Another Cruiser Score
I am thinking about racing so about a month ago I picked up a S&M cruiser (Earlier in this post).
Well I am in the process of collecting parts for it...
And another pops up on the bay...
An even better deal and has rims I want for my Azusa project.
So I snatch it up. Auction
Well I was just planing on parting it out till I got it....It winds up having some b**chen stickers on it...
And as I am taking some parts off I notice the serial # ...
And It looks awfully close to what I rememberd was on the black one....So I check it out.
Holy Cr*p!!! The Black one is #HOX041 (From CA) and the red one is #HOX042 (From MN)!
SWEEEET I have to keep it now!
So I go thru my parts and throw this together...The only changes I have left are black Profile cranks and black brakes.
What do ya think? Anybody else have sequential #'s ?? (Other than brand new)

I really don't know much about them except that my Holmes was made by B&E. I don't know the year on either of them though. any help is appreciated! I just sold the dIRTbIKE thats ok though b/c I have the Holmes now. it just arrived today, I am stoked! the fork on the dirtbike is the older smaller dia one. wish I would have kept it but it goes with the frame. I am going to repaint the Holmes soon.. the same color of course! wish I had some decals...

Zoot out!

kcmobmx where did you find that holmes? i have been looking on ebay for an other one that wasnt crome and had not seen that one. its looks great, and with a new paint job it will look even better. post pics when you are done.

love the old s&m frames.
kcmobmx
it was there but the dude didn't know it was an S&M. 49.99 BIN!

Matt, I haven't seen that headtube sticker in 17 years! I guy I knew back in the day who had the first S&M I ever saw(back in the late 80's when they were virtually non-exsistant here in central PA) had a black Dirtbike with that decal. I never saw another one with it.

If you ever decide to make a copy of it, PLEASE let me know. I would pay good money for that sucker(orginal or not) for my 89 Dirtbike.

And here are a few pics of my first "older" S&M when I got back into it a few years ago. Ultimately it was just too new for me so I sold it for my first year Holmes. Dig the homemade stickers for it

And my Holmes that I sold for a Mad Dog

well, i hesitate to post this, but i scored another Widow today! i know some of you will me hate for it! it just fell into my lap. heres a couple pics just the way i got it. this means mine will be for sale soon because my new one is alot nicer, except its missing the top tube decal. i wont hord them. i will give you S&M guys here first crack at it when the time comes.

EL CID
Nice,I have never ridden one. Were the widow makers modeled after another companies cruiser bitd?
wds
Very nice Widow! You should drop Moeller a line and see if he still needs one. It sounded like S&M still needed a Widowmaker for their "museum".
Also, if you can find a source to print them, I believe I could create a file for the TT sticker based off my Widow.

Hope I'm not blowing anyone's auction, but this was advertised as a GT. Though it was pretty neat. It's stickered as a Dirt Bike & I think it is w/ 990 option & framestand option. S&M experts what do you think?
S&M Dirt Bike?

Good job man. I couldn't get it regardless of the low $$$.
So I assume it IS a Dirt Bike?
-Bill
smokin steve styler
KCMO did you win that? I think that was made about '92.B&E made that frame. It is the same as a Homeless Soul Bro.I think the only difference is the top tube length. When you get the frame could you measure it and LMK?

Sorry guys its not an S&M pic but these bikes were made in the same factory as alot of S&Ms.Just a reference to the post above. Both Homeless-Mack on the left and Soul Bro to the right.
wds
You know, Homeless was my second guess. Just as cool if you ask me.
-Bill

Did y'all notice where the coaster brake tab was ? On the seat stay kind of like a 88 Haro.

INTERESTING

Mark

Yeah, I noticed the coaster bracket after I posted.I guess there were more differences between the Homeless and S&M.I remember that the Dirt Bike was available in the "freestyle " model like the one in the auction.Same frame-extra standing places and CB bracket.

Don't really see too many of the Dirtbikes with the frame stands.

Both two awesome looking bikes. Mid-school at it's finest!

kcmobmx, nice score! I remember there being a chrome one on ebay about two years ago, same stickers, advertised as an S&M, first one I ever actually saw. I do remember some of the mail order places in the mags selling the Dirtbike "freestyle" model as steve styler mentioned. Great job!

Jacob,

I am glad you scored that. I was thinking about that but I got caught in a meeting at work plus we both know how crap I have bought recently. So I am glad at least one of us got it.

My dirtbike with the stuck seatpost. I should have known better, but bought it anyway. It broke off doing the "vice technique".

Man, that's an *** pain. My suggestion: Use a hack saw to saw lengthwise on the post, from the inside. If you can cut it into 2, maybe 3 sections, it will come out....major pain though...maybe carefully use a Sawzall if you have one?
shawn
just soak the seat post daily with some kind of "liquid wrench" or something thatll destroy the bonding that has taken place between the post and seat tube.

did that to my friends old boss frame years ago and it worked for us

I will try the liquid wrench. I have been planning the hacksaw idea. It is pretty long though.

I will keep you update. Thanks for the suggestions!
