The problem with the BMX Stop decals is that they don't have the Proline II and most importantly, they are all incorrect in that they don't have the white outline.
COASTY
The first Proline Forks are straight legged and the dropouts have a hole in them. I'm trying to find a pic.
Proline I got one of those frames kickin around here somewhere. The whole backend was bent about 10deg to the left. That should look real nice when it's done.
www.martin-bike.com
Killer Mike!!!
proline2
hey mcam your GT's look nearly as good as my 4 wheeled one. nice set there mate.
COASTY
1980 Proline. Note forks
QuicksilverBMX
Mine says Proline 2 on the decal. Mine is unrestored, did they only come in chrome? I really want to do a white Proline but I am hesitant to ruin a survivor. I would swap my Chrome Proline II for a painted Proline 1.
OldSkoolRoy
Hey Glen....see those Redline forks....they're the same forks my Patterson came with when i was racing. I think Redline was selling forks to Patterson, and they were stickering them as Patterson.
Keep posting those GT and Redline picks........you guy's have some AWESOME bikes.
KOSY-MOTO
It's 24GT time!!!

Killer rides dudes...
OZZYBMX
hey roy , sorry to hear about the family stuff , i just read 10 pages and that is humbling . things can only get better bro .... how nice are the guys to build you that bike to cheer you up ! sensational thought by the JC crew . Best wishes for 2007 mate .
OZZYBMX
howard - the race inc ... i missed it . AND i was not the one asking to get it posted to adelaide . bloody $75 for that bike and local pick up .

i definately agree to a point that no one should tell the seller he has a valuable bike , people should just bid accordingly ..... BUT at least he let it run . sometimes the auction has been ended and the bike broken up into bits to get the mosts $$$$ .... thinking back to a very controversial US auction involving a HUTCH with the "old original cranks" and a very cheap BIN .... which the seller renaged on the sale and parted the bike up on advice of guy JUST LIKE THE ONE IN THIS CASE WHO SAID IT WAS VERY VALUABLE .
HowardinOz
You're right Oz!
The only time you get a bargain on fleabay now is when you know or see something someone else hasn't.
If they don't intend bidding, they should just shut the hell up!!!
people like that are just spiteful! It's the old "if I can't have it, I'm gonna make damn sure you don't get it either".
It was good of the guy to let it run. I was going to bid but I had a water leak inside a wall at home which dragged me away from the PC all morning.
Good luck to the winner. Absolutely THE biggest score of the year!!!
KOSY-MOTO
WOW did anybody see those DX pedals on evil-bay sold for $500USD. Was that you Martino who brought them?
HowardinOz
What???
$500.00???
Are you serious???
That is just plain NUTS!!!
I guess some people just have more money than sense.
KOSY-MOTO
OKAY What is wrong with you Melburn guys.. geezz which one of you nutters is selling that MotoMag on evil-bay?.. talk about jumping on de Band wagen!! Item number: 270069613024
QuicksilverBMX
I dont really want a Robinson but I might bid on it anyway

Can you get any lower than ZERO cred around here?
www.martin-bike.com
Nope wasn't me. Have my stash already.
AndyDiamond
Mike's just pushed the price of Rat Traps through the roof with those GT pics - lol
velocidad
yep, some very cool GT's guys, an inspiration for sure.

Hey - good to see you got a nice camera at last meatpie, show off some more of that chrome dude!
KOSY-MOTO
I was just thinking the same thing Andy.. I have a set in Blk (KKT's) the real deal ones..
proline2
$500 US for DX's...........hmm. i'll take $450 for mine cause the box isn't as pretty as that one LOL

Quicky, i have never seen a painted prolineII, only mxII's. this advertisement may help.
KOSY-MOTO
OKAY.. on the subject of painted frames do we know or have photos of GT-24 crica very early 80's been painted? ALSO what colours? Blks? Reds? Blues? etc.

Geezz Proline2: That PL-20 (pictured) would be worth afew bob!
proline2
hey luis, ask the guy that sniped me for all those bmx plus magazines last week on ebay LOL there should be some info in 25 issues hehe.
as for that redline the pads and seat are probably worth more than the rest of the bike put together. mate did you get my reply pm yesterday?
KOSY-MOTO
Proline2: which BMX plus mags?... I haven't brought any mags?? wrong dude.. DUDE!
KOSY-MOTO
as for pm's I haven't rec'd any for you? looks like Halie and Co. get to them b4 we do.. so watch out
proline2
oh no i didn't mean you mate, sorry if it came across that way. but i reckon you couldn't get any better reference material than the old magazines. there was a lot of 25 mags from 1981 til 1983 on ebay last week.
KOSY-MOTO
oh okay.. you have my email it's best you email me direct if you know wot-i-mean? yeah
www.martin-bike.com
Stu definitely rode a red painted Proline II.
proline2
where did you get that info from martin? note the date on this mag cover.
bullyhotrod86jh
just a thought, but maybe just maybe, it wasn't factory finish?
i don't know about the 80's with that, but atleast a lot of new school freestyle, you'll get there own bikes painted what colour they like, whether they get it professionally done or just spray bombed varies but, if that's the only real point of reference you have that Stu rode one.
I'm not exactly older enough, and can't be bothered checking it out, just thought i might point that out, incase it hasn't occurred to you.
www.martin-bike.com
I have that mag also along with many others showing Stu riding a chrome Proline. In 83 he rode white ones but he also had a red Proline II in 81 or early 82.

Let me dig out my sources and get back to you when I have time.
www.martin-bike.com
Some Stu replicas & a frame set. Will get data for you later. 3rd shot won Del Mar about 3 years back.

AndyDiamond
That bike is AWESOME.

Proline - I do those forks here to take pics of - the dropouts look a bit tweaked though >:/
proline2
very nice prolines, martin. i love that candy red. the info you have regarding painted frames will be good to see as it will contradict a lot of other information, meaning not all research is always correct. i'll welcome it.
andy, pm me mate and we'll get the ball rolling.
Mr.BMX
If it helps, i have an orig WHITE proline1 frame/fork (both white) 1980.
The frame looks same as a MX2 in design, same rear dropouts etc, just different geometry.

The forks have the long teardrop cutouts in them, and are NOT the same as patterson forks, as the patto's have a sharper curve (like GT) on the top of the forklegs.

Also note, i have a set of chrome proline2 (or later) forks for sale, i dont need them, $50 posted anywhere in OZ....they're in my way.

Enjoy!
Mattblack
July 1982 BMX Action and others in April addition.
www.martin-bike.com
Marty, you have a PM. Here are some earlier frames in candy red . . .

While we're at it, I always loved John Crews' ride - campy tuffs with that impossible to find aero plate

My next Redline build will be a Gregg Grubbs replica. We have been in contact and he sent me his 1982 Stu bars for the project - awesome.

www.martin-bike.com
Ok, this in an email I just received from Greg Grubbs:

"That bike looks great. Stu had a red one when I got on Redline. I have a black Brute stem if you can't find one. Summer in Sydney must be nice."

I'm waiting to hear back on when he signed on with Redline but I'm pretty sure it was 1982. This was not the source I was originally referring to but you can't get much better than an original Redline team member.

Gregg's comment was unsolicited. We discuss his replica build and I was showing him my candy red build and that was his comment back.

Will get conmfirmation on when he signed up soon and that will pin down the year of Stu's candy red Proline.

Just checked the history section of the official Redline site. Gregg Grubbs signed with Redline in January 1982. From the site under 1982:

"JAN - Redline signs-up Greg Grubbs; the fastest BMXer to ever come from Nebraska."

There's the proof. 1982 makes it a Proline II. I'll still chase down my other sources for collaboration.

Talking to Greg Grubbs must be pretty cool !!!
I remember Stu on a red Proline bitd....It wasn't for very long... I'd do anything to have that Proline at the back in the above pic!!!!!
OZZYBMX

Yep, it's a spin out. Here are some before and after shots of Gregg:

Before and after John Crews:

Kurt.
Awesome pics Martin. And that Proline of yours is looking unbelievable. Can't wait to see it finished.
Cheers Kurt
www.martin-bike.com
Thanks Kurt. I can't wait either. However, I mashed one of the decals and I don't have spares so it's going to have to wait a few months to complete when I am next in town.

It's a GT night tonight - 1982 in black and 1983 in chrome.
www.martin-bike.com
Also working on a black Hutch with Aerospeeds - this one is going to be different and sick.
