I decided to get on the damn bike today after work. After a strong early Summer last year, I totally slacked on the rest of the summer/fall. I decided that I wouldn't let that happen this year.
I cleaned up my wifes bike, even though I still couldn't get the rear shock to feel right. It took me almost 45 minutes to gather up my riding gear & clean out my camebak.
I took off from my house hoping to get to my favorite local trail in a decent amount of time. It's about 5 miles of climbing till you hit the trailhead at Little Cottonwood Canyon.
From the first hill I could tell the bike wasn't set up quite right & then I had some pretty bad pain coming from my hips & joints. My feet hurt too.
I kept on the gas & made it to the trailhead then decieded to suck it up & get to the 1/3 mark of the trail. It was pretty harsh & I was suffering like I was in a race or something. The downhill is pretty fun & coming down from the canyon you can get up into the 30's without even trying.
I got home about 1 1/2hr later & cleaned up, popped some IB's & a banana. My cardio felt great as did my power but my joints, knees, & lower back were on fire. I don't think it was so much of the bike as it was I really haven't trained for riding. I spent all winter long in the gym on a stepper & medium upper body. I found out today you need to at least have a spin class or something like that at least once a week.
I'm going to be hating it tomorrow for sure. It was nice to hit some dirt though & the scenery was awesome.
