OZZYBMX
hey guys been flat out working and moving house in between times . got my adsl2 transfered to new hoose and sorted now .

by the way USPS is the cheapest way to move stuff from the US , UPS is more expensive . anything less than 1kg can be sent here from the USA for $10 USPS PROIRITY , frame and forks cost $55 .
Kurt.
Thanks for all the advice on postage guys. Definitely USPS is the favoured carrier. Thanks in particular to Jarvi for a really helpful PM.

I'm all sorted now and the frame and forks will shortly be on the way to it's US postal address.

We'll soon have another Aussie Moosegoose build on the way!
AndyDiamond
Ahhh - that's what old school BMX is about - making as much Ca$h as possible.
www.martin-bike.com
Yeah Chris, what Andy said!!! What ever happened to "bro" deals in Australia???
prosight
LOL.........they are going on the bay to be fair to the guys that have been trying to buy them from the US and UK so if i sell to one guy the others will not like it so it's fair for all to bay them.....and as i have NOT had a beer with any of them as a BRO why would i do a deal for one and not the other...JUST BEEN FAIR TO ALL
www.martin-bike.com
Fair enough! Are you going to list them soon?
AndyDiamond
and FAIR TO YOUR WALLET - lol
Mr.BMX
C'mon guys, be greatful that such rare parts are being made 'reachable' to you.
IF you're gonna start hassling someone about "making money" out of oldschool, then you better start bashin' EVERYONE here.

I think the real problem is that people won't accept that they can't 'get a score' for a few measley bux, and obviously want to bring the price right down to suit themselves without any consideration for the sellers needs.

Do you really think people are gonna let go of some elite parts for $50 when it can fetch $100's (or $1000's) on a public market ?????

Whats wrong with taking care of your own wallet? how many guys here would turn down some big bux, so they can pay bills, feed the kids, build a new ride or finally be able to afford an elusive part.
(the very same reasons that most of you guys mention over & over in this forum)

Do you *REALLY* believe anyone would offer a mate (even a best mate) something for $50, when they know it sells for 10 times that amount?

The simple rule is "You want it, or you dont, you can afford it, or you can't"
AndyDiamond
LOL

Of course most of us would sell rare parts to make some big cash - gotta finance those builds somehow right?

I love the way Prosight dangles his naughty bits in front of you and then swipes them away - LOL

BTW: I have been in many situations where myself or mates have found pretty decent stuff and given it to or swapped with each other.
Everything from Hutch pedals to Mathauser brake pads.
Sometimes, if you got it for cheap you can afford to let it go for cheap too.

What can happen is some guys find and hoard a bunch of stuff and flick it on at huge prices.
Call it 'business' or 'smart' but I think there is a line to be drawn.
OldSkoolRoy
Do you *REALLY* believe anyone would offer a mate (even a best mate) something for $50, when they know it sells for 10 times that amount?

?????????????

We do it all the time...don't we? I gave a set of hutch pedals to a mate because he had a hutch. I swaped a hutch stem for other stuff. I knew it was worth heaps but he wanted it....so i did. I gave bully hotrod a goldstem cause i had 3 and he was building a goose. I don't ask anything for restoring tuffs, maybe trade a few bits, but if not, free!! No biggy...I only do it cause almost everyone on here that i've met has shown me the same kindness. People in the bmx community are unreal!!! I swaped a yellow addics seat clamp to a bloke cause he was serching for one. He gave me a no name seat clamp as trade...but seeing how stoked he was to have it was just the best.
I'd like to say thankyou to all those that have helped me out, and there's been a lot of you. I've been trying to repay your kindness by passing it on to others when i can. Freestyler ,Micoz, Reece ,Wazza, Seva, Roberto, Jay, Bullyhotrod, Glen etc. etc. the list would be endless. Thankyou for showing me your side of collecting. I love ya's all.

Mr.BMX
As a collector of many genre's, (yes, i dabble with far more than just bmx stuff) i think you'd need to understand that all collectors out there often find things for free or $1, yet will sell it at "market value" which fluctuates hourly.....

If you found some aerospeed cranks in box for $50, would you really let it go on ebay (or to a mate) for $100? $200? $500? no way!!! you'd let ebay set the price by the buyers who WANT the cranks, and obviously it goes to $2000+
Sometimes i sell bullseye hubs for only $100, other times i get $400, depends who NEEDS them the most at the time of sale....

I know of many guys in this forum who scored hubs, wheels, cranks and even GHP bars for bugger all, and they listed on ebay with 'start prices' set at $300-$500.......surely i'm ringing a few bells here with a lot of people who sell ;-) I hope you don't have anything against everyone in here and there ebay dealings?... i recall some of your stuff starting at very ambitious prices, but i guess thats ok if you want to up the $ for yourself, as long as no-one else does it back to you? ;-)

What many people suffer is a "seller-buyer conflict", you want to buy everything for $1, and sell everything for $500+, and if EITHER one of them doesn't suit you then it must be wrong????? ;-)

Surely you're aware that everyone starts ebaying off their stuff a month before rockford because they know items will sell for a far higher price than the rest of the year........is that wrong? unfair? bad practice? or just excellent business sense?

Depends which side of the line you look at the whole scenario from, but in either case, someone will always cry over a bad deal coz they couldnt buy it for $1 or couldn't sell it for $1000 ;-)

At the end of the day, some people WILL pay for the item, and some people WON'T pay that much....you just gotta work out which person you are ;-)
rsrichie
mmmmmmmmm Front brake levers should be on the right! LOL
Mr.BMX
Roy, it *can* work both was as an EVEN trade deal, $-for-$ value, i totally agree with you there, no probs with that.....
I can also see the 'unbalanced' trades work too, sometimes a 1/2 used crankset is worth a nos part, depending how much you need to part, or just wanna throw out parts you dont use, so 'anything' is accepted as trade....

The main concern above is more about someone wanting to sell an item on ebay rather than offer it for far less to a mate....It seems some buyers think they have 'right' to demand the part rather than let it go public.

Keep me posted when you get hold of some aerospeeds, i'll be right over with $50 for ya Roy ;-)
And if you dont want cash, i'll bring over some seatclamps instead.
Mr.BMX
brake levers belong on the headstem
QuicksilverBMX
I have done several "BRO" deals on here with the other aussies guys.

The way i see it - If i need $$ to help complete a build, i stick parts on ebay.

If I can help someone out when i dont need the bucks, I will. I sent a mongoose frame to Jamie in Japan for free because he needed one and I had one. I gave roy a crisp f/f for restoring some tuffs wheels for me, he really wanted one so I sent it to him. i have done other deals as well and must say a lot of waza's generosity has rubbed off on me, that guy and his collection is inspirational!

As the old saying goes, there is a time and a place for everything.
Mr.BMX
The topic has strayed somewhat and most of you missed the original point.

Nothing wrong with bro deals and giving stuff away, being generous and sharing and all that, but that is all an entirely a different point you're making.
COASTY
Guys guys, we're supposed to be here for these bikes and the memories. How we get them is a different story for everyone. I'm a bottom feeder and get MOST of my bits for very little or through "bro" trades.
I have a subscription to the WAZA catalogue. The mans a saint. I can't thank him enough. I have recieved parts from most of you guys for nothin or very little. If I can repay the favour I will.
Chris has something a bunch of guys all over the world want. If he pulls a bro deal for someone after refusing it to 3-4 others overseas, he becomes a *** to them and kills his future business deals.
It's a tough call but I can see where he's comin from.
Now go outside and ride a bike to clear your head.
Rant over
rsrichie
and the rear brake leaver goes on the left!
COASTY
I have a coaster brake !
rsrichie
That must be a big mod to fit Toyota Coaster brakes to a Pushy bet it stops well though.
prosight
Thanks COASTY and MR BMX at least some people can see my point..

I have had plenty of BRO deals that have worked in both parties favour mostly from oversea's. But it is hard to do trades when there is nothing i need. As i am not building bikes anymore. As i have retired from this hobby..

If i was prosights' position, i'd ebay it all as well.
waza007
But im NOT, so i wont be doing that ..... LOL

If was you, I wouldnt be me.
waza007
Prosight, when will you be listing those Profile hubs?

Everyone ebays' when they need to, and most people do bro deals when they can.

Gotta agree with all of the above points!
All depends on what you're in it for.
Coasty..when you said 'bottom feeder' I pictured a gummy shark! Lol!
I'm still working on building my PK's and the 'Oddy' but the Oddy's for my wife and the PK's...I've decided the kids can do with them what they like.
My Son's really got into riding his BMX of late and has moved ahead in leaps and bounds. I just enjoy watching him. That's it for me now.
I'm waiting for some parts...but I'll wait as long as it takes In the meantime...I'll use 'cheap and nasty' if that means I can get it rolling.
I'll keep lurking and posting on occasion but I'm pretty much done with it all. I have much more serious 'issues' to deal with in my life at present.
Good luck on the sale Chris.

Wow, I've been so busy with super cool Windows Vista that I missed all this.

For the record, I haven't made 1 cent from anything I have ever sold. I have always sold it for what I paid for it - that includes a few of you on here.

I'm not saying give it away but I know what the market price is and I'm willing to pay it - keep it in the family when you can, if you can.

Bottom line . . . I JUST WANT THOSE HUBS!!! LOL
www.martin-bike.com
Check out Vista and an eBay Gadget . . . never far away from auctions now . . .

Screen 1: The whole kit and caboodle with Windows Aero in full stride

Screen 2: eBay Gadget showing however many auctions you want live and then cycling through the list of watched auctions like a slideshow. The weather Gadget at the top is cool.

Notice the yellow post it note - says "Get Profile Gyrolite hubs" . . . then my fortune cookie (changes every time) says "Luck is coming your way". I think I'm going to win those hubs!!!

bullyhotrod86jh
ah, vista, the latest microsoft virus. hehe.

hehe, yeah Roy, definitely a great thing about bmx having people like you.

yeah great episode there rsrichie, see that link Steingrabber pulled at the end after his run? far out

LOL - Vista - finally catching up with MacOSX and adding lots of nice things like 'copy protection on everything'.
rsrichie
Bully i was there when steingrabber put that together it took many attempts but when he got it, it was the sweetest looking display i had ever seen shame he couldnt pull it off in the comp.

VISTA-BITES !!! wot an absolute load of micro$oft BS marketing, selling you something you already have....sheesh !

Waaay off topic , but , if you want to keep control over your combination M$ operating system virus spyware machines & use them on the internet securely , Windows 89SE & Windows 2000 are the way to go.

If you have no modem or any type of internet connection available then XP & Vista are reasonably safe , but I can't give you a 100% guarantee that they will be secure.

It's almost time to finally choose a what flavour Linux I'll be running with , soon.

Vista is cool. Lots of colours and contrast like an early 80s BMX. LOL
