Kurt.
Just got back from half a week in Canberra - man was that barren of vintage BMX stuff!

Reece - at least you got something for all your time. You've got a real knack for finding 24" comp 3s!

Piker - I'm really pleased you finally found the set of rad pads you were looking for.

Brad - I'd love to see a pic of your old school influenced cruiser.

It was nice to get back and find another thread hadn't been terminated...

COASTY
She's a beauty Brian. I wish I could afford it. It'd be looked after for sure.
I must congratulate Waza and Rob for their stories and pics in Rebelyell mag. Great stuff guys. I noticed some old Fivedock pics in there too. 6 years after i rode it but old nevertheless.
COASTY
I forgot to mention Scottish John too. Great stuff guys.
AndyDiamond
Hey guys, for the story of what happens next, check out the Tech and Restoration thread 'Dying Grips'.
A nice little experiment.

broke L345
I thought I'd try to get a pic only thread going of Australian restored bikes, something that would make the rest of the BMX world jealous!! And a way of us being able to go back and check out what every one has built. I hope you can all add pictures to it, sort of like an on line museum of all our bikes but please keep comments to this thread.

Martin please put your pics there, and Waz I'm sure you could fill a few pages worth. Vdad..... your Crossrider, Reece you have a few sweeties to put up!

thanks,

Christian
broke L345
OH YEAH,

ACGTO put some of your # 17s up too.
broke L345

Okay, I love a brute stem, but is there something special about this one, that I'm not seeing? If it was NOS I could almost understand...

Brute Stem
AndyDiamond
wow - big price!
proline2
that's a bit large, but then i'm finding a lot off stuff has gone up over the short time i've been doing this hobby.
even larger was a suntour clamp that went for nearly 70 bucks on aussy bay the other week. you can get a NOS one from vert for half that including post LOL

there's some very nice bikes in the other thread. a few i haven't had the pleasure in seeing before, which is nice.
84profile
I think that price is a one off...a much more common price range would seem to be between $75 - 100...Particularly in used condition...
proline2
i'd say you are right, 84profile. i bought 2 nice ones from a fella on here for 200aus including postage. they really aren't that rare to justify that sort of price. i'm just really glad i'm not into hutchs LOL
Kurt.
Bought that Rebel Yell mag today - what a great bit of work. Plenty of old school respect there.

Great contributions from respected Aussie VBMX members too.
QuicksilverBMX
yeah i bought that mag too, a great read and congrats to all the old school guys involved!
proline2
anything here you guys need let me know.

Check out this little gem I just scored. Suntour made Mongoose stamp seat post clamp.

84profile
Looks awesome....where did you manage to score that one?
broke L345
was that the one on ebay?
www.martin-bike.com
Yes. From Ken Paliska.
AndyDiamond
He has good prices.
AndyDiamond
He has good prices.
www.martin-bike.com
He has but I've noticed them creeping up lately. Still, I did get a chrome Skyway TA XL frame set from him for $250.

Does anybody know when the XL was first released? I'm planning a build and am hoping it's 83 or earlier.

Ken is awesome, best person on ebay for international deals...straight as an arrow...

Loving the T/A's...I've got the decal set. Which seems to be the way all the builds start...once I've got the decal set I'm commited!

Unfortunately, at this point I know very little about them....
AndyDiamond
I got a set of gold NOS Araya 7Bs off him for $200.

T/A XL - not sure but later than the original I think.
AndyDiamond
Hey - did you guys see that news story about some 11 year old kid who has forced his school to lock him out?

Your usual Holden-driving white trash Aussie kid and AWOL parents - lol

Anyway, the little bugger was riding around on what appeared to be a early 80s Mongoose or Quicksilver...

Oh man, I almost forgot what Australia could be like. I've been away a loooong time.

LOL, I thought the hooded thug was the dude but ended up being his Mum!

He had a gold stem on it. He may be unpopular at school but he's going to get a lot of calls from people on this thread. LOL
www.martin-bike.com
Remember all the stolen bikes from BITD? I think I know where some of them may be . . .
ACGTO
Where they live is half way between my place and Geelong. Only about 20 minutes away. Might get myself a balaclava and duck over there tomorrow. I'll post pics when I get it. If he won't let go I'll just bring him with it!
ACGTO
On second thoughts I think I'll do it the legal way. They'd probably swap for a slab or packet of smokes anyway.
AndyDiamond
