That's a sweet W.A.L. right there. Always wanted one of those, but they never come up for sale. Maybe they all broke in the '90s?

To bad its in the UK.

Sadly, I'm looking at that and thinking, "Do I really need the StreetBeat that took so long to build but gets so little use?"
Had one of these beasts in the 90s, an earlier version in chrome without the 990 lugs (or forks, that's why i paid so little at the time). Great bike, good size, a little heavy.
Don't think they were very common to start with; maybe they all did break, I suspect people rode them into the ground. Mine was sold for peanuts because I inherited an 88 Sport. Wish I could've kept it, but space is always a problem.

There's a chrome one (frame and fork) up in the rafters at Brooklyn Machine Works. I never saw one back in the day. Such a weirdly overbuilt frameset—the peg bosses on the pegs are WAY low on the Bottema-style forks, the toptube dips down and back early and far.

He should have kept the name Wilkerson Airlines instead of going back to 2 Hip.
LONG-HAUL
I bought a chrome WAL new in '91 but never used it in anger; it was a typical example of the worst products from the small rider-owned companies. The drop outs were welded too far down the fork leg so my Boa brake wouldn't reach the rim sidewalls, and if you looked at the frame from the back you could see that it hadn't been jigged straight, and the welding was very patchy. Sold it immediately to a mate who worked as a metal machinist and he spent some time rectifying the issues before using it for a while. I remember that it was a long, heavy old tank, and the headangle seemed too slack.

Still have the tubular bashguard if anyone needs one?

the word bitd was that Ron changed the name to 2-Hip to avoid complications during his divorce back in the mid 90's.

Ron W will always rule, but he's made some missteps in the bike design department. 2-Hip's new line this year actually looks pretty good, though. the 2-hip Playboi in all white is pretty sweet looking.
