What parts were good/cool/desirable???
Thanks
DINGO
Kastanman
That depends on what it's for. I wouldn't use 88 CW bars on a 94 elf. There are a lot of cool and desireable parts form the midschool time frame. Cyclecraft Fred'z bars, Kastan strut fork, Dia Compe Nippons, Jad frames, and the list could go on for pages.

The good stuff?--anything made by:
Revcore
Cyclecraft
Crupi
JP
Elf
Kastan
Boss
Phase II
White Bear
Brackens
Technique
some Hutchins
bmxerpete
Half of the bikes above were made by Fabweld...

As far as parts go, Odyssey and Primo were the ones to have if you couldn't afford the Crupi or JP stuff. Schwinns' XS line came out in the mid school era, but it was pretty much all Taiwan junk.
ELF_DUDE
odyssey
tioga
peregrine
Haro
Redline

I didnt hear about primo stuff until late 97
depended on what you where building?
They made bullseye hubs and phil hubs at that time also. they also made bullseye cranks all they way until 96

Answer Proforx were good mid school items but then all of a sudden the pro's stopped getting contingency money for using them, Then Proforx dissapeared faster than Oprah eating a cup cake.
Even these days there doesn't appear to be much interest in Proforx but that may change sometime in the future.
cw
aaahh, proforx............

there was a couple years there when it seemed like every pro was using them despite being 2 lbs. +.
i remember something about the pros replacing the elastomer/spring w/ a block of wood or alloy so the forks wouldnt move at all.... making the community think suspension on the track was a good thing
v8ute
i have a NOS set of pro forx, had a couple of nos sets over the last couple of years, the pros used to lock them in the fixed position so they didnt work, suspension on a bmx aint a good thing, thats why they arent around anymore, i think they had about a 2 year life span

same answer at the same time CW, great minds think alike

I've had my Proforx for years now and they have been great. The only thing I've had to do is replace the original Answer elastomers, That was it really....And mine are still in real nice condition.
I'm glad CW touched on the fact that most pro's locked out their Proforx because I remember reading an article where John Purse said he did the same thing.
As nice as Proforx are, I don't think I could ever race with them, But I am happy that I have a set in nice condition because who knows?....They may become very rare and valuable in the future.

sheesh, a few posts about "locking" the pro forx and not one mention of Pistol Pete and the big fiasco of rumor mills running wild of him locking them up to win the grands. if i remember corrcetly he was one of if not the first pros to run 'em..... way before the company was bought out by answer.
