Hey Austrailian guys, I might be visiting your country next year. I won't be able to bring a bike, but I might pack the skateboard. Are there good parks over there? I will be in Sydney. Perhaps someone could post a link to some stuff. Most of the time I'll be with my girlfriend.
COASTY
Aug 26 2005, 04:12 PM
Hi David. Most of the good skateparks are near the beach areas around Sydney. This link is to one of the best. If your staying close to the city, most are easily accesible by public transport and car. There are quite a lot of parks around the west of Sydney. Depends on how far your willing to travel.

My girl is speaking at a vetrinary conference there, I am vacationing. We hope to travel some after the conference, but I don't know how much money will allow. I hope to skate and do things she wouldn't be into while she is working.
Thanks for the link.

Ok, so i'm flicking through my treasured copy of Tim Hall's book Bmx downunder, and I come across this pic that I had never noticed was a dude on a Kos Kruiser. I think the patches on his sleeve read:
Lalor (?) Centre Victoria's No1 BMX Track. So does anybody know this fella? Steve ?

The B-52 kos kruiser was Kenny Nachman's bike back when there were several mongoose tours in 1980/81 here.
The B-52 Kruiser ended up being donated? to Alan Dorman (NBA Aus Boss) to avoid luggin it back to USA.
I also recall the B-52 was the "shared cruiser" for anyone that wanted to race in cruiser class but didnt have one (or broke theirs), well at least amongst the senior/pro guys anyway....i don't believe just anyone could ride it ;-)
i *think* the 'steve' riding is Steve Townsend who was into (or became) mongoose team sometime later.
Could also be Steve Cassap?
What does Steve/Katie have to say about this ????

PETE PORKER & TREV .......
Can u guys provide some more detailed info about the upcoming bikeshow in November????
Has anyone checked how big the clubroom is? and how many people & bikes it will contain?
We're either gonna have 3 guys with 20 bikes each, or 10 guys with 2 bikes each.
I really think you need to confirm who *is* going, and how many bikes they can take, or put a limit depending on the numbers of people attending.
You should at least indicate in this forum (or email all the aussie members) so we all know whats going on.
This show has potential to become a huge FU*KUP unless we start THINKING about the finer details, before everyone starts to not turn up.....
Is everyone aware this race meet is a big meet? and that we should get there on friday to park your car close to the clubroom area, unless you wanna drag yer bikes 100's of metres to/from your car.
It's a large race-meet, and it's no use we turn up saturday morning/arvo to find out these inconveniences, trying to get setup by 2pm showtime.
Or, is there an internal area reserved for us to park cars near the clubroom???? what hours is this area accessable to us???
Will the clubroom be only for us? or do we need to allow officals/scorers/first aid/catering space too?
Is the clubroom completely empty?
Do we need to bring display tables? chairs? etc etc
Do we have any space outside the clubroom to setup outdoor displays if the room is too full??
Are there outside areas that we need to stay clear of, like the officals or pits areas etc? just so we know if we can setup anythiong outside the room if need be.
Guys, you *really* need to confirm some more details for everyone, as this 1st show could also be the last.
I've already heard things like "if they can't answer us, i'm not going"...
It's one thing to state a date & location, and it's another thing to do it properly !
Let's make this a great 1st Aussie show !!!!

Marty, just f ' chill out. It's 3 months away. This was meant to be a low stress get together for all here, sorry it's not happening to your expectations and up to the minute details, sorry that we put the word out about when and where before we had every particular minute detail that you could possibly think of. If you're going to start DEMANDING what YOU want, well maybe we should just all stay home.
And here's a few points you didn't think of that *somebody* here might need to know-
Will there be vegetarian food available ?
Will there be Coke or Pepsi on sale ?
Will there be name badges so people can find me ?
What time will i tell mum to pick me up ?

Guys,
I'm not heated up, no need to chill ;-)
it's not MY personal demands or 'need to know' questions, i was asking on behalf of 5 people who are concerend about space, amount of bikes, parking.
If the other members on this forum (and some who arent members yet) would like to ask questions that they've been asking me, then PLEASE ask away ;-)
Don't shoot the messenger hey???

Mr bmx
I will try to give you as much info as I can
yes I have seen the club rooms and they will hold between 60-80 bikes approx and about 20-30 people
there will be no limits put on how many bikes you bring but think of others who are coming you will need to have your own stands for the bikes you bring
there will be no rock star parking for us so you might have to walk/ride 100m to the club rooms
the club rooms will be for our GATHERING only on that day
we will try to have as much of club room for display/ talking as we possibly can yes there is an orning outside the clubrooms we can use and the club has tents they are putting up for us as well if you are local we would ask if you could bring your own chairs so that the people that are flying from interstate can use the clubs if you need a table for a display best you bring your own
displays will be in one certain are which will be marked out on the day
you need to keep the displays away from certain area such as
middle of the road
the pit area
starting gate
anywhere on the bmx race track
the finish area
first aid tent
scorers shed
in the canteen
and the toilets
I hope we have anwered all the above questions if anyone has any more questions private message me on this site or ring my mobile 0417684130 thanks trevor
