Been staring at the bike a bit tonight and it is a weird looking thing. Lucky it's shiney or I'd ditch it.

John, the chainring is a Petes Precision one. They come up a bit from a guy in new york I think. I may be changing mine over. If I do, I'll let you know and it's yours for the hutch.

That would be great. Many thanks if you do decide to change! It is a beautiful bike to look at as it stands though. Must have taken a hell of a lot of cutting and welding by the CW guys to come up with the prototype! Lot's of scrap tubing on the floor...
Jarvi
Thanks Marty.

Adam I think it looks good although I'd be swapping the number plate out. Not sure what plates look best on CW bars.

Glenn, I assume tuff wheels for the Quad so what else is planned for it?
JMCGT
White and Black moto control plate...that was the first thing i said...
think its just a bit too much red...it is a very nice plate though..

Glenn, you are running hot...did you get some tax back..LOL
COASTY
James, yeah black Tuffs of course. I always thought they were odd back then. I bought the PK because I wasn't sure. This time the Quad got the nod. Just 1 piece cranks and some stuff I already have.
Matt, my wife is being generous with her grandads inheritance. I was going to sell some crap i have anyway.

ADAM that bike is lovely!!

coasty, nice FF. lots of good stuff.

Adrian , nice meeting you make sure you send me a pic when shes all cleaned up.

Beautiful CW Adam!!!

Awesome bike adam!

Hey guys - I am still looking for a white or black Haro plate - Flo Panel, B1B, Tech or Series One.
Does not need to be NOS.

I have a set of 90s Cooks Quality Products 176mm crank arms for trade (in used condition, need clean and prob best for a rider).

On another note, Here's one for the car buffs.....

There you are, you've bought yourself a nice farm block with a huge barn on it, you check out the barn, but it's welded closed.....you're curiosity eats away at you until you finally crack open the barn and find .........http://www.intuh.net/barnfinds/

I wish there was a BMX barn ;-)

That Portugese Barnfind story is pretty famous amongst car collectors. It isn't axactly a "barnfind". Indeed, it is someones collection. The full story is in the link below:

Hi Xavier,

Though Qty's are required for print.

Is there anyone else out there after any.

Adrian, yeah I have, but I would suggest that you make sure that everything is really clear on what you are buying and shipping/packaging costs because the communication is not great with the lack of Engrish. The one thing I bought was hopelessly packaged and was almost falling out when it arrived. I don't think Bubble Wrap exists in Thailand..... "arhh yas, blow bubbles wen wapping...."

Good luck!
Jarvi
Adrian, most are good although there's a couple that communication isn't too hot. Natty from Thailand is a member here and used to be sandy_bmx although not sure if he still is. Top guy to deal with. Can't remember the others off the top of my head as it's been a while since I visited ebay outside Australia.
JMCGT
Thats funny John...must buy what you are drinking...???what is it

Natty72 + Sandybmx are awesome and speak english as good as you and I......

Clean tonight! No spirits!

Thanks for the info guys, very much appreciated. I have seen some nice stuff coming from there at very reasonable prices - Kashimax seats, Kuwahara padsets etc. So I will keep an eye out for natty and sandy bmx.

Cheers Adrian

Is anyone out there after a DB Harry Leary. A bloke has one for sale wants over 1000usd for it, way outta my league im afraid, pm me if you want his details. He is preparing the bike for sale.. photos etc and is sending me the serial number tonight. If i win tatts this weekend its mine lol. I dont know this bloke, but i would rather see this bike come to Oz rather than end up on ebay and go stateside or worse europe lol.
Im fairly sure he is fairdinkum... not a fishing expedition, well i hope not anyway.Cheers Adrian
JMCGT
sounds yummy Adrian...love to see pics
Jarvi
I will be. Hang on, I stay at home every day. Like I need another distraction from doing work though.

I'm as sick as dog with the flu today, but that DB made me feel a little better..

Nice DB for sure....if it is a Turbo, it's a Turbo II (small gusset)

It appears the frame and forks have been refinished and most of the parts aren't stock Turbo, but in saying that he will get his money for it...it looks sweet...Is it located in Australia or O/S?

If ever a genuine Harry Leary Turbo comes up, I would swap just about anything I have for it. They are an all time classic in my opinion.

Can't wait to see more photo's...
AndyDiamond
looks like and Aussie bike with that Invada plate - weren't the DB Invada plates Aussie factory team only?

Mr.BMX
Yep, thats a 1984 Turbo (or an 84 DB with turbo decals on it (without being able to see closer details of frame).

The 1982/83 turbo has the traditionally 'large' front gusset. cool.gif

Volcano
Sweet DB! never seen a small gusset like that.
Throw on a straight pole & a set of DB MKS pedals....and you're set!
JMCGT
or throw $1000 and its yours Mick..
and definately a straight pole mate..
84profile
Here you go Mick, here's a original turbo 1982 (non standard tires)

Here's a Turbo II 1984

I've got to have one!!!
JMCGT
the 82 looks like Lee,s....am i right..
can i have that for $1000.. i wish!!!
shame about the chain....AGAIN...so many bikes with no chains
Volcano
Oh yeah Stu!!!! That's the stuff....

Matt - I got my DB senior, parts all over the place ready for annoing...should look great once it's built...LOL

Hey Matt...can I borrow $1000....interest free of course!
AdrianH
Ok fellas, i have more pictures and the serial number now, the bike is in Asia somewhere hes umming and ahhing over price now so who knows.
Serial no. is 4E0007 with the baseball on the rear dropout.

AndyDiamond
I really liked the grey they did those in around 85.

84profile
That finish above is not factory...to be honest looks like a dodgy powder or spray job...

The original smoked chrome finish was awesome to look at, although it was less than durable

Me! Nothing yet though - wow athletic repeats and the 10km swim. Exciting NOT.

I'm with Stu - gloopy thick refinish on a second gen Turbo with mostly non OG parts. Much prefer the '82s and '83s myself.
Kurt.
On NOW!
AdrianH
Yeah I asked him about the chrome, it came of so he had it resprayed. I dont think its worth more than the $1000usd he originally offered it to me at. Ive heard no more from him so if you guys want to contact him his ebay name is superfly-bangkok, and he lives in Thailand lol.
rsrichie
Id be weary of it as it might not be a HL turbo due to the paint and the fact it has very few original parts on it but hey i could be wrong. The most expensive and hard to get parts are not there. like these puppies

Just looks like a spray bombed F1 to me.
AdrianH
Thanks for that fellas, im glad i didnt have the cash to buy it.

Richie, i will be building a silver streak later on in the year, how much would a set of turbo cranks of yours set me back?

Also if anyone has DB forks and Bars i will be after some of those in a couple of months too.

Cheers Adrian
Bradster
Hey Adrian, I've dealt with superfly bangkok on ebay B4, him as the buyer - smooth transaction but I'd be wary of sending $$$ like that to a foreign country, outside of ebay etc.

Is everyone enjoying the olympic BMX?!!!!!!!!!!! My good lady taped 8 hrs worth of footage today so as not to miss any action!! Just seen Kamakaze's first run - eewww, Graves kicked butt heh!!!
I'm pretty amped atm, bought a '08 Felt cruiser a couple of weeks back, reckon I'll be back there for a run soon!!

Yeah, i just been looking at OS-DB site and frankly you could quite easily make a very good HL replica and no one would know the diff. Hell I could do it with my Silver Streak frame.

Thanks for the heads up Bradster.
