Hey Guys,

I need anyone who has Fredz's and Dk to verify something for me. I have two pairs of Fredz Bars or so I thought. The first pair I got on ebay had been cut down in width or is an expert size. They had no sticker and had an older coat of black powder coat on them. These are the brown bars in the pix. They have small holes in the ends caps of the clamp bar and no welding beed on the edge of the cap. Perfectly smooth edges actually. I noticed the smaller holes right away when I got them but thought Cycle Craft changed to smaller holes after I retired from Bmx. The other thing I noticed once I got my second set is the sweep is different. The brown ones sweep back more. This of course was the dead give away.

My second pair from another Vintage Member who owned them since new. Complete with orginal paint and sticker. They have the larger holes and the end caps have been welded on. The are the black bars with the aqua background in the pix. I also included pix of a set of cruiser bars I saw on ebay which also have the larger holes.

So I need a little help figuring out what the brown bars are. From looking at photo's Dk's stem clamp bar extends further outwards so I didn't think they were dk's.

Thanks

I have some Hoffman bars that look alot like Fred'z. They have a small hole in them. The brown bars look like the ones I have.

That would explain the powder coat if it is original paint

I have two pairs of dk cruiser bars, one with the old dk sticker and one with the new - both of them have larger holes than the "brown bars" - I don't think the brownies are dks.

I thought these were Fred'z but maybe not. No hole in lower cross piece.

Pquin,

The crossbar is too big and the clamp bar width looks too wide also. They look closer to Dk's with the width of the bottom clamp bar and the size of the crossbar. However of course witn no holes they are not Dk's either.

I am chemically stripping my Fredz's right now. I carefully stripped the Fred'z sticker off last night.

Just an FYI for everyone Cycle Craft used a tan primer under their black paint. I am not sure if other colors also got tan primer or not but my forks and my bars were originally black. Both had Tan primer the Dirt Legz are 92's and the bars are about 88's. An intersting note which I already knew the primer is tougher to get off than the actual paint.
