As you recall, almost 2 years ago I took a spill on my road bike & hung it up afterwards. Iv'e only ridden it twice since. My nieghbor bought a new road bike & shamed me into going out today. It was almost 70*'s so I dug the bike out of the garage, aired up the tires & took off.
I was pretty sketchy most of the ride but felt great fitness wise. Topped off a hard ride with a nice cold brew.
I might or might not continue riding it but I thought I would share.

My brother had a spill 5 years ago, he flipped over a deer. He still rides, but I understand why you would be hesitant.

Hope the brew was good

Good luck if you decide to ride in the future.

Great to hear you got back on the bike, regardless if you stay with it or not.

I was hit by a car a few years ago, no serious bodily injuries (banged up knee) but my 1984 Campy equipped Bianchi wasn't as lucky.

I got back on (anothe rbike-LOL) as soon as I could so I wouldn't let any fear build up. I'm not fearless but I'm not stupid either so I took it easy for a while. That being said I am VERY cautious when I ride now.

PS- My $20 yard sale find Bianchi turned into a 2004 LeMond Zurich when her insurance man finally paid up.

Bruce,

I remember your chew ... you had a bunch of brand new gear that you killed in the process. The photos from after the crash looked pretty gnarly.

Yesterday I went out solo for about a 45 mile ride. Aside from temps in the upper 40's and the periodic cold rain from about 25 miles on ... and finally the flat, with no tube in the saddle pack, that I suffered about 5 miles from home ... it was a really enjoyable ride.

Probably looking to do a half-century this Saturday. Which, for me ... is something like Lance riding to the moon and back.

your inner tubes and the road debris know when you don't have a spare...
