Kicks
hey Quicksilver. heres the frame i was wondering about,a 24 or 26? maybe a 26 by the headtube gap?

COASTY
LOL Mick you can't see around the corner! And theres a female copper across the street too!
Matt every sunday I have a kip on the two seater. Very comfy!
Kicks, I'm gonna sat it's a 26. It's a big mofo.
Jet Black
Must have been a huge mofo that rode that Quicksilver Cruiser if he had that seatpost set up that high in it.....The 24's & 26's had the same length headtubes from memory.

How attached are you to that frame Kicks ?

I'm looking to build a bigger cousin & companion to keep with the original 20 inch double downtube BBR frame welded up by Mark Bradley that I have had since 1981 (?)

It is the first of only 3 made & the basis for the 24 & 26 inch cruisers that
came outta the Competition Developement / Quicksilver factory.

I got a lot of good history & fond memories with the BBR 1 smile.gif

Owning and building an example of what the BBR 1 evolved into would

REALLY MEAN A LOT TO ME.

Can we make a deal or something , when I am less tired & totally wired
at seeing the frame you have.

JB

GTHODAD
I have a hunch the prices of any BBRs for sale just suddenly quadrupled!
Kurt.
Must be Moose Madness Month...

Thoughts on a date that suits everyone? Glenn...what dates are you free?
QuicksilverBMX
Hey all, I went away for the weekend and just got back today.

Kicks I am pretty sure you have a 26" cruiser ther, very nice find! One way to find out is to get an old rim and try it out for sure!

Heres what I picked up on my travels! More pics in the main forum!

Jarvi
Nice pickup Reece. A few decent bits there.

If you guys can hold out until August for another BBQ I'd be able to make it. Otherwise just have another one in August as I'll be up that way for a few weeks with my bike. Would love to catch up again.
JMCGT
definatley James..we will have one when you get here as as well...good reason for another..probably arrange a parade down the main st too ..LOL
good pickup Reece..just got rid of one of those..86?? better fork than the ones i had..and the stem look like it will turn out new..
hey Mick..just put the Nat Pro together..looks rad..finished with the VANS box yet ..LOL ( private joke)
seen a few pics of waza floating around in the background at the rock
COASTY
Nice score there Reece. Looks pretty good.
Matt/Mick I can make it whenever. If i have enough notice I am planning holidays for later on in the year so it's cool.
JMCGT
how about three Saturdays from now..start of July..whatever that date is..GOT THAT ADAM!!..
JMCGT
hold that thought..might be the following??..Adam sons b/day
COASTY
Nah i won't be able that soon. I have my daughter up for school holidays then i'll be broke for a while.
Kurt.
I reckon about '85 Reece.

Checkout www.ajkbikes.com - he has an '86 Redline catalogue there - in that the stickers are very similar, except the bike is an RL20II.

How's the stem - will the rust clean off the quill with OA or is it too deeply pitted/flaking.

Great pickup anyway.
JMCGT
Hey Kurt..did you get that patterson off Jake?? i know where there are a few more..not sure if there for sale, but i can find out..they are 83 ?? i think
QuicksilverBMX
Stem is quite nice, should clean up well.

Yeah I am not sure about the model now, stickers look very original but the forks dont look like RL-20 type forks, just normal Redline forks
JMCGT
mine were original from bitd akisu forks..same frame, pretty sure its 86
Kurt.
Hey Matt,

Not yet mate. Jake's still waiting on the frame.

Thanks for the offer mate but I'll have a look at this one first.

Got pretty much everything else I need now. Can't decide on the stem to put on it - got a spare Redline Brute Stem, a Suntour power Stem and and a square Tuf-Neck. Leaning towards the TN.

Got a good used Patty handlebar pad - if you come across any orphan good used stem or frame pads, LMK!

I'm actually in Melbourne tonight on a flying 24 hr visit. Didn't get a chance to try and catch up with anyone. I'm in Sydney at the end of July (30/31 I think) though - keen to catch up with any of the NSW crew!
JMCGT
cool mate...tuff neck for sure..
Volcano
What VANS box?...what choo talkin' 'bout willis???...LOL
GTHODAD
Reece That RL20 looks more like a 102b. I once saw one the same with RL 15th Anniversary stickers on it. The RL20 had footstand chain stays. Shimano and Redline? Redline were more involved with Suntour and Sugino than with Shimano. Cheers.
Kurt you shoulda done the 24hr Melbourne flyin for the DC night!

You can say that again! angel.png
AndyDiamond
that red CW Phaze 1 is RAD!

JMCGT
Thanks Andy,
your red .5,s are on the Nat pro now

very funny Arnold..LOL
proline2
quicksilverbmx, do the dropouts have knurling? if so it will be '85 or later.
102b would be tri-moly. 600c and 500b were full.

Kurt that sounds like a great project you have, defo put the TN on it. brutes are for redlines, not that i'm biased LOL
JMCGT
come on proline..i had a brute on my GT, BITD.. redline had a couple of good parts...LOL
Volcano
Hey guys...I'm searching for all or any info on the Alloy SLA frames.
After seeing the first one ever made at the Qld BBQ in May, I really would like one!!! (yeah, chances - i know...LOL)
If you have any pics, info or contacts...can you post them up? Cheers
Volcano
Hahahaha.......Just HAD to post this up! Classic....LOL

come on proline..i had a brute on my GT, BITD.. redline had a couple of good parts...LOL

aaah the innocence of youth LOL

i was the opposite, i had a TN on my quicky which got transfered to my proline until i went to Darwin and saw a brute. of course i had to have it..............just like Stu, you see LOL
like everyone else my bikes went through a multitude of changes over the years. mostly upgrading components as i only had 2 frames in the 5 years or so back then.

has anyone seen the proline on ebay? i've never seen a Tange fork for 5" head tube before. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...A:IT&ih=011

that's a lot of money for a frame set that has incorrect forks and stickers.
COASTY
I saw those forks and thought the same. I have never seen 5 inch Tanges. But then again Jeff Watson had 5 inch headtube Bottema forks on his Proline. The only set I have ever seen. But he was sponsored by them too.
Jarvi
Redline brute stems go on anything. They were my only choice of stem (couldn't afford the Tuf Necks) so I had them on my Hutch and PK Ripper. Still love them. We just didn't have Tuf Necks down our way I don't think. Can't remember really seeing them at all other than the cruiser pro neck that came on the 24" Quicksilvers.

Kurt, I'll probably be in Sydney the same time as you on my way to QLD. Planning on riding 30/7. Can't wait. Got the car serviced today ready for the trip north. $1800!!!
Sumo178
Kurt the Patto is on its way to me so when it gets here I'll send some pics.
Kurt.
Cool James - we'll have to try and get these Sydneysiders out of their bunkers and out to have some fizzy drinks... $1800 for a service on your Porsche Carrera 4 S. Ouch!

Mick - you crack me up - still can't believe you trawl these pics up!

Hey thanks Jake. Cool mate.

Allen, Glenn - Yeah - I had a set of those Tange TX1200 forks for a 5" steering head - I only remember because I had to shorten them to fit them to my frame. They must have been threaded well down the tube because I never had the gear to re-tap threads. Don't have them anymore as I updated to TRXs in '81.
proline2
sorry fellas my brute stem comment was tongue in cheek. i didn't mean to offend anyone.

maybe the old tange forks came with 6" steer tube for the schwinns. a few of those frames had the 5" head tube as well as the prolines. i can't think of any other frames that would have had 5" head tubes back then.
Jarvi
No offense taken. I too was just having a bit of fun.

Kurt that was for the BMW. Included new front brakes, rear shocker mounts and a few other nasties. $55 to replace a globe in the clock!! Past experience with stuffing around in dashboards just resulted in a heap of rattles so I steer clear of them now. Until last year the car has run perfectly and two $1800 bills isn't pretty. Of course not expecting too much sympathy because at the end of the day it's my choice to own it.
Kurt.
Oh well James - she'd be handling and stopping better now. Great little bimmer. Must be tempting to take the Porsche for a good long cruse though.

Hey Allen - I'm a big fan of the old Brute stems. Tough looking and really strong. Like the old school font too. Classic stem.

When I bought my original Tanges (early '80 I think) there were still plenty of dragster conversions going on - a number of those had the 5" head tube too.
