Adam said I had first dibs on what to ride down the beach to the show so the rest of you will have to choose something other than the latest PK Ripper that was revealed.

I'm glad others sit in their lounge and look at their bikes. I've also been known to reach over the back of the chair to touch my Street Beat. Oh, that came out a bit creepy didn't it?

Hi Mick,

Yeh into the V-DUBZ too, I got the Haro bout 9 years ago, it was hanging from the roof inside a bike shop here in perth, it had the original guarantee rolled up in the crank case. paid bout $185 then. I used it for 2 years but i only had late 80's components to put on it then. I went back to the UK for a few years, then came back, and now here to stay. Took all the components of it and I am currently trying to locate parts to suit it better.

Cheers,
Steve
Volcano
Hey Steve - Talk to Jarvi, Scotty or Roberto...they'll know how to source some parts for it!
Why not put a Porsche engine in the Kombi and wheel-stand it at the lights!...LOL

Hey Christian - were you saving on NOS seatpoles and cutting them in half to get two out of one?
Is that why they're so low...LOL
broke L345
funny Mick,

Nah I alsways rode with the seat out of the way back then and still do now, I never understood the "harry high pants" seat pole position. The only guys that I knew that had their seats right up their asses did it to mono their bikes better. I got out of racing BITD in '82, the high seat posi must have come in with all that fluro stuff around 84. bit too much paroxide in the hair. biggrin.gif

sorry for taking the [I tried to curse] out of high polers (I'm sure its gonna come and bite me back)
Kurt.
Hey Christian,

I saw what I thought was an OS Torker when I was down in Hobart yesterday.

Guy in his 20's with a beard was riding it - had been rattle-canned matt black and no stickers. Had Skyway Tuffs - and instead of your style gussets, had small Redline ones. Couldn't get a better look as I was driving beside him at the time!

Does it sound like any sort of OS Torker to you?

Hey Waz - I'm up in Melbourne for a meeting early April - hopefully it'll be close to that show weekend.
Kurt.
Hey Stu - yeah, good to see some more members - wait till Pete's show on Collectors, that'll flush some out of the woodwork I reckon and generate some ideas among the old racers and riders. Watch Aussie e:bay...

Pete - Are you being flown to Hobart for an in-studio session on Collectors as well, or are you totally pre-recorded?
QuicksilverBMX
Hey Porker welcome aboard, I am in Perth too, where abouts are you? There is quite a few over here doing the old school thing, we ride every Friday night from the casino and head into the city.
Jarvi
I guess you could call Stu one of the high-polers and having gone for a few rides with him, the front wheel is off the ground more than it is on so you may be right.

Welcome Porker. What is it about VWs and BMX. More than a few people have an interest in both.

I can also confirm that Adam does have more than one set of Profile cranks and Hutch pedals. I saw his collection all in one place last night and unless he was doing something shifty with mirrors there was more than a set. By the way, if you haven't seen his blue Hutch Judge in person then you must. That bike is simply fantastic and a credit to both he and Roberto. Put it next to Leroy's Pro Racer and the two of them will blow your mind.
broke L345
not off the top of my head Kurt. The 84 was kinda like the Haro freestyle bikes.Infact it may even have a tube at the bottom rather than a gussett, I have to check bmx museum.

I rotate my bikes so there is always one in the house, my chrome and blue Torker just came in yesterday, I was staring at it all night. It stops me from getting too used to seeing them.this one is still my favorite, seeing it's a recreation of my childhood bike, it was like unwrapping it when I was twelve.

I'm sounding like an old fart now.. dry.gif
Pete Porker
Hey Porker, are we related ?!!
Kurt, no unfortunately no free trip to Hobart for me ! Maybe i was cut from that after i put their host in the dust ! Twice !
Volcano
You needed some 16' motomags for that sidehack, Pete!
Q: Was filming/stunt riding done before or AFTER you guys came back from the pub?...LOL
Kurt.
Thanks Pete - Looking forward to it!

Hey fellas - you might remember early last month our Water Ski Club had an attempt at the world record for most skiers behind one boat - we were going for 120!

This Sunday at 1:30 PM on Channel 9/WIN, the TV show "The Boatique" will be running a story on our ski attempt - spectacular viewing. I featured a bit on local news clips, so if you see a guy wearing a skeleton shirt over his Wetsuit/PFD - that's me! biggrin.gif

Cheers Kurt
JMCGT
hope this works, here,s a pic of me and my patterson BITD...and hi jarvi..i too had a 74 vw bus for around six years
broke L345
nice mullett cool.gif , nice bike too!

can anyone here help me with caustic soda? how much, how long do I soak alloy for etc. thanks for any help.
JMCGT
mullet well gone,polished now mate...
JMCGT
sorry try again
JMCGT
hey broke..whereabouts from melbourne.....caustic soda....coulpe of tablespoons to a litre of water, dont breathe over your mix.....leave for around 10 to 15 seconds ,do not leave too long ..dont wont alloy to go black....then have a large bin on water to rinse in...i use a toothbrush to remove original finish...keep going in small doses until happy with what you have removed...but dont leave too long..matt
Jarvi
And I think it ws JB that said to have some vinegar handy just in case you need to neutralise the caustic soda.
Kurt.
Oh yeah - Caustic is nasty $h!t. Came across a woman through my work years ago who had been renovating an old house - paint stripping using caustic. SHe had caustic in a soft drink bottle in the hall. Picked it up and drank it by mistake. Now drinks and eats through a tube in the side of her stomach...

If it's just removing anodising, why not use Mr Muscle oven cleaner? It'll bring it straight off - contains a weak blend of caustic in with other stuff.
broke L345
good idea kurt i'll check it out.

Matt I'm in "Franga" Frankston, I know, not really melbourne but I ride at south eastern or eastfield. Maybe you need a mullett wig. smile.gif funny that you are on the bonnet of an old Val. where are you mate looks like resevoir or ivanhoe, maybe Doncaster.(just going by the house...)

Christian
JMCGT
hey christian,i,m in knoxfield, about a k from the track...
Kurt.
Hey Christian,

Even Mr Muscle will pit the alloy if left on too long. I give it no more than 5 mins and then give it a rub with an old toothbrush. Leave it a little longer if it's not all coming away. Rinse it well in soapy water as soon as the colour is all off. Don't forget to wear gloves and don't splash it in your eyes. Then get ready to polish!

Oxalic Acid can make you a bit lazy with chemicals cause it's pretty much benign - stinky, but benign! Caustic will burn you!
JMCGT
hey kurt..where do you live mate
Kurt.
Hey Matt,
Just over the creek from you sorta (down on the north coast of Tassie!)
Cheers Kurt
JMCGT
yeh ok..coming over in 4 weeks for a week ,hiring a winabago...thinking of sticking to the east coast mainly...any good old bike shops to rummage through LOL..or have you taken care of that..
Kurt.
LOL Matt - you never know what you'll find down here. Lewis (DBRadpads) and I have both seperately hit up a lot of shops, but there's always stuff to be found. Last year I found this stuff in one morning in two shops...
JMCGT
ah yes lew...i have a complete 3.1...getting rare...i have been talking to lew about purchasing his phase 1... i have a candy red one and a crome one would be a nice investment.i think i bought some of those aero plates of one of you guys around 18 months ago...a black one and a blue???
Kurt.
Yeah that was me Matt - sold a lot of those plates all over the world - I lucked on to about 30 of them I think. Got a blue one on my Hutch XL24 rider and a white one put away for another build. That's all now. If you got a black one you must have bought from me early - only ever had a couple of them.

JMCGT
what was the price tag on the 3.1 pounder
Kurt.
I can't tell you, you might cry!
JMCGT
thats the plates...my blue one has no studs, the black does...it now resides on my pk..
Kurt.
You sure you got the blue one from me - all mine had studs, I'm sure??? PM sent by the way.
JMCGT
good price...i got mine for a good price too..well done...i dont cry..i am happy to watch bloke salvage these beautiful old bikes...are you coming over for the melbourne event
Kurt.
Maybe - just waiting on details of some work meetings in Melb - if I can possibly fit it in to my trip, I'll be there. Spent a week inVic last winter and it was great to catch up with Waza and Jarvi. In Sydney before Christmas and caught up with Damon too. Really hoping to catch up with some of these crazy QLD members in November!!!
