Jarvi
Howard, as long as I stuck to back flips and not front flips I should be all right. Going forwards and landing on my head and shoulders is my problem. Well actually not the only problem but I don't want to give too much away.

Anyone got an empty pool and a heap of mattresses?
bullyhotrod86jh

haha those are pretty whacky with that pully and cable type mechanism they use, anyone know much about those, i got told about how supposably a hardware store bought a container load over, but they never sold that was what i was was told by a guy fromracing that has one, when he bought it one week.
looks like you's had a good time there, some of those bikes shure look nice.
by the way there was atleast 273 racers at the renee junga benefit day on saturday, it seem to go alright minus a couple mishapps like one girl went down pretty bad fairly early in to the racin, was an ambulance job, so that set it back a bit, i hope she's alright though, i wasn't quite sure what happened. there was roughly 10000 donated to Renee during the presentation
Jarvi
Unfortunately no-one had their camera out when Trevor was riding that bike around the track. Was good for a laugh.

prosight

bullyhotrod86jh
for some reason i thought it might have been a diamdbackor, tiapan or apollo, haha, maybe check the serial if possible, any baseball?
maybe anyway hard to remember then again that front gusset might be different than those ones.
hmm because i thought someone had a couple at the aussie rockford gathering, i remembered because because of that crazy backend deal.

you can see in that pic the one i'm thining of, you can just sorta make out theback bit, hmm hard to say from that pic, but thats the one that i thought of when i saw it.

Nice pick up Brian
pickles
The bike with the d in it

What is the serial number and does it have the baseball symbol ?

It could be a 79 diamond back OR it could be an 80 model Cobra

The numbers will help
Mr.BMX
Brian:
The chrome frame IS a centurian.

It will have the baseball symbol next to the serial numba, (on the inside of the left dropout from memory).
They do fetch some interest for serious DBack collectors.

There's a bit of history behind them, something about left overs from Dback factory, being sold off to other bike companies and rebadged/sold under new names.

I have 2, but getting rid of one.....
redlineoz
pickle and marty.... 9k0171 with the baseball...so its a centurion made by diamond back? iv never see 1...
thanks reece,,, bout time, 4 me that is...
lol bully, yeah im wishing it had the back end on it....
cheers
Kurt.
Hey Brian,

Centurion was the parent company for Diamond Back BITD. Have a look at this pic - you'll see the same gussets on the frame on the far right. It may possibly have originally been sold with Diamond Back stickers.

78/79 they were available with that gusset but with straight seat and chainstays instead of a loop (like in the catalogue). Made in the same Koizumi factory in Japan. Yours is definitely a '79 from that serial number.
KOSY-MOTO
I clearly remembering the importers here in SYDNEY.. were giving them away when they were going bust.. selling all DB's at crazy $$$. If can only turn back the time!!
Mr.BMX
REDLINEOZ:

The 16" bike is a "Roadking Tiger - PR050".
It will have numbers on both the rear dropouts (on the outer-sides, and the right dropout (chainside) should have "Woolworths Aus" stamped along the bottom of the dropout, just under/behind the axle slot......

Hey Brian,

I'll e:mail you the pics from that catalogue, but not sure they'll be any easier to read.

There's a ton of DB history right here: http://www.rosbmx.com/image/04_ROSBMX_DB_BIKES.htm

These are the late Sandy Finkelman's pages of ROSBMX. Unfortunately since Sandy died, you can't access full size scans of a lot of the info. Damn shame. Sandy was the Manager of the DB team and was heavily involved in the development of the DBs of that era.

Hey did you guys see the few USA built 77 DB frames that sold on ebay this week? Incredibly cheap for some real BMX history.
redlineoz
thanks kurt...
helped a bit... i know somthing is only worth whatever anybody is willing to pay, but where to start? ive had some offers, but what do u guys think, how much? is it sought after apart from the us?

OZZYBMX
Hey guys , pics as promised . Those yellow pat pend Z's came up a dream ? dyed black and laced to NOS DX hubs with SS/chrome spokes . Only new pedals and stem needed now for this build .

BEFORE .....

AFTER .....

OZZYBMX
with the few bikes i have , there is a pattern emerging , the stem and pedals are the last bits to get changed to approx era top line bits !

im needing 3 pro necks !! i got offered a red NOS by a member here who sold me the red MX brakes for my quad ... he had the full nos red kit , pedals , brakes , stem , seat clamp , red 195mm spokes , post , sprocket ect .

I had a heated argument with myself on why i should/should not spend $250us for a red nos pro neck to put on a rider

all good guys !

take - ease
KOSY-MOTO
WOW Ozzy.. those Decals look 100% betta.. did you have difficults peeling the others off without the paint coming off?
OZZYBMX
thanks kosy ! i used err hair drier and sharp plastic scaper thingy . It took prob half hour ish to gettem off , BUT the gold ones where only put on in april this year and they were stuck onto brand new powder . after i got them off i wiped the frame and forks with acetone and stuck the baby blues on there .

I think the BB sticks look way better than the gold ones did . Hey and they are repos too apart from the head tube stick .
OZZYBMX
Ive got a funny one here for yous ...

a guy i work with has 4 boys from 6ys old to 13yrs . i sorted him out with a crappy bmx so he could go out with the troops to the bmx course . i gave him the bits in drips and drabs over about 2-3 months and he built it up ... to cut a long story short , his chain came off and he remembers from BITD he used to put it back on while riding , he grabbed the chain ... set it on the sprocket and pushed down with his left foot .... he came back to work today after a week on the "mody dick" and the end of his finger ... whats left of it ... is still plastered up

he had to pedal right round to get his finger out the other side

edit: BTW im 33 , he is 38 ... man he should have had more sense .... thats why its funny !

hey Ozzy,

I did the exact same thing when I was a kid riding to school one cold winters day it wasn't until my hands warmed up that I realized how badly I had gone through my fingernail . I didn't go all the way round though. still not very good. did this guy have foot brakes or something? OOOOPS!

ozzy- it it a rider? looks good man...
anybody from here goin to u2 tomorro nite?
cheers
Jarvi
Yes I'm heading to U2 tomorrow night. Seems like ages since I bought the tickets and I thought I was getting them at the last minute back in February... Saw them back in about '93 at the G which I thought was crap so hoping this will be better.

I think most of us have or know some-one that had put a hole through their finger with a chainwheel. The biggest decision when you do it is whether the keep going or try and back pedal out of it.
Kurt.
Half your luck mate - U2 will go off I reckon. I remember going back to the 7EX Record Bar (remember that Jarvi?) every day for a fortnight back in '84, when The Unforgettable Fire was due to be released, before stock finally arrived. Enjoy it Jarvi.
Jarvi
I've been holding off getting the Vertigo DVD because I didn't want to ruin the concert. Will go out and get it on Sunday morning I reckon. I'm sure it will be great and if it's half as good as the last concert (Foo Fighters) I went to then it will go off. One of the benefits of moving to the big smoke Kurt.
HowardinOz
Ha! Ha! Last concert I went to was Neil Diamond!

Howard (preparing for flack).
redlineoz
neil diamond? he was cool bitd... my ex mrs wanted us to go see him, but we couldnt get tix... im sure he done a good show..
jarvi, mate i got tix yesterday...it feels like ive had them forever...

cheers
bullyhotrod86jh
U2, neil diamond, hmm not quite my tastes, haha.
to his is his own.
yeah that problem is the the chains are just not strechy enough right, haha. The 1 time i did it i was lucky i had the chain loose reason i put my finger down at that time, and it only went around a little way before i back pedaled.
