i have an older hoffmann stem grips lile a vice. switched to a perergrine, was suspect of it but really works. There are soo many stems it is hard to pick. I prefer front load stems, myself. some that come to mind.

s&m redneck-animal-

top load- dk fbm. These are what i see the most of.

Profile. I've had my Profile XXL stem for a few years now and it is by far the best stem I've ever owned.

I've run S&M stems since the shafted redneck came out BITD, won't trust anything else. I can be converted however as evidenced by the Odyssey forks I'm running now. It's ultimately your call though, there's alot more good choices out there now than in years past.

profile & S&M. Steardy and pretty light.

If you want super light, thomson, FSA.

Check the knurling on your bars as well, all stems mentioned are the best available. I run Profile XXL and the newer Answer Stubbie 2 65mm on my race bikes.
