I never thought the old moose would be worth $1500. That's GOOD money!! Enter Quote from "the castle" here......dreamin....
Jarvi
Here you go Roy, check out the result of this blue Viscount seat auction that just finished.
QuicksilverBMX
That Moose over here was passed in for $1500.
Even those 2 stock origonal Mooses that Luis bought went for $800 each.
Kurt.
Mooses. Worth the wait. LOL.

I'm with James too - love a white Redline.

Can anybody please date the following Kashimax seats in chronological order:

- Kashimax logo with drilled holes
- Kashimax logo without drilled holes
- MX logo without drilled holes

My guess is as above in that order with the first one coming out in 1980. Hope I'm wrong.

Kashimax Aero = 1981
Kurt.
Don't know Martin - my memories were of the "MX" as the definitive Kashimax. The others I have only seen in the last few years. Checking through BMXAs I haven't yet seen an Aero ad before '82.
www.martin-bike.com
Do you know when the first MXs were released?

I think I recall seeing an Aero ad in 81 - the cartoon one with the genie
Kurt.
I'll trawl back through my magazines and see what I can find Martin.
Cheers Kurt
Jarvi
MXs defintely came before the ones with the holes so I figure it would be MX, Kashimax without holes, Kashimax with holes. But the last two could be around the other way. I just figure they wouldn't have gone from not having holes to having holes to not having holes.
www.martin-bike.com
Cool Kurt, thanks!
www.martin-bike.com
My earliest recollection of a Kasimax in an ad was from 1980 - with the blue seat and chrome Tioga Rhino frame. That one had holes (I think). I'm straining here.
Jarvi
December 1980 BMX plus has an ad for the seat with the MX logo and small Kashimax below it. It's the one with the polished PK with blue parts. But then there is an ad later on for the Kashimax pads and it shows a seat with Kashimax and the holes drilled. Bike is a Flying Rhino.

There's also a Skyway ad with Denny Davidow sporting the MX logo in the BMX Plus from September 1980. Ad is also in the December 1980 edition.
Jarvi
Martin we were writing at the same time and referring to the same ad.
Jarvi
OK, on a roll here. April 1982 BMX Plus has a Kashimax ad with the Aero, and Kashimax with holes. I just assumed one replaced the other but doesn't appear that way.
proline2
i had a non hole kashi on my old quicky definatly before 1980. i'm not 100% sure if it had mx on it and my old pics arn't clear enough to see the logo. i know it was a non hole cause i craved a holed one LOL
i have an april 1980 bmxa with the same ad as jarvi's, a pk with a holed mx.
so i think it would go
kashi mx no holes
kashi mx with holes
kashi aero
www.martin-bike.com
Awesome guys.

To summarise from above:
- Kashimax non-holed: Pre-80
- MX holed: Apr-80
- MX non-holed: Sep-80
- MX with small Kashimax below: Dec-80
- Kashimax holed: Apr-82
- Aero: Apr-82
caferacer
Martin got my first kashimax mid 1979 and was a 2 holed mx stamped seat, still have it today. This was the seat you could get here around this time, do'nt remeber seeing the non holed seat even when i started racing a year before that.
The seats with holes below the kashimax logo where early 81 by the time they got to austraila, still have my first one of those to.
The first aero seat add in bmxa is the september 81 magazine.
Oh, one more thing after the 2 hole seats came the multi hole seats with no holes around the bottom.
Clear as mud right !
Jarvi
Just to clear up one thing, when I speak of holes I'm referring to the ones on the side, not the ones for 'ventilation' as the ads refer to them.
proline2
oh, i was talking about the holes on top, jarvi.
what caferacer wrote is basically what i remember as well. i've checked all my old pics and i still can't make out any seats in clear enough detail. damn that old Ricoh camera LOL
rsrichie

not the ones for 'ventilation' as the ads refer to them.
thank god for effective ventalation.
proline2
contrasting redlines. a 1983 and a 1979. the difference in weight between the two is quite substantial due mostly to the mx3 frame (redline drilled the BB and head tube for the 1983 frames) and alloy components.

AndyDiamond
I'm not 100% convinced about your Kashimax MX timeline but it sounds like your are on the right path.

lol

JB - I thought that logo on the Redline chain ring WAS 'bubble font'.
Not sure what you mean - is there a different sprocket before that one?

This what you want with a set of pincheless Flights.....
Looks nice eh?

www.martin-bike.com
What kind of chainring is that Andy?
proline2
martin, the one that dosn't require a chain, of course LOL.
i thought the bubble font is what waza has.
www.martin-bike.com
Yeah it does. the 42T chainring attached to the Phil spider. Looks hot. I have a Phil spider and I'm now inspired! I've seen Diamond Back Turbo chainrings like that but the one in Andy's shot doesn't have the DB Turbo stamp.
AndyDiamond
lol - yeah - no chain.
Not my bike.

Phil spider and that is most likely a Sugino chain ring.

Often referred to as 'Turbo Lite' chainrings as they came with the DB cranks.
They can look very cool with certain spiders, especially in smaller tooth sizes ie. on 24"s.
AndyDiamond
lol - posting at the same time - no Proline was say there is no 'chain' on the bike
www.martin-bike.com
Ok chain, not chainring.

Sugino = 110 BCD right? Standard?
www.martin-bike.com
Yeah Damon, clear as mud.
proline2
i have similar 42t chain ring on a dura ace crank set. obviously mines a shimano, but i'd say it's off a multi speed set.
proline2
here's a dodgy pic, but you can see what i'm on about.

AndyDiamond
I believe so - all Sugino and SunTour (and SR) chain rings are the same size for the bolts.

Do Phil spyders come in both bolt patterns (Takagai/Shimano and Sugino/SunTour)?
AndyDiamond
Yeah I also have a Shimano 42T like taht off a multi speed.
Nothing wrong with using them on BMX stuff.

Campy and Shimano 600 alloy cranks look great with those chain rings.

I've always been a fan of the Sugnio pattern but I quite like the way this Takagi looks with this Profile spyder on the Patty.

www.martin-bike.com
Weird, just when we were talking about it . . .

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...25765&rd=1&rd=1
www.martin-bike.com
Yes Andy, I'm pretty sure Phils came in both sizes.
84profile
Careful what you wish for...isn't that the saying!

I wish for a NOS complete Profile Pro Champ
prosight
84profile ill sell you a complete NOS PROFILE Champ PRO for the right cash.

AndyDiamond
I was just going to say, doesn't Chris have one?
mcam
Those Diamond Back chainrings are pretty easy to get. Rhaney has a bunch of them. I bought two off Chris Baron, and I'm running one on my GT Pro.

I've got a Sugino one in silver in the same pattern (42T) that I might chrome to put on the GT 24. I really like the minimalistic look of them.

Bitd, I had a 46T one, that I ran 46-17 on.

And yes, Phil spiders came in both sizes.
84profile
I was actually refering to a complete Champ Pro bike..ie with the Profile pedals, stem, hubs, cranks, bars etc...

If you have one of them it'll pay 1 miiiilllllion dollars....muuuhhhwaaaa

AndyDiamond
that be a TufNeck on that there bike you young whipper-snapper!
proline2
LOL @ Andy
84profile
That is correct Andy, the production models came with the profile stem...the above was proto type
prosight
It has NOS PROFILE CHAMP PRO F/F,seat post ,stem, hubs, bars, crankset, the only part it don't have is profile pedals. the shop sold them.....
mcam
So its for sale Chris? Be a nice buy for someone.

Did you ever ebay or sell those Gyrolite hubs you mentioned?
Jarvi
OK who is it? $10000 = lots of BMX stuff
84profile
Geez Chris, have you got a few pictures...in particular, do you have a shot of the bars? I picked up a set recently...they are freakin huge! Also, is it a Profile lock jaw stem?
www.martin-bike.com
I WISH it was me. LOL
Kurt.
Brisrocker?
www.martin-bike.com
I've got a couple of sets of Profile bars and they are a fairly standard size - not huge. If you remember the shot of my candy red looptail PK - that had Profile bars.
