I have just got a set of NOS hoffman super forks from a local bike shop, but they seem to have a weird fitting. The fork is 1", with a straight, unthreaded section about an inch or so long at the top, then a thereaded section just below for the headset. They also have a threaded section inside the fork, presumably for a top nut that threads down onto the stem and into the fork. So, do i need a special stem and top nut to make these fit a standard 1" headtube bmx? The place i got them does not know if they originally came with a stem and top nut,and if they did they are long missing by now,as he reckons they have been in the shop for "years".On a secondary note, i also found a NOS pair of Kore flatland forks, but didnt grab em , but there there if i want em .Should i grab em?
Thanks for any help.
the super fork is just like a s&m stupid fork. except the stupid fork didnt use a top cap. these forks were made for bikes w/ standard headtubes, so no, you wouldnt need anything extra.
yes, the super fork came with a 1" threadless stem and a top cap that threaded in. to find either of these will be a feat, but they are still out there. there also should be a special headset locknut for use w/ this. the top of the nut doesnt have a edge like a standard nut, so it can sit anywhere on the threaded section.

i've got some of those Superforks on my Taj
you don't need the headset locknut with this design as the big nut/washer on the top of the stem will hold the stem down tight on top of the headset, then you also secure the stem itself with the 2 pinchbolts at the back to stop it twisting on the forks
just a note to say my stem has been fitted upside down to lower the bars slightly!
the stems are just plain silver alloy clamp on design with a 1 inch hole instead of Inch&1/8 & have the HB logo indented into the top 4 bolt cap
ahh, well there ya go.

the stupid fork had a welded insert inside the top of the steerer to strengthen the stem area furthur, but no top cap. it uses the aformentioned nut below the stem to tension the headset.
btw, i stll have it. for sale excellent shape. blk redneck & pitch style fork.

Man, I thought I'd be able to help because I ran Superforks for years, but I always used the 1&1/8th.. We were just talking about those 1" ones.. Very rare indeed. Keep that.

Here's a couple of pics of my Superfork. It's 1" threadless.
