If you don't know what that is, the serial number is November 1988 #7.

Trust me, you struck gold with that one!
rlowride
oh i knew.. and i have had this bike almost since new

a buddy of mine got it.. and spray painted it...
i dont remember the original color.. if it was the red.. or green...??? i never knew the serial number was the 7th until i got it back..
When did Auburn come out?
86 87 88??
Rich Soryu
I think they started in '88. Now I am wondering what year my Auburn is because it has no serial numbers except for XL being stamped in the bottom bracket mount for the rear. I 100% sure it is an Auburn though because the build quality is EXACTLY like Auburn. COuld just be that one of hte previous owners somehow filed it off or Auburn let a couple out without serials. lol.
rlowride
hummm
so mine could.. may be the 7th one???

i know the 7th in november of 88 anyhow.......
Rich Soryu
Does yours have a serial number on the frame? I noticed that the serial you posted was just on back end.
rlowride
no... i tok it apart to look for it.. the bie has been painted... bomb can style..... so i wil have to strip it to be for sure....
crucial
O.K. so i originally sold this one as a NOS frame and fork kit, and the guy built her up. Shes been ridden around a little bit. Just today he says to me "you want to buy her back?". So here she is in built up glory (minus a set of wheels).
This is one sweeeet racing bike methinks, but i doubt she will be ridden again, so i may have to trade her on.Does anyone know what year she is from, as she has a 1" threaded headset, and i have noticed many have a aheadset type fitting, i wonder what year they moved up to threadless head sets?

revcore
It looks like a 92-93 model CR20R. If I had the money I'd love to buy it.
ELF_DUDE

here is the headest

I don't think Auburn put serial numbers on the frame until 93 or 94. Before that, it was just on the back.

What kind of rims were used on the 91-92 CR20RX's? The scans Rich put up say Sun rims but which ones were they?
cru jones 2

cru jones 2
p.s. hey rich still need that info on the green powder?
choad666
Thanks for the info Cru!
cru jones 2

Rich Soryu
Yes I still need that info on the gren powder. It would be much appreciated! Thanks.

PS. Sorry it took so long to reply. I kept forgetting to post.
RL-20II Guy
The green powder is a stock neon color for green. Any powder person can get it, and should have a catalog powder sample book to see it.

I think RL-20II Guy is right with his statement. I got a 92 from him on evilbay and the color is spot on.
Nbl 49a
I wasn't sure if it was a stock color every where but this is what I was saying back on page two a few months abo to Rick about Az powder coat having a dead on match.

There's been a chrome Auburn cruiser locked up on University in NYC (around 12th/13th St.) in front of Patsy's Pizza. Judging from the basket, it's being used as a delivery bike. Not sure of the entire spec, but it definitely had H-section black Tuffs, dual pinchbolt chrome Flights and a purple (1" threaded) DK stem. The past couple times I saw it the guy had it locked with a chain through the handlebars (!) so I'm hoping it didn't get stolen.
choad666
Finished building this one today! The only things that are new are the chain, cranks, tires, and stickers. The rest of it was stuff I had laying around. It has GT/Profile cranks I powdered because the chrome was bad on them.

race_inc
Hey choad killer build dude, here is mine!

Rich Soryu
Nice, black looks cool.

I might be getting another Auburn sometime this week...
choad666
I did the black one as a low dollar build so I wouldn't have to worry about breaking stuff on it. It was spraypainted yellow when I got it so I took it to work and powdered it! I would have to say it is quickly becoming my favorite rider.

Nice bike race_inc!
MiniZ
Nice bikes choad and race inc! I also love the El Camino by the way.
rlowride

Maybe someone here can help. I've been looking for a pick of Danny "The Missle" Millwee's Auburn. Specifically, he had a custom painted Auburn that was black w/ red flames. If anyone has one, please post it. I've been searching for some time, but...

Rich (NBL 49a), saw you listed the 91-92 Kastan Nat'l Team. Was that the same time as J.D. Finney? Saw him race a few times at Columbia BMX in MD and he was just plain smooth and fast.

Thanks,
-Mike

Here is a pic of my Auburn. I really haven't put much effort into getting it dialed (as you can tell)

Finished building this one yesterday. The front half has been repowdered but everything else is NOS.

Just thought I'd try something different with the Skyways!
starchild

AuburnKing
Absolutely beautiful man. I think its the first time I have ever seen an Auburn with Tuffs. Where did you get it powder coated?
