Found this in a lbs, owner wanted to get rid of them but asking a small fortune. Looks real gd, no box but has the original manual and literature. I know they are made from fiber glass and has a history of breakage, when were they made anyways? Anybody has a set rigged up? Anybody interested?

I believe the blue label Spins are Carbon Fiber, and the green label are Fiberglass. Also, the nomenclature under "Spin" will be CR150 or CR175 for Carbon Fiber and FR150 or Fr175 for Fiberglass. My son has a set or fiberglass on his `99 Supergoose, and they are sweet!
Yasser
Yup they are sweet looking, tempting real tempting. How much did they retail for??

Aren't these mutually exclusive goals?

I have a set on a bike that I just ride around town. They spin forever, nice hubs and they are pretty stiff. Good braking on the aluminum sidewall. I wouldn't race or bash on them but they look cool and serve the purpose.

If I remember correctly I got my set from Dans years ago when they dumped them. I'm sure I paid under $100 for them, though the retails was twice that.

I paid about $100 total for my sons, but bought them seperately from two diff. ebayers. I've seen them go for more and I've seen them go for less. What is the LBS trying tio get for them?
kcmobmx
how much did he want for them? I would love to have a set for an upcoming winter project...

I've got a set on my rider and they are really good rims but like wugak said, I wouldn't race or bash them. I've played around doing bunny hops but won't jump them.
parabulla
They retailed for about 150 a wheel BITD.

if you wanted to buy a nos set now ... theyre pretty expensive ... they need to add a few numbers to the $100 tag !

Lbs wanted US350 for the last set, bit high for me actually, but cant get my eyes of them everytime Im in the shop.

I rode them for awhile in 1995. For kicks I switched back to my 7X wheels and I couldnt believe how stiff they were and consequently how flexy the spins were. I never went back and sold the wheels to a member here eventually.

they did retail for 300 when they came out so 350 is fair but steep...

Didn't I end up with yours Alex? I traded them to Kilo, never did get to ride them. A buddy of mine, has his Redline John Purse edition bike in my basement, he bought a pair of the FR175 fiberglass spins, NOS about a year ago for $125. He loves them. They are a cool looking wheel and roll forever... But I still prefer my Skyway Graphites...
