Hey coastvl I was looking at BMX pancake mag no.5 on page 57 is that a pic of you and the PK ? The cap is wrong I think
Sep 21 2005, 05:14 AM
Well i finally got the cranks finished today for my boys new ride (re :crossriderozzy) , 170 down to 135mm long - check em out:
many thanks to serva for kindly donating the first crankset , they ended up being a damn practice run before i shortened this one, due to a weird chainring PCD.... I hate borrowing tools, and buying a set of park pedal taps is $$$ so one of my work buddies and i made some taps out of old pedal spindles and away we went. there's not enough meat left in the crank arm for 9/16" pedals so 1/2" it had to be, so he gets my origy didge KKT's 4 now. here's another pic, check the clearance between the the sew-up and the fork, the rubber tags rub! :
can anybody name the frame? I think it looks the dropouts look like waza's superoo....
Sep 21 2005, 05:23 AM
hey mattblack, here is page 57 of number 5 : <click here>
are we talking the same page??
Sep 21 2005, 05:25 AM
Nice job on the cranks! Got claerance?? Geez not much in that front wheel is there? Bike looks awsome whatever it is.
Mattblack, scan that pic. I dont have that issue. Is it a speed jumping thing or something? I did see me in one of them.
Sep 21 2005, 05:25 AM
Yes !!! I'm sure that is Glenn look close at number plate it's signed by someone
Sep 21 2005, 05:37 AM
I didn't have more than a couple of issues of pancake bitd, sadly all long gone now... anyway I have recently been loaned number 5 and are nearly finished scanning it in to a pdf. (many thanks to the doner!!) i'd love to scan more issues in - with a view to getting them all on to cd/dvd to share around if anybody wants to help? l.m.k.
Sep 21 2005, 05:40 AM
I'd be more than happy to help. I dont have many aussie mags sadly. I usually read them at the bike shop. Yes I'm cheap! I do have a cd burner though. Send away and I'll burn some and I'll see what issues I have to scan.
Sep 21 2005, 05:40 AM
glenn- the chainring clears the frame by 3mm! and thats a 39 tooth front.
Sep 21 2005, 05:42 AM
lol Thats some tight clearance issues. Try a new school chainring. They come much smaller than our old ones.
Sep 21 2005, 05:44 AM
I just had a thought, that wont work with those cranks, will it? Oh well. Maybe a 10 speed old school would work. I dont know, just thinking out loud....sort of.

nah - its all good as far as the gearing, it seems ok for him, and i've never seen smaller than 39t on a shimano 110mm spider anyway so it'll hafta do!
Sep 21 2005, 05:58 AM

Hey Rohan, that pic must be of me cause it's been ripped out of the issue number 5 I have. Must have been one of my many fans ! lol

Just so you guys know, there were only 13 issues of pancake ever published, and 1 'yearbook' then they went into an indefinate break ;-)
I have all 14 mags, and will also be doing a scan/cd job sometime......keeping the memories alive.
I never got any feature pics in pancake myself, but i get mentioned a lot at the vic race meets, and i did appear on the cover of the yearbook behind the foreground dude, oh well, it's something i guess hehehehe.
Sep 22 2005, 03:10 PM
Go the Aussies!!!
When I read all the aussie mags I look for people I know. I dont know some of you guys' real names though.
It was definately one of my many highs being in Pancake twice!
Sep 22 2005, 05:26 PM
I have issue 1 of Pancake I think - plus about three others including the one with the Trans Tasman challenge which was at my home track - Geyserland.
I'm in that issue
I also have a copy of the first and only issue of NZ's BMX magazine - Peddlepusher (I know - CRAP name!).
I did the cartoon for it - I was a Bob Haro wannabe.
