Hey Martin - I think I found your gold DiaCompe seat clamp.

It got transferred via hyperspace and ended up coming out of Earl's a$s - he's currently selling it for $125 USD on bay now (Earl's Stuff).

The only stickers I have are still on the frame.
The cruiser one on the top tube.
I'll have a look through the old pics, during the week, I might be able to see what other stickers were on it? I sure the stickers came off when it got home from the shop.

Jarvi
Well I'm back and have worked my way through the 4092 emails I received. 4000 were probably junk but still has to be scanned. Thanks for the birthday wishes, even though I spent the day without friends or family I will not forget it. Getting up at 1:40am to catch a bus up a volcano to see the sunrise then jumping on a mountain bike and screaming down the longest paved road over the biggest elevation drop was pretty cool. Hairain turns, disk brakes starting to smell and great scenery. Here's one of the many photos I took a sunrise. Kind of bike related as it was the only day I got to ride.

While I was waiting in the bike shop I noticed the glass cabinet with a few old parts in there. Really hoped there would be a box with Shimano DX on it but instead there was only a Tioga Beartrap headset and a bottom bracket. Didn't bother with them as my luggage was already over the weight limit. No other scores except for those I found on the beaches. There were plenty of great 20-30 year old parts lying around...

Anyone recognise this beach?

Happy birthday James. Glad you came back in one piece and had a good one. Nope, don't know that beach but wish I was there right now . .
OldSkoolRoy
That's a cool photo jarvi!! I don't know the beach ,but that first pic is awesome. Sounds like you had fun.
COASTY
Sounds like you had a great time james. Love the beach, and I have no idea where it is. That first pic is really cool.
Mr.BMX
The 1st pic looks like something Matt Hoffman would (& could) jump hahahaha.

Hey jarvi, i've also collected some 20-30 year old pieces from the beach too, but sooner or later i gave them back ;-)
Kurt.
Welcome back James - pleased you had a good trip.

Is that beach from McHales Navy or Operation Petticoat?
QuicksilverBMX
Just a little heads up on paypal.

I bought an item from ebay in the US, the seller would not send to a Post office box (why, i still dont know) anyway he refunded my money 6 days ago. I still dont have my money and his relisted auction finishes tomorrow. Now if it was $50 I wouldnt give a stuff, but its over $800 and I when contacted paypal all I got was a steaming pile of jack basically saying, sit tight.

the money is in pending until paypal decides I can have my money back. I will think twice now before making any high price purchases through paypal again.

Jarvi
I'm disappointed. Perhaps this might help trigger some memories.

Reece, not sure why Paypal are draggin their feet however one reason people won't deliver to PO Boxes is because it's an easy way for people to use stolen identities and buy stuff without having to provide a physical address to get the goods.
Mr.BMX
Reece,
I've noticed a pattern with paypal refunds...
Basically, paypal will credit the money back to "where" it was sourced from.

e.g
1) if you had $800 sitting in your paypal account already, it should return there immediately.

2) if you had to transfer $800 from a bank/credit card into paypal when you made the $800 payment, then it will need to be credited back into your bank/card....
This will take 5-7 days, although i always find it's closer to the 7 day period.

It's strange that making a paypal payment off a credcard appears immediately in netbanking as a debit, and yet it takes 7 days to return.

Speaking of all this, has anyone noticed that when you paypal from your credcard that it seems to double-dip your account?
If i pay $100 from my credcard, i can instantly see with my netbankjing that $100 has been debited, then 1-3 days later i see an EXTRA $100 has been debited off my card, then 3+ days later it re-appears again.

So in fact my account is in debt $100, then $200, then $100 again.....
The bank tried to explain why this happens, but it doesnt make sense, and it's a pain in the butt when you go to make another payment for something and can't because you're in debt for a few days.

Weird !
ROBERTO
I don't recognise the beach but I do recognise the guy on the right..... you look a little different with the moustache there James.

The cammo shorts suit you, did you purchase them from SE?
Mr.BMX
In a day when shorts were short ;-)
teamharo
Hey Mr BMX, I still have that WIN stem if you want it. $30us Email me and I can drop it off next week. John
ACGTO
Mr. BMX, glad you noticed that with the credit cards too. I just about fell over the other day after making a few purchases. All of a sudden I was $2500 over my limit. It's just all balanced out today.
Mr.BMX
Hey John,
Put the stem back on ebay and i'll buy it for 99c
There's no way i can justify $30US for a stem you got for $1 and were happy to offload for 99c on ebay or $5 max.
Mr.BMX
Yeh ACGTO, it's a bit scary huh? finding everything gone the next morning.
The worst thing is trying to make payment to impatient sellers, as you try to explain you're waiting for your card to go back into credit again....

Ok, name this show from the 70s and I'll be impressed. Cavemen with perfect English. Starts with "K".
bullyhotrod86jh
haha, A-team, anybody remember the episode with the mid 80's performer single bent dt think it was, where think it was Murdock being chased on it? Duke of something forest, or something like that, was to do with a mining town they were buying up.
ah just did a google.
The Duke Of Whispering Pines
quote:
B.A.'s old college rival Jason Duke (Rick Fitts), now a bank employee, turns up missing. Despite his reluctance, B.A. (Mr. T.) agrees to look for Duke at the request of Jason's wife Debra (Sheila DeWindt), who happens to be B.A.'s former girlfriend. This assignment obliges the A-Team to descened upon Whispering Pines, Arizona, where virtually everyone in town is an accomplice in a scheme to steal gold from a nearby mine. Making matters worse, both Face (Dirk Benedict) and Murdock (Dwight Schultz) try to use the same "con" on the bad guys, neatly cancelling each other out--and nearly getting themselves killed in the process! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Does anyone have a spare/trade/saleable 17T clip on sprocket for a set of steel flanged Tuff II's , Suntour Hub , or is it something I can still buy from the unfriendly lbs at whatever price they feel like charging at the time ?

I have a shiny 15mm sugino crank bolt & a metal end cap for a pedal I think to trade.
I'm not too sure how hard a Sugino crank bolt or this pedal endcap (brand unknown) are to find now ?

The skull I recently acquired & 15mm Sugino spanner that I bought new when working at the bike shop in 81 are not up for sale....

Thanks for any info or help in getting a 17T sprocket that will fit onto the old Tuff II's freewheel hub tho
