Guys,
Just letting you know, for those of you interested, I finally got time to get S&M's first two videos from the early 90's transferred over onto one DVD. Feel My Leg Muscles...I'm a Racer and 44 Something, both kind of rare(even back then).
I had both at one time but was only able to find my "Feel My Leg Muscles". I was sure a good friend had a copy but as luck would have it, he lost his as well. So the mid-school forum's very own Ryan Patridge cautiosly loaned me his copy of 44 Something so we could make this happen.
If everything goes as planned, it will be the real deal, complete with DVD case and cover, menu, chapters, all that stuff. I'm going down the place this week to tell them where the "chapters" should be placed and also to get the cover and wording all done, as the actual movies have been transferred over already.
Just throwing this out there for now if anyone is interested or you have some income tax money flowing in soon or whatever. Like I said, the DVD will have both movies on it, shipped USPS Priority Mail for probably about $30, depending on what the final price is. I don't plan on making any money, but I sure as heck don't want to lose any either
I'll probably have 12 copies or so ran off first(The first 5 are already spoken for) and if they go, I may order a few more depending on interest.
And for the lawyers out there, yes, I got Mad Dog's approval, providing he gets a copy when finished
I'll keep this updated.
Thanks fellas.

Please save a copy for me. Do you accept Paypal? I'll send funds over to hold a spot.
Funny I just got done watching BMX Inferno while doing some work in the shop and kept thinking how good of a video it was/is. Mad Dog's section in it is hysterical.

Matt,
I want a copy too. Please tell me how to pay and I can pre-pay.
I want to see Clymer in action!
Thanks

Guys, I ear-marked a copy for each of you, but I do not want payment until the DVD's are in my hands ready to be shipped, which if all goes well, should be early next week. Paypal will be excepted as will a money order. I will post in the For Sale forum to make it official since selling stuff in the non-classifide forums is a no-no. But anyone who replies here will be sent a pm or email from me first when they are ready.
We did the "chapters" for both movies tonight, picked a background shot for the menu, stuff like that. Now all they have to do is put everything together and put it on disk. They will call me when the first one is done and ready to be viewed.
As for footage, it's just classic S&M at it's best. Lots of Clymer, Treanor, Jimmy Levan, Mad Dog, some John Paul Rogers stuff, Perry Mervar, Mike Lausman, Mike Griffin, clips of various contests, KOD at Mission Trails, etc. Early "Mid-School" riding at it's best.
Thanks for the replies.

S&M will not be stoked on your idea. By selling those DVD's you will risk earning (up to) a $50K fine per DVD sold!!
This is not a joke. I have spoken to Chris personally and he has spoken very clearly that there will be "NO ONE OTHER THAN S&M OR THEIR DISTRIBUTORS SELLING DVD'S WITH OUR NAME ON THEM-PERIOD!!"
Maybe you can find some footage of a company NOT STILL IN BUSINESS!! You moron do you really think you can get away with that!?? I have a good OLD Parkpre vid you can borrow to bootleg insted.

The fact that I sent Chris an email and got a reply back from him saying it was fine with him is 100% true, unless of course there is another "Chris" that answers emails sent to Moeller@sandmbikes.com .
Regardless, I called Chris and he was out of the office, so I sent an email and will wait for his reply and the DVD will be put on hold until then.
Unless there was some misunderstanding in my email to him or his back to me, he DID give me permission when I asked for it before I even started with it. If he wants to change his mind, it's completely his call.
But I do not appreciate being made to look like a fool. You want to throw around school yard name calling, be my guest. But don't make me look like a fool.
I honestly hope you do not work for S&M, or at least deal with their customers or dealers. Maturity and professionalism aren't some of your better qualities.

Did he really give you permission to copy the DVD AND sell it for $30 a pop?? I highly doubt it.
No I'm not an employee, I'm just a longtime friend who knows Chris would not like someone making $30 a copy off something with his name on it that he has zero control of.

I doubt Matt is making any money from this venture.
"I don't plan on making any money, but I sure as heck don't want to lose any either "
Matt is doing the right thing though. He never planned to make 1,000's of these movies and make $30 a pop. Copying VHS movies to DVD and reproducing them in small quantities is not a money making venture.

It may not be "money making", but the REPRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION is illegal. Like I said before, He's my friend(MadDog), I asked him "wassup" and he said he absolutly doesn't want videos distributed by ANYONE other than S&M or its distributors. It's not my company- I don't care- I just sent the message. Maybe he told Matt he could make the DVD, but I don't think he wants multi copies made "bootleg" style and sold to public. I know for a fact his plans were to release those old videos with the current PLEASE KILL ME VID- because of timing that could not be done- but there is still a PLAN for them. Anyway Im over it, sorry to stir pot so bad...
ps MATT P/M me I have the jersey you're looking for!!

Well guys, sorry to say but the DVD project has been squashed. Chris got back to my email and apparently he misunderstood my very first email when I asked him about it and told him :
"Obviously I am going to charge them since I'm not doing it purely out of the goodness of my heart, but I can guarantee I won't be doing it to make money.I'd just rather check with you first "Maybe he read my email fast, maybe he was doing something else at the time he read my email, maybe he thought about it since then, whatever. But, I will say he was extremely polite in his last email when he expressed he'd rather this not be done. As I said before, his company, his videos, his call.

Believe me man, you're not saying anything I didn't think of before I even attempted this, which is exactly why Mad Dog was the first person I contacted about it. There was an unfortunate misunderstanding and he now says no.
I am terribly sorry to all you guys who were looking forward to this, as was I. I can only hope S&M releases these two movies eventually. I'm not sure if Mad Dog is really hip on the whole "old school" resurgence in the last few years, but it's obvious there are guys like us that would love to see this older stuff, regardless of how cheesey the videos may have been.
Again, sorry for the mess, fellas.

A simple, "Matt, I spoke with Moeller and it looks like there may have been a misunderstanding, you better give him a call" would have been just fine, or even email or private message me. Coming on here half-cocked like you are his lawyer, reciting lines from the "Warning" message on probably every movie ever made, name calling and throwing accusations around is just ridiculous.
But whatever. In the end you showed Moeller and made him see there was a misunderstanding, no DVD was made, I'm out the money I gotta pay the place for their time up to this point, and it's over.

Too bad this didn't work out Matt, especially as Moeller inferes in the latest issue of UK Ride magazine that it's unlikely that he'll do a DVD reissue of the earliest videos...
