Sometimes its a blessing to be away from your computer for a while

As far as the US goes, I have had all good dealings until last week, 2 already and now it looks like we have a 3rd on our hands. I might just get everything shipped to my brother in Canada
waza007
its ok Bully....... to get a .com.au domain name you HAVE to show you have a registered biz with a biz name that matches or is close enouigh for the registrars!!!
Mr.BMX
So, who's gonna start up a new business named "Sissy Enterprises" heheheh ;-)
AndyDiamond
ACGTO - that GT head tube decal is probably from around 86/87 - someone has replaced the original on ethat was on the 82 frame by the looks.

That Redline frame looks awesome - an 84 PL20 is an awesome score - lovely bikes.
And the parts on it look NOS - Sweet!

PS: the Bullseys on your Profile look to have blue centers - are you sure you haven't swapped the wheel sets around from teh GT and the profile?

Waza - I'm very impressed with that Goose.
For some reason those yellow Geese look the bomb - very subtle with the silver rims etc.
That thing cooks!

I should post a few pics.
Here's a dyed black Kashimax for you. Looks like a real one eh?
Used to be blue - you'd never be able to tell.

Also trying to clear up what the actual finish on the silver Tech III levers is - is it highly polished alloy or chrome?

And for ACGTO - here's my GT - it's an 84...
Kurt.
That seat looks great Andy - nice job. I'll post a pic sometime of that yellow DB seat. Now black too. I found I lost my lettering though - what brand dye did you use?

On the Dia Compe lever, I think they are anodised silver. Here's a pic of one of mine - bit later than yours but the same high shine finish originally. This is weathered and faded and used now ( this is a '90 model DC lever that I bought in '97).

Kurt.
Hey nice bikes guys too - ACGTO - you've done Roberto's frame well!

Stu - don't tease us with that DB Senior Pro - post some more pics! The finish looks excellent - have you had her rechromed?
Kurt.
Well we made it to 150 pages.

Here's hoping we can keep this thread from copping a bullet...

The old Australia thread ended up at 825 pages and 12,600 odd posts.
AndyDiamond
Yeah - I'm thinking highly polished too.

Kurt - bummer about losing the letters!
I din't dye it myself - too lazy - lol.
I got the seat from good guy Sandy.

Sure beats paying for one of these though:

Kurt.
Woah - not cheap. You're not wrong Andy - that's a better idea.

The prices of some stuff is amazing. My old DB used to have black Oakley .5s and a first gen Haro Series 1 plate on it - It'd cost me close to $500AU to replace just them - if I could find them available!
AndyDiamond
The ShotGun seats are very cool - just - ow!!!

Mind you that seller asks big bucks.

Black .5s - Martin got a deal on that set.

I have a stash of Oakleys coming.... no .5s though.
Whiffletree
Hey I hope you guys find this shameless advertising relevant to your interests:

http://www.vintagebmx.com/cgi-bin/ultimate...ic;f=6;t=025791

And just out of interest, does anyone have any idea what those black bars are with the MX 121 pad cover? I got the pad cover with the 2 bars so am only assuming they go together...

Cheers.
Jet Black
Can I dip into the box & grap that Tuff neck &
let everyone else fight over those Cook Bros handlebars etc etc.

I got a thing for sharp cornered knee gouging goosenecks

JB
Whiffletree
Mister Black,
That's the second offer I've had for the Tuf Neck stem already. I'll wait a few days to see if I can sell the whole lot in one go, then I'll start selling bits off individually I guess.

In the meantime, you're welcome (and everyone else, for that matter) to PM me with offers either for individual parts or the whole lot (end thread hijack )

Peace.
84profile
Hey Kurt, Hopefully over the weekend I will get some good shots of it complete. I didn't want to post a non-complete bike (no chain) cause we all know where that goes...ha ha joke joke...

It as been re-chromed...basically all NOS bits...I'm very happy with my first 95% OEM build...no radial lacing for a change! Dam getting even quality basic lower end nos parts is getting hard not to mention expensive...

Should get some photo's up soon.

ACGTO
Andy, The rims on the Profile in that pic are on the GT now. The profile now has chrome rims with polished bullseyes.

Nice GT too. I'm starting my Chrome one tonight.

With that Redline are these the correct stickers?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...21153&rd=1&rd=1
AndyDiamond
Nope - those are for the 24"...

They look similar though.
ACGTO
those had pl20 on them though. They're not the older style like Martin's bike that I should be using are they?
HowardinOz
Pretty sure those levers are just polished.
Silver anno isn't that shiny and they never had the know how to chrome Al in those days...as far as I know.
AndyDiamond
Yeah well remember the MX2 lever/MX1000/Hinged clamp all came in chrome?
that was before the Tech III.....

hmmmm

ACGTO - I'm not the PL20 Expert but the decals that Martin has are about two versions before the ones you want (which are black and grey with a red Redline logo).

I know this is off topic but there are a few aussie muscle car heads around here. I am getting in touch with my inner bogan and am looking for a paticular car just thought I'd throw a line out here too.

I am after a FORD XC BATHURST COBRA.... any leads from anywhere would be appreciated. Sorry for going off topic.
COASTY
My mx 1000's are chromed. I have polished brake levers and chromed ones and that tech 3 looks chromed to me.
I'm glad I don't have to replace the shotgun seats on my geese!! Man thats crazy money.
All the bikes are lookin good guys.
QuicksilverBMX
a small score to add to th epile....

Kurt.
Nice pick up Reece. I just recently picked up a set of those 600EX cranks for my JMC.
84profile
"inner bogan" ...that's gold....I remember the old XC cobra two fat stripes, bathurst globes...sweet coupe shape...awesome bogan fix

...Speaking of bogan, I was tried to quench my own bogan demons and checked out a new R8 Maloo.. just couldn't get myself past the cr@p build quality..so I bought a RB Liberty instead (very mature) oh no did I just say the word mature...back to the bmx bikes, and dice valve caps...ah that's better

broke L345 at to min im trying to get a LANDAU and a JOHN GOSS off this old guy

speaking of old cars...who saw the $500,0000 GTHO sold at auction this week!!
QuicksilverBMX
I'm done with doing up old cars, i;ve done a few in my time but i'm over it. I still have a few bits n pieces from those days but I really like the osbmx thing a lot more. The people are nicer, the bikes are easier to build and the finished product I find more rewarding but then again that just MY opinion.
waza007
Being an ex car and truck mechanic im well and truly over the car thing!!. back then i had soo much NOS car parts wish i'd kept them after seeing the recent prices. Still have the first 30 years worth of original Holden workshop manuals here.

Much prefer the bmx's as im soooooo over the smell of "old diff" oil!!!!!!!!!!
broke L345
hey profile,

there was a gtho that went for 690,000 2 weeks ago and the one that went this week was 750,000.

Chris, I love the john Goss special too, and I know of a Landau coupe with only 15,000 on the clock. good luck to you on those.

hey Quicksilver,
we've had chevs and monaros but had to get rid of them to buy a home. Now we are ready to get toys again.
prosight
the GT HO that sold this week monday the 4th at shanons auctions went for $525,000 have a look at the shanons site. it's allways a good site to look at to see what cars are getting..

wholey cr@p $750,000, that is out of control...I thought is was mid $5's ...but I probably wasn't listening properly...makes you think a $100,000 a9X might be a good investment!

Also makes a $300 set of NOS DX pedals, sound like a positive bargin!

I'm hearing you waza, old diff oil smell and getting old gearbox grime out of your eye's....nah give me hadley bottom bracket any day!!!
Mr.BMX
Hmmm, those car prices are right up there with Hutch stuff ;-)
caferacer
84profiler you should of got the r8, bikes go in the back better !
The old D.B is looking good, not into D.B's but looking forward to seeing it in its fininished state.
But really , let the inner bogan out !
84profile
Damon, thanks mate...I should have some DB photo's up over the weekend....

I got a Spec B...but it is a wagon, so the bikes won't get cold in the back of the ute :-) ...and been down the HSV thing before, and I love em...until they sh$t themselves...

Give me a couple of minutes and I'll show you some of my best bogan moments....

BOGAN AGGRESSION !
No Echo helmets not made to be used for motorized use !
Visor optional !
84profile
Yup, pretty sure we did not have any secrutineering that day! Leroy had to pull his visor risor off cause it was rubbing on the roof lining...ah thems were the days!
Bradster
Mmm Mazda RX-2 Capella eh' I'm guessing a B/P 13B up front, 4.4 diff etc!! Yeah had a few of those horrible rotaries in my day also!
HowardinOz
Heading for the States on Monday...I'll be checking out the car scene whilst I'm there.
The car scene has changed sooo much over the years. I put a new 'computer' (replaced the 98 model for a 2002...twice the processor speed) in my Burb recently and I control the fueling and..well..everything from my laptop sitting on the passengers seat whilst tuning for the supercharger.
I might try to pick up one of those new PK's whilst I'm in the US as well.....NOT!!!!!

Bradster, you are very close to the money....12a J port, 51mm webber, 4.4 diff....worst fuel fuel run 130k's out of 60 litres...cause it was all about the flames! :-)

But yeah as howard said, how much has it changed...most of your stocko cars would probably run down the quarter in the same time!!
OZZYBMX
nevermind the old muscle and new big engined cars , the ozzys STI pushin 230kw at the 4 WHEELS is the BOMB !!!

just a thought , if this one gets kicked for repeated stupidity , what will we call it ?

Is there still people in Australia ? (hope my capitals are right marty)

Our NZ brethern need to get on the defence here !

youv'e been NEGGED over one idiot !
AndyDiamond
OK - let's keep the cars out of it - you should all be taking the bus these days anyway.

Besides, there are enough dick-head boy racers here in NZ with fat exausts on their mum's Nissan Pulsars - it's enough to make you puke - lol

Ozzy - yeah - you know how it goes - one negative experience and everyone gets written off.
I think it's all settled down
Jarvi
Talking about cars, a very good friend of mine gave me a great birthday present. Driving a V8 supercar about Calder raceway. Will wait for better weather and can hardly wait.

A few pages back when I posted the photos with my old bikes I mentioned I broke my nose. Here's a photo of my first broken bone and like the others, happened on a bike. And no laughing at the PJs.

This next one is proof that BMX and girls jeans was a fashion trend way back in the early 80s. Probably the first weekend we picked up our golden retriever named Hannah. She lived the life of royalty for about 14 years. Our neighbours had a pet bird and it used to call out to the dog just like we did. Probably confused the hell out of the dog.

Forgot to mention, Andy, no comments on the hair all right? My mother has a lot to answer for and I'm still having a go at her about some of the choices. eg the PJs, cause everyone knows orange PJs don't go with a red and blue bedspread.

Good to hear its sorted andy , i said on a post that there should be a CODE when asking other BMX'ers to post internationally , tell them your vbmx name and let them check up (them being vbmxers too). there is a lot of once up guys out there who want to build their ONE old bike , who will be nasty over slow postage and stuff .

Nice Jammys James. I had some that had flowers on them. Gotta love the 60's. Same haircut too!
In fact I had a shirt with that print on it too.
