Hey Boys

Slightly off topic, I'm a totally huge Top Gear fan, I don't actually watch it on TV because we are 3 sessions behind...you can download it (gotta have at least adsl2 or else be prepared to wait a week for it to download) the day after it goes to air in the UK...

Here is the link...it is awesome!

Cut and past this into your browser!

Kurt are you in Sydney?
Kurt.
Hey Rohan. Yeah - In Sydney tonight and tomorrow night. Staying at the Meriton in Chinatown. Different mobile: 0458 542 771.

Hey Guys, had a real 'moment' this arvo...read on at my expense...........

Finished work earlier enough to get the kids from school, so I grabbed the pride-n-joy Hutch pro 20" out for a spin, (this is the first time I've ridden it properly with my new chrome wheels I got from Stu, GT X-tra tall bars/new grips etc) on our way home we pass a newly completed concrete skatepark. It's been raining on and off all day, as we get to the park I'm saying to my kids (my kids are 8 & 5) "please be carefull guys the wet concrete will be really slippery" (you can see where this is going!) I no sooner get the bike on the concrete for a roll around, apply a little acceleration and BAMM the comp 3s say 'where not made for this stuff" so here I am, in front of some local kids, flat on my face!! I'm watching my bike spin on the cement nicely along it's fork decal whilst the newly installed AME's get a grinding too! I think it's the fastest I've ever gotten back on my feet! A couple of light grazes to the knee/elbow and also pretty darn wet after lying in the puddle! My pride was hurt the most!
Maybe next time I'll just walk the dog!!! LOL

So how was your day!!!
scratch_one-s_head.gif
Kurt.
Ouch Brad. Ouch.

In several ways.

But hey - we fell off all the time BITD too...
COASTY
That really sucks Brad but like Kurt said, we did it all the time bitd.
I know how you must feel though. The pride thing hurts more than the pain or damage. Well maybe not the damage. LOL

Oh and I had a "great" day too. I had to detail a BLACK Civic AND a BLACK Patrol ! Man I hate black cars.
GTHODAD
Hey guys would this be a classic example of shonky bidding?

Im startingto see the dark side of ebai.
JMCGT
that sucks Brad..get back on that horse son
you never know John...some guys are just so tight..they will try and get it for the next dollar, but it does look very suspicious...

Happy B/day Christian
Iwantotbuyahutch
Bad luck Brad. Was the Hutch a "Carpet Queen" or a rider? I am guessing that either way it's now a rider?

You are allowed to bid for your own item aren't you? Maybe that is the situation in that auction. Doesn't look right though.
Volcano
Thanks for the email James! Much appreciated mate. good2.gif
Bradster
John - she's a rider now!! haha Actually it's a good thing in a way, the bike now has a genuine 'battle scar' from me - it's like bragging rights (?!). I don't mind - the orig owner I bought it off said he hardly rode it, a spill on it makes it more mine, if that makes sense!

Stu - great link mate! I'll be giving my download quota a good floggin' next month with this one!!
84profile
Sorry to hear about your stack Brad...wet concrete and comp 3? not a great combo!

That reminds me, John-Wannahutch, of this shopping centre (Southlands in the ACT) on the way home from school that had bright orange (hey it was the 80's) shiney pavers, and lets just say riding on the them in the wet was like riding on ice...Had hours of fun almost knocking down shoppers doing "power" slides!

Brad, quick tip downloading Top Gear, do it at night when you go to bed, it is much faster as there are many more peer machines available in the UK when we are asleep...With 1.5g ADSL2 I can get them down over night in about 4 hours...but yes they certainly suck your download allocation up!!
Bradster
Hey Stu - I still can't believe how fast the bike went down yesterday! Still it made for some good chat/p*ss take at work today!

Yep I'm a regular P2P fiend, 2mb/25gbs worth. I really want to find the (top Gear) episode with the RV race - that was the best!!
Iwantotbuyahutch
Hey Stu, yeah I remember those tiles. Not that the thought even entered your mind at the time as a teenager, but I wonder how many times they were sued for those tiles by people cracking their heads from slipping over. They did make for some entertainment though. Now if you were the adult being slid at by a teenager on a BMX today, what would your reaction be?

Iwantotbuyahutch
".... P155 0FF YOU LITTLE AR..........."

Hey, just a question guys. There aren't many of you here tonight, but, what should I buy for a rider? I'd love a Kuwahara KZ1, even the 2007 model repro, because I used to own one before my Hutch, but I don't have that much money. Or maybe an old GT Pro, as they seem to be a little more common. Anyone selling anything rider worthy? Brad, considering you have a new rider, would you sell the Hutch? Te he he he...
JMCGT
hey John..i have two of the KZ1 frame and forks ( black and chrome ) to which i will sell when i get up north..
brand new in box..keep it in mind..
Brad, i have fallen through roofs before, two stories up...and thought i had enough time to grab a rafter on the way down...NOT!!!...happens too Quick..

but personally John..i think you should buy an old hutch with old parts...or similar...

OK Guys, start buildin your tralier queens or daily riders.

4th Annual Australian Vintage BMX show in Melb at Knox track on 8th of Nov.

QUICKSILVERBMX will be there,
even if we have to put a stamp on his butt and mail him there.... smile.gif
ACGTO
A special guess at the show will be ace. The big question is will he get his hands on a helium in time to bring across. Surely one of us can line it up.

Want to build a Team Quickie.

Guys, any help with a rough date of these GT bars would be appreciated. 28.75" wide and a tad under 9" high. Stamped with the old GT logo but newer decal. They don't appear to have been used as no marks from a stem. Don't have much backsweep at all and a big oval crossbar. Thanks.

JMCGT
definatley not positive, but i would have said around 88 James..

Hey guys,

a couple of newies on, welcome!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, mmmmmmm 40............ well I was told I was too old to ride Bmxs at 25 so I'm not too worried. Been a volatile year so my wife decided to take me to Fiji for my birthday. 30 or so all day and the beach water was a nice 26 degrees. We soaked up the sun killed a bottle of Grey goose, Benadictine, lot's of wine and many Fiji bitters. Any one know where I can get my liver sandblasted and relined?

Cheers again.

Christian

who's building what at the moment, it's a little slow on project reports around here.
QuicksilverBMX
Sounds like you had a nice 40th C!

I am building a GT santa ana and a Team Jag when it gets here.

Some bad news guys, the Perth annual bike show (2 wheels good) is on the 9th November so I wont be able to attend the Knox event on the 8th sad.gif

its on its way over from Europe

Heres the pics I went off before I did the deal

James

I had some bars like that on a 91 GT

look at the GT catalogs on AJK bikes >>>>>>>
Jarvi
Sounds like a good time Christian. I still have a Haro FST in the works and only needs a set of tuffs to be put back together and it's done. Just can't find the motivation to do it. Perhaps because I have to move so much crap to be able to get at it.

Reece, you have it around the wrong way. You won't be able to attend the Perth event because you will be over here.
84profile
Hey birthday Christian! Keep riding man, it keeps us young..

James, I got a NOS set of those when I first started collecting, I won't even tell you what I paid, and then subsequently saw them listed for ...eeeekkkkkk....lession learned...Mine came in the original bag and were marked Mach 1 1995 (keeping in mind that is now 13 years ago!!).

They are actually great bars, but I wouldn't class them as old school, here was my first rider from about 2 years ago...that is completely different now...

Then

Now

Jarvi
Thanks guys. There's a photo in the 90 catalog that sort of looks like them. Very high crossbar seems to be the distinctive thing.

These ones look new although a couple of marks on the grip area but nothing where the stem clamps them. To be honest I have no idea where I got them from. They are on the for sale list that I have been putting together today. Yep, still cleaning crap out of the garage, not that you would notice if you looked at it.
84profile
Show us a look James....I've only heard about your labyrinth...let's see some pic's...
broke L345
hey Reece here is mine, trying to make it as original as possible.

JMCGT
do your bars have the vertical GT stamp Stu..
Jarvi
No, too embarrassed. It's an absolute mess and I'm usually a tidy person.

Anyone want a 26" slick? I used it a few times on my MTB on a wind trainer but my lazy-[please review the site FAQs] self couldn't be bothered changing it all the time, let alone using the trainer. Besides, slicks don't really belong on MTBs anyway. Would probably fit in a $5.50 post pack for anyone who wants it.

broke L345
ok, there are a few obvious issues right now which I will be fixing. the grips, the seat post clamp and the brakes, I have silver ones(thanks Waz) and they have the RH lever. ( I'm an anti lefty for the rear). here are some eagles that I have been restoring for my Matthews.I need to wash those tires!!

QuicksilverBMX
what bars are they Christian? I have no idea what I am going to use for mine
broke L345
I have no idea, just plain stock alloy bars. they looked the same as the team jag on the brochure. So I got them.
84profile
Matt, don't have them (the GT Bars) any more, but I'm pretty sure the logo was vertical....I think....

Come on Jame's I reckon looking at a stacks of bikes, no matter how they are arranged is always eye candy!!
Jarvi
All right Stu, I might put a collage together tomorrow. That way I can pick and choose the good bits...
84profile
Sounds awesome mate, I'm sure you live in Aladins Cave!!
proline2
sooooo, who bought the team quicky that was on the bay the other day?
