i have a raleigh single speed road bike and a older schwinn converted to a fixed gear.
I've got a Bianchi Pista. It's a commuter. It spends most of it's time set up w/ a freewheel, but I do swap the wheel over back to fixed. I really like it. I put bullhorns on it & a front brake. It's a real quick, nimble handling bike. That's what I like about it.

Keep it coming guys! Ive had two fixes; one old school Frejus and a Bianchi Buss single speed. The frejus was bad to the bone, but way too big for me (60cm) It was one of my very first ebay sales. The bianchi I sold in a bout of stupidity. I am keeping my eye out for a complete 54cm, horizontal drop outs, hopefully steel. I live very close to a velodrome, and I want to hit it up again. They have rental bikes, but I dont trust that stuff. Good times,

I have a converted 1983 Trek 500. I ride it with a front brake because I'm not crazy-LOL.
I use it around my town when I need to run a quick errand, etc. Went to the hairdresser, the library, and the bakery on it last week. One time last year I rode it to the package store so my wife and I could have cocktail hour on the front porch.

I've got a beat-to-hell Bianchi Pista that's my bar bike and occasional late-night rider. Changes include a one-piece Cinelli Integralter bar/stem, Surly Steamroller fork, Campy Record headset, Thomson Elite post, celeste Flite saddle, and vintage Campy track pedals with Christophe clips and Binda straps.
I might switch to a pair of platform SPDs if I can find a cheap set.

Here's my beastie...

1983 serial # Trek 500 (was built as an 84 from the factory when I found it). Cheapo bull bars from Chucksbikes.com, cheapo lever from and same place. Original brake, post, stem. Suzue "basic" hubs built into yard sale find Ambrosio 19 Elite rims. Cheapo tiresfrom the LBS. I ride it around town, like this morning when I went to the dentist, or last summer during cocktail hour when we needed a bottle of Vodka...

It's not a fixie, or even a roadie, but...

SS MTB conversion with some roadie parts on it. It's the steed that helped me win the master's class (36 and over) at the All City Championships alleycat race in Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Biggest mistake I made was selling my fixed. I had a Fuji Track Pro - the gearing was so huge I started off like a rolling brick, and a Surly Steamroller. Surly just makes an incredible fixed. I'll find pics and post 'em up.

Why is that?
Apparently, you're not aware that S&M's roots are in making a quality product, having fun, and keeping an open mind. A lot of riders (dirt, street, etc) like to ride fixed gear too once in a while. So, why not make a decent S&M version? I go back with S&M to before the beginning and still love to ride BMX, but I also like riding road, track, MTB, etc and I can't wait for Chris to make a street fixie that I can be proud to ride.
Don't worry, it will most likely be a limited run. Fixed gear is not the direction S&M is going as a mainstay.

Trust me, I know S&M's history. I have a Widowmaker, a Black Bike, and try to run S&M parts when I can. I also have an S&M sticker on the headtube of my Bianchi Pista.
But, to ME, S&M is pure
B.M.X.. Nothing but.
So it just doesn't seem like a good fit. Not that S&M can't make one. Heck no, they have proven themselves to be able to make anykind of bike they want (BMX Tandems?). The stereotype "hipster" image of the fixie world is just not something that I equate with S&M.
If they did it under the Revenge or Fit banner, I'd have no problem with it.
A valid point that a pal made was "why not make a bit of $$$ of the sudden surge of fixie-popularity?" I have to agree with that. I don't see S&M as selling out at all here. If anything I guess I'd applaud Chris for making a quick buck.
Oddly I have no prob with FBM making one. Another company I have lots of respect for (currently riding a PW Moto). So fee free to call me a hypocrite.

Hey Bill, I hear what you'e saying. In this case, it's more that a group of S&M friends and riders would like some S&M built fixies, so Chris has been entertaining the idea, which is turning into some actual framesets. Like I said, I believe this is more of a limted run, for which there is little ROI, as opposed to a full-blown fixie production run that would cash in on the trend.

Hey Brian,
If you score one, be careful tooling around the "The Rock" on that thing. I used to ride my roadie out in town around Camp Kinser and can't remember all the times I almost got run down by a cabby.
I also can't remember how many times a 1 hour ride turned in to a 3/4 hour ride as I tried to find my way home.
The fam and I are trying to get back to OK this year. I wish their was some bmx going on there. Be cool if someone would get MWR to get a track going.

Yep still the same, commuted to foster from courtney for a while but after X number of attempts at my life, I have cashed that one in. Also found a track on google earth about 400 ft from my hose that is now picnic tables and with the realignment no one wants to put anything into work. Moving out to Ishikawa next onth so my commute will be about 4 miles. I found one set of trails and was told it was private fo MX, and been denied buying stuff at about five shops on island(another story). Found one out in Torii though that is OS BMX and he is really into having someone to talk to about racing. Let me know when you are coming out and we will meet up.

I know all about being denied making purchase on the Island. Once, I got so pissed in a sporting good store when they wouldn't even let me in the door. Little did they know I could speak pretty fluent japanese and then went on to curse them out a little bit. Getting in to the clubs was another challenge, but eventually I found ones who were comfortable enough with me in my speaking ability and the company I was with.
I can't wait to get back to the rock this year. It's been at least 5/6 year since my wife has been home. I'll def be looking for something to do and someone to hang with.
