I was bored silly today so I played bikes with what I had lying around. It'll be my new esplanade cruiser when it's done. Need to re-nickel plate the microline bars (they're pretty bad) and chain, grips stickers .I'll change a few things first. Rear tire is too big. I'm lookin for a 1.75 Cheng shin knobby. Cranks will probably go for a 1 piece Takagi setup. I'm gonna put some tuff 1's on there too. Best bit is No brakes to buy. Coaster all the way baby! Oh and it's not an MX2. It's a later 440. Until an MX2 or proline turns up.
cheers

Sweet Glenn! I ride a coaster on my Moose but i'm having second thoughts, i think freewheel is better imo.
Kurt.
Looking good Glenn. How will you go with microline bars - bit skinny aren't they (got a set on the son's MXII). Tough looking rider mate.

Hey Piker - the baseball symbol means it was made in the Koizumi factory in Japan - same place that Kuwahara's and some others were made. Great quality workmanship.

Diamond Backs were made in the USA for only 6 months in 77/78 before going to full Japan production. Stayed that way till '84 when they went to Taiwan production. Any pre-84 DB is a quality unit, but IMO the Senior Pro's were the pick of them (basically all but identical to the Turbos). Unlike the tri-moly Silver Streaks (which are based on the Medium Pro geometry) they are big enough for those pushing 6' too. Great pick up.
KOSY-MOTO
WOW GlennO, that looks stealf!! love it but not sure about those cranks though?
broke L345
hey coasty,

who are you getting the skyway top from? I wouldn't mind getting one myself. Is it through color tuffs? hey, my rear 24" tuff arrived with a little buckle in it. Not too bad though, just enough to bother me.
KOSY-MOTO
ED from Skyway..
COASTY
Thanks boys. It'll look cool when I'm done. The microline bars were widened by 3 inches total bitd by my dad. I can take off the extensions maybe but then they will be small. Maybe they are prolines, No idea. They are unstamped and nickel plated.
Luis I put the cranks on over a year ago. I don't like them much(too new for me. But they were free so...The BB is brand new too. That was a pain to find.
Yeah Kurt the Skyways jerseys were advertised on here a month or so ago by Ed at Colored tuffs. There were only 20 available so I jumped on it. Personalised too! He did have a few on the site left over. Maybe shoot an email and try.

Someone got a BIG score!!!!
Gives me the sh1t$ when other A'Holes who have no intention of bidding inform the seller, thus lessening the chance of someone picking up a bargain. Why? If that guy didn't do his research, good luck to the winner.

OMG! That had to be the score of the year so far. Unbelievable.

This year my family has had alot of misfortune. My mum suffered a huge stroke...and is now paralized. I took imediate holidays to look after my dad. I was traveling backwards and forwards to look after my mum, dad and my own family. My family needed me at home so i came back to my wife and kids, and work. That's when i smashed my lower back and spent 4 weeks in bed until all the lower discs in my back stoped bulging and i could start physio. I came out the other side and got straight back to looking after my wife and kids, going to work, seeing my mum and ringing my dad every night. I'd travel as often as i could to pick up my dad (84y/o) and drive him up to see mum. My dad died on the 11/11/06 this year. I lost one of the best friends i'd ever known. To make things worse...my brother told me that he couldn't come down until after the new year to sprinkle dads ashes under the gum trees on his property. That's what dad wanted. Unknown to me, my brother came down last week and took EVERYTHING in mum and dads house. Nothing left. I can't even mow the place cause he even took the mower. The only thing left in the house is coat hangers. I didn't want any of my mum and dads things...but i can't understand why he would take the time (3 days) to come and move all that stuff...but not take the time to honour our farthers wishes.
Durring all this happening...some of the local Vintage bmxers got together to help me through a tough time.A little something to keep my chin up.
THEY BUILT ME A HUTCH!!!!!!!!
Everything has be polished, powder coated or is NOS. The bike is absalutely beautifull!!! It has awesome Johny Chopper bars and seat post, the powder coating and drop out repairs are brilliant and the parts and assembly of the bike is sooooo sweeeeeeeeeet!!!
I'm not to sure of all the guys involved in doing this....But i want to personally thank EVERYONE(you all know who you are) that had anything to do with this very very uplifting idea. I had to fight back the tears when Gary (Johny Chopper) presented me with this bike. I was speachless!! Here are some photo's of a bike that has to be the best bike in my whole collection....by a mile. No bike will ever be as good as this one because it was built from the hearts and kindness of some of the best blokes in BMX. I love this bike!!! Thankyou to you all!!!!!!!

Jarvi
Sure has been a rough one for you Roy and if I'd known what the guys were doing I would have gladly tried to help. Can't wait to see some photos of you out riding that beast.

Your brother might have taken everything however you still have your memories and they will be with you forever.
Kurt.
Shocking year Roy - words couldn't begin to describe it I'm guessing.

Those QLD guys have done a wonderful thing.

Hey - a whole new year is only two weeks away.

All the best mate.

Same from me too Roy. I really hope you and your family have a better new year than this last one.
Your right about our little Qland bunch of guys too. All the Aussie guys in fact. A better bunch of mates would be impossible to find. You deserve everything the boys have done for you Roy. The work you do at beenleigh proves that. Your a great inspiration to me to buddy. I wish I could ride half as good as you.
Well done boys. You all done good.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. You guys are AWESOME!! I can't beleive you people did that for me. I'm still pinching myself to see if i'm dreaming or not. I'm buying a loto ticket for chrismas. Knowing my luck, i'll win and lose the ticket. LOL. Just kidding...it's all good.
Does anyone know what sort of frame these drop-out's are from? The chrome ones near the yellow frame. They look familiar, but i can't remember.

It's been awhile. Just arrived back in Sydney and started on my next projects:

No Luis.
KOSY-MOTO
hehehe.. I thought we did?.. Anyways welcome back!.!.!

Nope, you definitely didn't. Added:

- frame & fork decals (I need to redo some)
- Suntour seatpost clamp
- Redline fluted seat post
- Dia Compe brakes
- Shimano DX lever
- Elina lightning bolt seat
- decals on the number plate
- Tange headset

Thanks, good to be back.

is that a respray/powder, cause i didn't think prolineII were available in red BITD. chrome only? nice set though. what wheels are you putting on it?
KOSY-MOTO
I have a Buntluck (spraycan) in that color.. You can also place your order: http://www.schleiper.com/index.cfm
It's called: Marabu Buntlack satin acrylic colour spray 300ml carmine

That was colour matched to a set of v-bars. Yes they were available in that colour - Stu rode one.

I've got some rare Suntour Superbe hubs - Redline Team spec and chrome Ukai rims.
www.martin-bike.com
It's not a Proline II. If I'm not mistaken the II had the extra gusset behind the seat clamp and a reinforced small tube behind the BB shell.

The original Proline/Carrera didn't have these features but had the same newer square decals compared to the 1980/81 Prolines.
meatpie
Your GT looks sick Martin..... I'm going to do my GT24 that colour..... As you already know i'm doing a chrome 20" atm

Scotty
www.martin-bike.com
Gorgeous chrome Scotty!
QuicksilverBMX
If it isnt a PL2 martin its got PL2 forks. They are tapered. the first Prolines had different forks. Also I thought Proline 1's had the old font decals. I have a Proline 2 and it has the same decals and forks as yours.
Mattblack
If where showing GT's
COASTY
Wow thats real nice Rohan. Love that a lot. I'm liking all these prolines too. I gotta find me one of them.
www.martin-bike.com
It's definitely a Proline and it's definitely 82. I'm pretty sure Redline made 3 version in 3 years. I'm just not convinced it's a II as it doesn't have the extra gusset. Does yours say Proline II Quickie?

Nice GT Matt!
proline2
ok. that prolineII in Quicky's pic is an early model probably 81/82 due to no brace behind the BB. after that they put a brace behind the BB between the chainstays. these were still prolineII's if bought as a frame set. if they were bought as a complete bike (chrome only people) then they were a carrerer PL-II. Quicksilver is correct in saying the old prolines (1980 and earlier) had different stickers.
COASTY
I think you got it Proline.
These are the decals from BMXSTOP. I guess they would know.
80 proline

81 Carrera

my son helped me attach a sticker kit to this today. 1990 something full cromo and longer by an inch than my prolineII. very nice set that should be completed soon.
www.martin-bike.com
Yep, agree on most counts - but you mean Carrerra right?

Ok, I have an early Proline II like Quickie then. I need to dig out the literature I sourced on this.
mcam
Ok, enough of Redlines...LOL

Did someone say GT?

proline2
yep. there they are coast. only real prob with that PL-II set is they don't have the correct 3 colours, which make em look like crap on a chrome frame.
