Yep, Super L.A. Nice score! Made locally here in Brisbane by Graham Stevens. A colourfull character that was at the races around S/E Queensland. He made Super L.A(Super Light Alloy) He also made "Crisp Brothers Racing" and "TAJG". I think?
J.C know's him personally and was going to do a interveiw with him... THAT would make great reading!! Very interesting person. Super L.A's came in expert & pro sizes. There are cruisers too.

quote:i think that was pointed at me , proline i agree with what you are saying 100% . all i was trying to say was that i have boxes of bits here that i dont hold any real value to , i wouldnt throw them away but i dont use them at the same time ... and apart from the frame i could throw that bike together with the unused bits . thats were my thinking came from .
so to suggest people are stupid for paying that sort of money for it is wrong imo
as quick says basically a bike is only worth what someone is prepared to pay and what is worth a lot to someone might not be worth so much to others .
apologies for calling the high bidder silly

ozzy, your second sentence there sums it up completly. one man's trash is another man's treasure and he'll pay whatever to have it. the best of all is we each have our own likes and dislikes. what a boring world it would be if we all had the same ideas and tastes.
Jul 6 2007, 04:32 AM
Did someone say Super LA cruiser !!!!!
Jul 6 2007, 04:34 AM
Ok guys got this back today , i only left it off yesterday but my powdercoater is going on a 5 week holiday so he rushed it thru .... it cost me $15 more than usual ...$50 for white and candy ! the pic is taken with a flash and does the candy no justice .
due to the near impossibility to blend 2 powders i had to use a can of white epoxy and touch over a few red overspray dots and make the candy to white blend in look right , the end of the frame is still tacky , i have an epoxy clearcoat to finish it tomorrow then i'll put the frame stickers on .
im dead pleased with the results

Hey fellas - Hope to get down to watch the races at South East on Sunday - can anyone give me times and the address off the track?
Jul 6 2007, 05:31 AM
no worries Kurt... gate is supposed to drop at 10am, should be said and done by 1 or 2pm, look forward to saying g'day! http://tinyurl.com/2zlr6x
Jul 6 2007, 05:32 AM
Kurt the track is in Centre Road, South Oakleigh (Melways ref 78E2). Just near the corner of Centre and Warrigul Roads. At least I think it's Warrigual. I won't be racing (weak spine and rain) so give me a call on Sunday if you want. Bird's Eye View [ July 06, 2007, 07:34 AM: Message edited by: Jarvi ]

This is a new record for a plate. Previous record was a NOS lightning bolt plate in Redline colours for $500.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...61450&rd=1&rd=1

Weird plate, Oddly the "bob haro factory plates" wasn't part of those original plates, nor was BROWN available.
Looks like a home 'enhanced' jobber.
Jul 6 2007, 06:37 PM
I don't think so. It's one of the early plates. Original owner is the rider in this shot from the 1979 World Championships: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/mar..._Haroplate1.jpg
His father sold it as his son died suddenly last Christmas. [ July 06, 2007, 08:40 PM: Message edited by: www.martin-bike.com ]
Jul 6 2007, 06:44 PM
Bob Haro hand made custom number plates from ice cream tubs in the beginning. He sold them at races and to people he knew.
Jul 6 2007, 07:05 PM
i don't recall from any mag ads/pics/info the "bob haro factory plates" being on those 78/79 plates.
and BROWN isn't shown anywhere.
Jul 6 2007, 07:24 PM
Why don't you start a thread on the main forum and see what people come back with?
Jul 6 2007, 07:50 PM
no need for it.
Jul 6 2007, 08:45 PM
That is a genuine custom Bob Haro plate.
Bob got those Factory Plate decals run off at a copy shop and put them on by hand.
That is a pre-Haro Designs plate hence the value.
Bob said in an interview that he charged $5 for a custom made plate via mail order.
He got paid by cheque.
Problem was he didn't have a registered bank account set up for the name the cheques were made out to so he ended up with a pile of cheques he couldn't cash - lol
Jul 7 2007, 12:13 AM
I love haro plates, I remember owning a black and yellow one back in the day. that price is nuts, I love it!!!!also had one with yellow top red bottom and black face.

Jul 7 2007, 06:36 PM
Broke & possibly Ozzy
can't you cut & paste the Image HTML tags at either end of the photobucket URL using M$ 7 , to show a picture here ??
M$ is turning all their new & existing computer users who haven't wisened up , into an army of corporate drones & taken away their Freedom of Choice
Jul 7 2007, 06:58 PM
Here's a better looking picture of that Torker
Has waza shown his DG ?
Just a lucky hit there Waza , no wonder the US don't like sending stuff to us when , people like Waza go to so much trouble to make old skool BMX stuff look this good.
Jul 7 2007, 07:24 PM
Waza - that Torker is sweet!
Jul 7 2007, 07:42 PM
Thats Broke's Torker not mine

That Torker is HOT!!! Killer number plate and decals.
Are they blue Oakley 1s or Ame cams???
Jul 7 2007, 10:07 PM
both those bikes are mine. Thats the original chrome too but the decals are repro. The grips are oakleys, bought the decals (NOS) and made a bunch more.
JB I am honnored that you would put my DG up with the calibre of wazza's builds.
