
I've been to FiveDock a bit..
Jarvi
Here's a couple of photos from my one and only trip to Five Dock earlier this year.

Iwantotbuyahutch
Welcome Wayne! You will be addicted soon enough and your wife will be screaming at you to get off the computer! .....or maybe that just happens to me. huh.gif

For you Kuwahara fans out there, I recently acquired an Anniversary KZ1 Frame and Fork from "The JMCGT Superstore Clearance Sale", and noticed that there were some differences with this and the old KZ1 I used to pedal. So I sent an e-mail to Kuwahara Sales on Friday last week to clear the air about what they were aiming to acheive with the project, and I got this surprising reply, within 3 hours of my original e-mail! Totally blew me away!

Anyway,Stu suggested I post this up here in case you hadn't seen it in OZBMX. It's a bit long, but worth the read. Especially when you notice the translation from Japanese to Engrish. Also look at the dudes name that replied! ohmy.gif

Hi again John

I have had an official reply from Takashi Kuwahara ref your email and it seems your points are very valid.. he has done his best to answer fro you buy please exscuss the English!

I hope this helps

The replica frame is very similar KZ-83(newer than KZ-1) but not so different.

Exactly his indication is right. But this drawing is not original one of KZ-83. Cause if these customer buy the bike and go to BMX course easy to broken. So of course you know now BMX course is harder than 20 years ago. Almost each angle and pipe length is not so different from Original drawing. But quite different is diameter of Top tube and Down tube.

If these customer never assemble bike and only display in the room, we will sent to you original diameter at that time. But I don't think so these customer want to assemble this frame and old school parts also. For example if these old school parts broke white riding, they don't angry cause too old. But frame is not 20 years ago and suddenly broken. What do you think same situation?

Cause I little bit change for durability and long life for frame. If you can look original frame KZ-1, maybe you really surprise. Because top tube and down tube diameter only 25.4mm. Can you go to BMX course? I never go. I want to still alive.

If he really want to KZ-1 frame of Kuwahara, he have to looking for ebay.Maybe price is higher than our products if he find good one.

Finally I send to you of this drawing is not original cause now everything change.

But I drawing again from original and little bit change for durability. This is for you and your customer.

Please understand it.

Cheers.

Takashi Kuwahara

P.S. Drop end and frame gusset sometime change without notice. Cause nobody knows which is really KZ-1 frame.

Our old staff already retiered and somebody go to heaven already.

Jarvi
The Kuwie release seemed to be much more low key than some of the other projects and in my opinion (you did ask for my opinion didn't you?) was possibly the best executed of the lot. Can't remember seeing a bad thread about it anywhere. But then it was orchestrated by a local wasn't it?
COASTY
There was the usual band of purists that had a dig but not too many. I believe they are an awsome frame.
Been a while since I have been here!

last visit to FiveDock on a bike. sad.gif

Favourite visit on a bike! wink.gif
Iwantotbuyahutch
I agree. A very under rated project. The workmanship is damn good too! As as you can see by Mr Kuwahara's comments, any company would be stupid to do an exact reproduction of a 25+ year old frame. It's a law suit waiting to happen. So the purists should be thankful it didn't have new school brake mounts, a 1 1/8 head tube and 14mm dropouts! I am looking forward to riding it. smile.gif

That old bowl looks a bit like one in Canberra at Kambah, except it didn't have an end you could use, just flat ends. Going across the bowl was too tight and a nightmare in my opinion. The new bowl looks great though!
Iwantotbuyahutch
Anyone own, or know anyone who owns, a distributor business that would deal with JDB for new Hutch products? I wish i did!

Man - that reply from Kuwahara is classic - what a great read - I love the use of English there - very funny but nice!
